RPI 2023 Off-season: We March Fourth Into the Off-season

I happened to hear Smitty radio interview on 104.5 Team on Friday. They had him on to discuss the schedule release, etc. Smitty was on the road in Calgary on a recruiting trip.... No real earth shattering news other than he likes the incoming class a lot ( cannot/did not discuss individual players) and feels the team will be better than last years squad. He went out his way to address the fans to assure t that Muzzatti will return for the fall and Smith expects that his name will be called in the upcoming NHL draft ..."... scouts and evaluators know who he is...."

Schedule wise he is very pleased with the tough early non-conference slate and that the teams we are visiting will be coming to Troy on reciprocal visits over the next few years.

Am I correct that not all will be 24-25 but some will?
 
According to that interview, the incoming class announcement is coming soon. They are waiting for the NCAA to clear the players.
With that, I'll take my yearly (very wrong) guess at the jersey numbers:
Hotson 8
McNeil 25
Payant 21
Tinling 20
Brushett 9
Regula 28
Sullivan 26
Matta 5

I also think Finn Brown will switch to #16, but that's not part of the guessing :-)

We haven't had a day over 90 degrees yet and I'm starting to think toward hockey season. I was looking at the roster and it suddenly occurred to me that I have no idea who the captains will be on this team. Usually after watching guys develop for 2 or 3 years I can guess most of the on-ice leadership. Between the pandemic, transfers and just the chaos of recent years I don't have that same feel. Any guesses?

I'd guess Jake Lee and Lauri Sertti as two of them

Probably good guesses, although if Jake is going to be an on-ice leader I hope he takes fewer penalties this season.

On a related note Coach Dave said that the pandemic response cost us "our next two captains." I'm assuming he meant Ferner and Dubinsky would have been captains in the seasons following the pandemic shutdown had they stayed in Troy.

You beat me to it about Lee. He takes too many ill-timed penalties to wear the "C"...... tough to rally the boys to kill off a penalty when you're the one frequently serving !
 
I have been feverishly loading the men’s and women’s schedules on my phone calendar. And one thing struck me: the men have the Blackout and the Big Red Freakout. The women? Just Senior Night. I get it. Attendance is low at the women’s games. But perhaps a couple theme games which added a bit of a carnival atmosphere might change that. At least for two games.
