RPI 2023 Off-season: We March Fourth Into the Off-season

Does anyone know when the Union-RPI home and home will be? It's usually the end of October (so maybe Oct 27-28 this year?) but it's not on the schedule spreadsheet from the other yet, unless I'm missing it.

I'm considering flying home for the games but the airline discount I have ends on Thursday.

November 3 in Schenectady, November 4 in Troy.

Yes, Hockey East opponents seem tougher than Atlantic Hockey.

Yipes!!! Got the sinking feeling that the program is playing the hockey equivalent role of a UT-Martin, Ball State, Louisiana-Lafayette or The Citadel. For a fee of 1.25 to 1.75 million they show up at an SEC football stadium and get the living snot beat out of them.

Unfortunately and assuming we are doing this for money alone, it isn't those amounts but the tumpings will be about the same!!!

I'm not buying that negativity. First of all, their isn't even a small fraction as much money in college hockey as in football. There aren't going to be big checks for road teams. Second, none of those opponents is in the top 10 in attendance. If we want a check then it would make more sense to go to one of the Big 10 schools with bigger rinks and huge athletic budgets. Lastly, college hockey games are usually on a return basis. If we start seeing a lot of one-way deals, then i might reconsider.

Maybe Coach Dave just decided he's getting closer to his desired roster and wants to test them. Maybe he decided that last year's schedule, which nearly qualified us for an Atlantic Hockey playoff berth if we'd played better, didn't work to prepare the team. Maybe he's schizophrenic. Frankly, I'd believe any of those before the take a check theory.

That has got to be the toughest first two months of a season since I have been following the Engineers in '93.
We will certainly find out what kind of season it is going to be early.
Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well. you don't get better by playing teams that are as good, or lesser than us. Seth was always a proponent of scheduling tough non-conf foes, so I am glad we've improved the strength of our schedule. Ideally I'd like to swap one of the HE opponents for a Big10 or NCHC team, but this is progress.

Always good to play tougher teams. Issue with bigten and nacho is you will only get a 2 for 1 deal. ie 2 away and 1 at home. Why not the CCHA? I'm quite sure they will offer 2 for 2 and you could easily partner up some of the games.

Mankato (CCHA) is on the schedule and after some confusion from their announcement a while back, the games are in Troy.

RPI had 2 for 2 deals with Notre Dame and Ohio State about 6-7 years ago

I can walk. Dickinson's Biddle Field is less than half a mile from my house.

78 days. I'll be ready.

Are you with the Army War College? My memory of Carlisle is the War College, Dickinson and then nearby facilities for virtually every trucking and logistics company you can imagine because its at the junction of two major interstate highways.

I had an assignment at the War College back in the 1970's as the highest ranking medical officer. I was a major at the time. I found I was virtually the lowest ranking fellow at the place! I never saw so much brass in my career. i recall the place being incredibly spotlessly clean and for one of the few times in my 25 years in the Army Reserve (after some active duty earlier) I had to stick to all the Army rules and play the game. The other times were my tours at Fort Dix which at the time was a training base and a basic training center. usually as a physician they were rather relaxed about the rules for medical personnel. Absolutely lovely part of the country.

No, I'm not connected to the War College, though I'm hoping to get over and visit the Heritage and Education Center one of these days.

I live in a recently constructed senior townhome development.
