Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

All this hogwash about how we'll be a bottom feeder is more than I can stand. Anyone who has watched Pirri and D'Amigo play lately knows how good this team would have been last year had they stayed. And now, we've already reloaded on O, our D is even better and we've got the goaltenders lined up. Looking at our recruit pipeline and living in the Boston area leads me to say this: Please, please, please let us join HE so I can watch us beat up on the unsuspecting Eagles and Terriers in 2013. I've loved watching Merrimack take it to those guys the last couple of years and can only imagine how much more fun it will be if RPI can do the same.

so losing Kennedy and Foss will hurt this team vs top end. Top 3/4/5 fine+, after that a little more iffy

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

I'm a little amazed at the focus of no 10 goal scorers returning for RPI and their predicted 9th place finish. Cornell does not return any 10 goal scorers either on a team that scored only 86 goals last year. I think over 40% of their minimal scoring is gone. Apologies to Chevy Chase and those who were told there would be no math but RPI returns players who scored 64 goals last year. Since Polacek & Helfrich will not dominate on the PP this year it is reasonable that other veterans will pick up that slack and Laliberte & frosh co may just score a point or two. Cornells goaltending had exactly 1 game of experience coming into last years play but the writer left that out. . I wasn't impressed with their goalie against Yale in AC but it could have been Yale was so dominant. In any event it doesn't look like they have the big solid D they usually have this year. My money is on a higher than 9th place finish. Haven't made my ECAC standings picks yet but 3-6 is more likely. If Union finishes 4th are they no longer on the Rise? JMO

Bulletin board material folks. No worries. Brian Sullivan is another media member who never has nice things to say about the Tute. Gotta remember that if you cover the ECAC you get the marching orders from league office that you need to bash RPI.

I love both these guys but Curadi and Leonard are an upgrade for both. Don't let your hatred get in the way of being objective.

Loved both Foss and Kennedy. Met them both great individuals and warriors for the program. All due respect but they were not Hammond or Pothier. Then again who is? But Bergin and Koudys have been drafted Bailin is a preseason ECAC and all american pick. I think Bo Dolan will be a big surprise with a season under his belt. Leonard Le B and Curadi have a lot of potential. We will be ok.

Aspy, that's a bold accusation but I know you are a knowledgeable poster. Can you provide a factual basis for your statement or is it based on circumstantial evidence?

(Paul) Stewart fired back at Klump that Klump, was in effect, sounding “like Appert, using the refs as a crutch.”

I heard that SA met with SJ today. I have no idea what they talked about or whether it is unusual for them to meet. Yes I will miss you and all your buds, but I'll be paying attention.

You're not rid of me just yet. I hope we play a game every year like Siena/UAlbany does in basketball. Should play it in the TUC. You guys can bring the kid with the flashlight...I mean spotlight.

Sorry for being dense, but who is SJ? Hopefully you don't mean that he is going to coach San Jose.

I am sure that SA will want to keep the "rivarly" against Union. I also hope that we keep those against the North Country.

For those (myself included) who haven't check in much over at the weekend thread, a brief glance at the weekend opponent, Minn. State:

As one might expect, they don't have a single kid hailing from east of the Mississippi. They opened their season last weekend with a 3-1 exhibition win over U. Brit. Columbia. 8 freshman. Senior forward Michael Dorr, who had 12-14--26 in is top returning scorer. They're known to hit everything that stands still long enough, but they apparently wore down conditioning-wise in the 3rd period vs. UBC. Run 'em boys, run 'em....:D

Agree with this completely. These guys were great representatives for the program and hard workers who gave it their all and represented RPI fantastically on and off the ice. With that said, they were #5 and 6 defensemen masquerading as #2 and 3 the past two seasons. They've given Koudys a much needed bridge to is top-4 role, and as you say Dolan has been a real pleasant surprise. Bergin is absolutely rock-solid. Anything we get out of Curadi and Leonard (and Leboeuf) will be a bonus as we have a stellar top 4; much stronger than last year's.
