Was this before or after Bubela? Granted that he may not be here next season, but think of the ecstasy if we had just received a commitment from the US U20's #3 scorer. Well, Slovakia finished higher than the US, and we have their #3 scorer.

He looks to be a good pickup but overall if you look at past classes, they were deeper with more potential to find the back of the net. Once again that is on paper and those rankings don't mean a whole heck of alot anyways.

Bill Belicheck did not exactly have the greatest results in his first stint as a head coach....During his tenure in Cleveland (1991 - 1995) he compiled a 36–44 record, leading the team to the playoffs in 1994. In Belichick's last season in Cleveland the Browns finished 5–11.

He seems to be doing better the second time around.

So whats your point. Seth needs a change of scenery like Belichick or we should bring back Fridgen because his second stint should be so much better because of a NFL coaches record. Irrelevant.

I think DrD had the right prescription give these guys a flu shot in October and we won't talk about this every year. I've had them for twenty years and I haven't got the flu. That might be the kiss of death. Speaking of KOD I bought Carnival Cruise stock three days before the crash so what do I know. Rock the boat don't tip the boat over. My broker sees what I do and buys/ sells accordingly.

SA is still young and it is very early in his coaching career. People are being way too premature in passing judgment without enough evidence because there simply isn't enough evidence yet available.

Respectfully disagree. My statement was next year would be very crucial. 7 years would be more than enough evidence.

I agreed with that totally at the outset, may even have said it earlier than you did, I don't quite recall the sequence. Either his responses this year will bring good results next year or they won't; either his confidence will be bolstered or challenged anew.

If the latter, he has plenty of time available to regroup and try again elsewhere several years down the road. Most of us would greatly prefer the former.

We probably were talking past each other: i was saying it was way too early to assess his career while you were saying next year was crucial in assessment of his tenure at Rensselaer. Complementary observations not contradictory ones.

I brought that up a while ago because it just seems like an obvious simple precaution. But we just do not know what illness is present in the boys. Everyone, including the media, calls everything the flu. The flu is a specific viral infection-actually far more severe than most people realize with a significant morbidity and even more significant mortality for the most virulent strains. But every viral illness is not the flu and most often during the winter there are a myriad of infections from gastrointestinal to upper respiratory and a lot of them are not flu. The shot for the flu would be helpful-but only for the prevalent strains of true flu virus. It would do nothing for the gazillion other viral infections seen in the winter.

After all it is the year when some married people get the itch.;)

Heck, they call traveling to Florida to see your girlfriend the flu!;)

We really seem to match up well against Brown. Wish that was the case against a few other teams in the ECAC. We did seem to play well against Dartmouth and OK I suppose against Harvard. But we need to figure out how to match up with the other 8 teams before the playoffs start.

So true. You could say we have their number in RI. I'm defintely not popping the champagne yet but let's put 60 strong min together tomorrow night and get this party started.

Where do you expect us to be at this point?

Well, for sure I did not think we'd be in last place in our league. We are only one of 5 teams that offer scholorships. finishing in the top 4 with some consistency is wjere I thought we would be. After all I keep reading and hearing before each season, giving a grace period for the first year. We are now battling it out for 11th place. Is this where we should be?

Mostly agree-but still feel the first Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 was far superior. Robert Shaw just had the patent on being menacing (The Sting, From Russia With Love).
The remake of the Thomas Crown Affair was pretty good. But as you have shown-most remakes are horrid (The Time Machine, War of the Worlds)
OK, so it's mid-night & the original, "Taking of P/1,2,3" is on TCM.....now I have to watch it.:D

Enough of this BS about scholarships. Harvard & Yale can offer 30 scholarships a year. How many of their kids are paying full freight? Hopefully this years frosh will step it up next year. and we are not losing much. Pirri and D'Amigo leaving will hurt another season but I am not giving up on this season ever. Hope springs eternal in the bankruptcy world and on the ice. ::eek:

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

I cast my vote for the original. Loved the dark humor placed in it.

Knew you would appreciate it-love when Robert Shaw near the end asks if we still execute in this country and then takes care of his own business. Martin Balsam was as usual perfect in his role (achoo!). Sometimes there is just nothing as good as an original. Now if we can put together 60 great minutes against Yale, my weekend will be wonderful. I suspect Diebold in net and perhaps no other major changes. This should be more of a speed game and less banging-Yale has been one of the quickest teams in the league for years ow. Yesterday there were 8 special team situations and we ended up +2 on them. If we can hold the number of power plays down for yale tonight we could be talking about a successful weekend.

Exactly. If you total up the tuition and living expense that the student/athletes pay for the entire teams for most of the Ivies, i don't think it would buy a good meal at McDonalds. The 5 schools offerring scholarships are up front about it. The other 7 schools find their own ways to pay the kids. I also have not given up on this team-If i did not give up in 1965-66 why would i give up this year on a team that really has a lot of talent on it?
