How awesome was this weekend?! Watched the game tonight via Yale Athletics, and the team looked pretty good. This game was remarkably similar to Black Friday's game against Yale, but this time the bounces tended to go our way, and we've learned how to score since then. We're on a winning streak! Feels good.

SA is still young and it is very early in his coaching career. People are being way too premature in passing judgment without enough evidence because there simply isn't enough evidence yet available.

Listen who's talking......you really are from outer space!!!

Great weekend for Bryce. Bryce was in a slump and it's nice to see him turn it around. Maybe we should give credit to the goalie coach....oh wait that's SA. I'm proud of the guys and Coach for putting the hard work in during the week. Hopefully, this will quiet the let's fire our great coach crowd on the thread. Go Red!!!!

Doc, 2 goals is more than zero, and that's where the team was at the beginning of the season.

Completely off-topic, I'm watching the Michigan-Notre Dame game from tonight and it's my first look at the new arena because I didn't get the chance to watch the game early in the season. Anyways, the point of the story: there are no ads at all on the dasher boards. Just the interlocked ND, the Irish logo, and University of Notre Dame. It looks really, really nice.

Congratulations to RPI this weekend. Hopefully, Appert is happy with the process of the wins, too

Yup-and i appreciate the improvement from 0 to 2:). But we are still near the very bottom of the 58 Division I teams with our goals per game and I would feel a lot more confident if we started to just get to the 3 mark (not counting empty netters). National statistics though are a tad skewed for us since we have given up 10 empty net goals and one or more of those were counted as special teams goals against. I think we have given up 70 total in 24 games (60 without our goalie in net). Although still not a number to be proud of-If someone told me before the season, with the schedule we were playing OOC, that we would have only given up 60 goals after 24 games, I might have taken that and been happy.

Agree-and even though the ref put us down a man often, he did not put us 2 men down at all-which would most certainly have been the killer as it has been against Yale before(see last year at New Haven). I, too watched the game. Got real nervous in the third when we were down 1 man to apenalty and the ref's hand went up 11 seconds after. Thankfully he called it on Yale.

Doubtful it will quiet the crowd, but it is a good 2 games to build off of.

Before the season i had hoped to see an alphabet line of L-M-N. I am still thinking once Matt neal gets healthy that JL, MM, and MN together as an all freshman line could make a lot of sense.

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

I'm very cautiously optimistic about the remainder of the season. Sure, we won two games, but we've had this success in the past with some of our less-than-desirable records. Next week will be telling. We've had a number of "splits" (some W-L, some T-L) recently against SLU (the last time they swept us was 2005-06, we swept them in 2007-08) so it wouldn't surprise me if we were to get something going in that game (and would put us in a tie for the basement in the ECAC if we were to win), but the CCT game is REALLY going to be telling, since they are currently in position for a first-round bye depending on how the tiebreak goes.

Forget "the steak" that Bergin is buying Merriam, I have a feeling Bryce will be having 25 personal maids for the week. That's the best effort I've seen out of him in his career at RPI. If he can be that focused, I will renew my confidence in him.

Well put. I've been annoyed at Merriam's nay-sayers for awhile and figured it was pointless to say anything to them. Glad to see him doing so well.

@ HockeyMascot:

George Bailey called. He wanted to ask "why don't you stop annoying people?" I told him it would be pointless. I tried to explain to him that you come across as the kind of person who walks around at parties asking people to pull your finger when you have flatulence, thinking you are being clever. George did not quite understand; I guess he is a bit old-fashioned.

I am also cautiously optimistic and could easily lose that after next weekend.

This weekend is 2 winable games...we don't need epic efforts...I believe we have as much talent as either team....if we just play our game we should have a chance in both games....its all about the goaltending...if we can get the same level of goaltending we got this weekend the rest of the way out we will be OK...If you think its a lot of pressure from the coach when you make a mistake..try playing loose when every mistake you make ends up in the back of the net...Goaltending is the key from here on out...we seem to be on to something this weekend so lets keep it going...lets hope Bryce will put us on his back and carry us the rest of the way !

You can't depend entirely on goaltending. Keeping the puck out of your own net is the responsibility of all 20 people that put on that sweater with the letters R, P, and I on it and attend the event on the inside of the glass. Like we saw at the UML game, we lost 7-2, and sure, without Diebold it could as well have been 20-0, but Scott wasn't receiving practically any support from the other 18 (obviously only 18 since the 20th is a backup goaltender). Obviously it can also work the other way, which would satisfy your point.

Certainly winnable, but we have lost quite a few such games this season.

CCT lost to Colgate, so they're 5th by points, but 4th by %age.

1 weekend at a time. 2 wins this week is a positive, may not translate into a sweep this weekend, but let's take it and move on. Our starting point from last weekend could not have been much worse...
