Starting with no WRPI coverage of the game, and ending with the final horn.....fill in the rest and thats the part....

Kurt Stutt and I were at the game - we did the broadcast. Unfortunately our support staff let us down. Sincere apologies.

If Brock's bringing out one of the seven you can't say on TV, you know they're angry. I have this feeling he's going to have some extra stuff on his jersey next year, if you know what I mean. He and Diebold ought to kick some *** and take some names.
Where was it indicated that Higgs used one of those words, not that I would blame him.?

Not to sound like a jerk, but you said you did the broadcast.....to who?

We conducted the broadcast as though we were on the air (hoping that at some point we would actually get on the air) and recorded it. Given the amount of station downtime lately with school out of session, it may air on tape delay, but who knows.

I went back and took a looksee at the early part of the game thread - I think the panic around 6pm to 6:15 was a bit premature, since the station has been off the air quite a bit in the last month. What should have happened was the station would have come back on the air at about quarter to 7 for the pregame - unfortunately whoever had been slotted to be at the station to get us on the air and keep us there never showed up and the person we reached to try to find someone to do it couldn't find anyone to get it done. Pretty disappointing all around.

I am not sure that listening to WRPI broadcast would have helped me feel much better-but listening to the Union broadcast and watching their horrible video certainly made it worse. I don't think I felt this badly about a game since back in 1965-66 when I went to Boston to watch us play BU and our goalie-Dick Greenlaw made 78 saves. He was spectacular out there and kept the score far closer than it would have been otherwise (we lost 9-0). That team had far less talent on the ice every night against the opposition. This RPI team just has so much more. I am just puzzled as to why this team has gone downhill as the year has progressed. It seems that this is just what we have done every year for the past few years. We start out with some good or even great play-we get to a point in the season and just regress. I can understand one or two players having this happen to them(perhaps they lose focus or have some personal issues)-but how does an entire team of 18 skaters regress every season? On paper our goaltending is at least average, our defense should be above average, and our recruited freshmen certainly above what we have had in many years. What the heck is going on? Would love to see opinions posted by others as i am just completely confused.

As to the early panic, I was the first one to post that WRPI was not on the air. I don't listen to WRPI besides for the games and thus didn't know that they have been off the air a lot. i asked the question thinking that it could be my computer which I even rebooted to see if that could fix it. It wasn't a panic, just on concern. It's been a while, but WRPI-on-the web used to be quite hit or miss. So when someone posted that it wasn't on the air either, I figured that Shirley wasn't paying the electricity bills. ;)

I tend to doubt that any of us would want to listen now if were aired on delay.

There's more to a team than just players' talent alone. It's how that talent is used for the betterment of the team. The players are good when it comes to their own talent. The team is terrible.
The team has been terrible for a good portion of the last ten years. I realize we made the NCAA's last season by percentage points only to get blown out of the water by UND but is a first round bye or a trip to the ECAC Championships too much to ask? It seemed every year we used to make the end of March trip up to Lake Placid for the championship weekend, what happened...

Im still hopeful RPI can make a late season run and get itself to AC but im not holding my breath.

Listen to the post-game interview at the following link. Higgs used "one of those words" at about 5:08.

http://www.dailygazette.com/videos/2012/jan/14/934/

Brock Higgs was already my favorite player on this team, but after this interview he moves to another level.
Did anyone else who watched this get the feeling that when he returned to the dressing room that he was going to start a fight?
I think they should give him the C right now. We've got nothing to lose. Shake these guys up.

Brock Higgs was chosen by the coach to speak for a reason. It is confusing to me listening to SA's comments. We have heard in post game comments from day one that this team is getting better each game. All of a sudden he's not saying that and has turned to calling out the team. Have we been getting the wrong information from SA? I am confused as much as you are Doc!

Wow , Let's blame the captains people that's it , why not , you don't see the real picture here anyway so ya it's the captains fault . How many 3-2's have we converted on ? How many shots have we had from a 3-2 ? How many conversions have we had with 2-1's ? Do we know how to play a 3-2 or a 2-1 ? How has the powerplay been ? Has it changed much through the unsuccessful year ? How has the puck support been ? Are we playing on the defensive side of the puck or do we get sucked to the offensive side of the puck and end up chasing ? How has the flow been through the neautral zone ? Are we getting flow and attacking the puck in the offensive end , no because all the forwards always have to stop at the blueline because the puck hasn't been dumped at the right time ! These are just a few of many examples i could bring up . The game is won and lost by the "little" things done in the game , we are so bad at the little things it is almost embarrasing to watch . We can't even make two consectutive passes from one end to the other ! I have seen bantam teams play better away from the puck and generate flow . It is the captains fault that's it let's pick them today !! Let's maybe look at the boys thought process and ask were that comes from !! The mental part of the game drives the physical body and it isn't happening , must be the captains fault !! I am sick of hearing it is the leaders , all the time , it is a team game and is won and lost by the whole team so don't be so judgemental towards the captains , because you could have any captain on this team and it will not change a thing until the thought procces changes and that comes from proper execution and proper execution comes from practice and practice comes from the coaches !! Just my thoughts , be nice :)

Don't know what happened last night but I went to the games last weekend and I thought they looked a lot better than earlier in the year. Bob Gaudet said the contest between RPI & Dartm was a good hockey game.
If RPI forwards finished a couple chances they win both nights.
AIC? Tough to tell AIC looked out of place

The ECAC Tournament gives every team a second chance. This team has more talent and better coaching than some of the Colgate and Brown teams that have made post-season noise in the past. They'll get well at some point - they usually do- often against my team.

This is the kind of post I was looking to see. Apparently someone else has been seeing what I have been seeing and has been able to give some tactical examples. I still think our talent is out there-we have great kids-but we just have not played strategic hockey utilizing our assets.
