Onward to the North Country-and we have got to right the ship there. 1-6 OOC and now we have the league schedule. No way to predict how this RPI team will do until we know the status of the 4 forwards out hurt. Without them, we are weak offensively(especially on the power play). The defense appears solid. But we have to find ways to score.

The defense appears solid. But we have to find ways to score.

Playing teams that are not quite on the level of the ones we've been plowing through would help. Howe was fantastic this weekend, and we were generating good scoring opportunities throughout both games despite missing three centers, all of whom should be back next week.

I'd rather be playing these teams than the tomato cans Clarkson lined up.

It's a very basic hockey tactic. Sometimes we can pull the goalie in a number of games and not get scored on, we've had a bad luck streak in empty netters and last night's first one was a good example of a bad luck empty netter - dribbler.

Empty netters aren't demoralizing. It's going for it - and being in a position to go for it means you're hanging in there. Plus, I prefer a close game like last night that ends 4-1 on two empty netters, so the twits who do nothing but look at scores can continue to sleep on RPI going into the league schedule, especially with a 1-5-0 record (for those that also look just at records and not at who they played, hello Clarkson).

Definitely agree that we've certainly been holding our own against some of the top teams in the country without 3 of our top centermen. I guess my concern would be with the rest of the young players reading too much into the final scores...perhaps moot? I'm definitely interested to see how we do in the league...

I can't tell how it will affect anyone, but a good start against Clarkson should put that all behind.

i wont make another rpi post until season is over. i will come back at that time and you will see, i was right

Sounds like a good deal to me! Have a good season rooting for whoever you do and not crapping on other teams! Being right on the Internet is pretty awesome, trust me.

Also agreed. Too bad the clowns who analyze these things will look at a 4-1 score with empty netters as a "solid win", the only media that has the analysis of this weekend correct so far is all the local/newspaper media.

I hope Appert is telling them in the locker room the same rule that I follow in rooting for/playing any sport: you have to take it one game at a time, conquer it one piece at a time. Play each game as if were the last of any opportunity in your season.

I think we'll have no problem solving Clarkson's defense when we play them next weekend, especially after looking at their OOC schedule. If you want to be the best, you have to play the best.

The reason that we should join HE, but it looks like they are going to go with 11 teams and wait. If we were going there in 2013, something should have happened by now.

Maybe I will be wrong, like with the snow.

Haven't read a post but went to both games. My 2 cents is that Seth's Army was not out muscled. Both teams played a physical game and the Engineers didn't back down. As you know I don't always drink Seth's kool aid but his account in the Record seems accurate.
Someone has to be able to finish a play. I hope it is one of the four missing in action.
The goalies have not been a liability but despite very good play they aren't York.
Seth did a good job taking advantage of the smaller rink. That was obvious. The wings on CC were never able to get wide and RPI had the middle bottled up till the third period Sat. In that period the boys looked tired, but who could blame them. They just played one of the best teams in the nation back to back.
Not happy with the record but two great games this past weekend and alot of drama to come.
