Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

On Thursday, the Kingston Kimco Voyageurs lost to the Oakville Blades 4-3. Brock Higgs had an assist. Kingston trails in the best-of-seven playoff series 3-2. http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1244578

Higgs' line is now 15-6-12-18-12.
His total is 63-28-46-74-94.

All three of Kingston's goals were during a single 5-minute major penalty.
Heres some photos of Brock Higgs from last nights game.

Brock will be a very nice addition to the roster next year. He has terrific puck handling ability, a couple of times he skated the puck right through the Oakville D leading to some good scoring chances. He also has some passing skills finding open teammates through traffic on the other side of the ice, his assist was a beauty. No look behind the back pass back to the point which lead to the second Vees goal.
Laid down a couple nice hits as well. Saw quite a bit of powerplay time, scouting reports were accurate as he likes to park himself to the right side of the crease looking for rebounds. Early in the game he made a real nice play stripping the puck from Union recruit Ingoldsby leading to a nice scoring chance. :D He didnt see much if any penalty kill time and took alot of faceoffs. Overall I was pretty impressed.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

The pics are great but was wondering what your take on the game is and maybe some comments on what you saw from the recruits and prospects.
Kind of an uneventful game I thought. Only 2 powerplays for each side as well as some low shot totals. Leboeuf had a pretty solid game, except in the first couple minutes of the game he made a pretty bad play that lead to a Kings oddman rush which Carr was able to come up big for the stop. As for JL, I think his tank is running on fumes right now. He looked like a very tired hockey player on the ice at times. Which might be the reason for his scoring dropoff, combined with facing tougher opponents this time of year. The shorter college season should definately help with this.

Thanks for the report. I guess that I was wrong likening him to Watts.

I agree RH..and thanks for your report. I think Higgs will surprise some people who might think that he will be a 4th line grinder type...I think he has a ton of potential to be a playmaker in the ECAC.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

On Saturday, the Cornwall Colts lost to the Pembroke Lumber Kings 3-2 in overtime. Jacob Laliberté had an assist. Guy Leboeuf had no points or penalties. Cornwall trails in the best-of-seven playoff series 2-1. http://cjhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1245273

Laliberté's line is now 9-2-4-6-2.
His total is 59-64-52-116-36.
Leboeuf's line is now 9-0-5-5-8
His total is 71-10-24-34-74

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

Heres an article I found on the CJHL webpage mentioning both Leboeuf and JL.

http://centraljuniorhockeyleague.ca/view/CJHL/news-110/news_11875
"Mason's been our (playmaking) guy, and Guy (Leboeuf ) obviously has a big shot''
Keefe and the Lumber Kings' main concern is, of course, keeping Cornwall captain Jacob Laliberte in check. But, as has been obvious through the first two games of the series, they won't assign a player to be draped all over him, the way things went with Nepean's Craig Cowie in the opening round. Keefe said the Lumber Kings won't sacrifice their defensive structure to keep him off the scoresheet.
"We'll be aware of where he is on the ice,'' Keefe said.

Unfortunetly, I didnt get to see Leboeuf take a shot on Wednesday.
