Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

There was one guy at the BRF who I snapped a couple of shots of; wasn't sure if he was family of one of the players or a visiting recruit. He was in that area of the Field House for the whole game, and seemed to be talking to a number of different parents and players after the game. He was wearing a "Sauce Hockey" hat. I'm pretty sure that's Greg Burgdoerfer he's with. I overheard that his name is "Joey".

I didn't see anyone else to point my lens at; I'll keep looking in the future though.

I know I've seen the kid before, but I can't find him on any rosters...I 've been looking at the W. Ontario rosters as I'm fairly certain this kid was at the Niagara game....as was Quinn and others...help me out folks !

I'm gonna sound stupid here but if he's been sited at a number of games, maybe he's not a player at all but a friend/family member of someone?

That certainly could be the case.

I am surprised that there were not more possible recruits at the HFH on Saturday. Maybe SA knew that we were going to lose badly. :D

I think that most hockey players are measured with skates on.

the only real measurement you'll get when discussing players' true 'dimensions' is when either the college OR NHL central scouting measures them...they both utilize a medical scale and chart. No skates, sock feet. I stood relatively close to the young men in question and can't say that I buy 6'4"...but I've been wrong before and will be wrong again...

That's not nearly as intriguing as a mystery recruit.:D

I agree about Central Scouting. I don't agree that colleges always get it right.

I read it a bit differently...I think sa is sooo careful about his selections for OFFICIAL visits...from here on out he has to be efficient in his use of time and he can have plenty of players come watch on their own without burning valuable staff time for tire kicking...plus he might be confident enough to plan around recruit visits around playoff games!:D

Are we limited to how many possible recruits we can invite (besides for budget considerations)? I know that the players can only visit a limited amount of colleges, but I didn't think that the colleges were limited by the NCAA.

That could absolutely be true..I've just got a funny feeling he's a player...nothing to back it up though...yet.:D

Players can only go on a maximum of 5 official visits (at 5 different schools). schools are limited as well...I haven't rooted out the limitations though...more to follow...

I remembered the 5 from the last time that you posted it. (I am not that senile yet. :D ) If the schools are actually limited also that would explain things.
