Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

if you consider dragging 15yr.old kids from their home shipping them off to Michigan sticking them in a Strange home, sending them to a strange school and stuffing hockey down their throat 24/7 "doing great" then I guess I concede. And we wonder why when these Kids need to make decesions regarding their hockey life as opposed to life after hockey they as of late choose the shot at the golden ring...they only know hockey life.OBTW I believe USA hockey recieves a development fee from the NHL when these Kids turn Pro....I might be wrong maybe Red Cloud or RB could clear that up for us,,,and I don't think its "chump change" either. So is this about the Good OLE USA and our hockey prowess or is it about the money.I don't know but I have my doubts(que up days of our lives)This is the Canadien and Eurupean Model and we couldn't beat them so we decided to join them.Is this good or bad I guess thats a personal opinion.

There are of course some downsides to the USNDTP..but IMO, its been a big success. Before Ann Arbor, the New England kids who used dominate D1 hockey - along with MN H.S. kids - were ID'd as studs and shipped away from home to strange schools (preps) and had hockey stuffed down there throats (which is exactly what kids of this caliber want to be doing, by the way.) JMH's point about the CBA is a valid one.

stopped by HFH yesterday...the "old" scoreboard is back up. The side boards are up & the glass was being attached. The 2 ends were left open to allow const. equip. to move in & out. The "old" scoreboard was up & hanging from the rafters. Tinordi was there & he was telling me that he was under the impression that most of the work around the ice area was done, scoreboard included. The major portion of the remaining work appears to be the completion of the lux/vip boxes & the front entry. The ice would be in place probably late Sept.

Good report Turk. Thanks

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

It's all pretty murky. :)

RB's right Babo...lots of murk here. The Florida trip story appears to have been true, and there is some vagueness as to the status of his SATs -- whether he's taken it (we think so - I'll stand corrected, but I believe the S-F made mention it publicly) and what the score was/is/will be.

Whether we believe all/any or none of it, bottom line is he's not in Troy this fall.

My biggest issue (aside from him not being in Troy) has been and continues to be, that he's playing yet another year in Cornwall, where he has absolutely nothing left to prove in a league he has completely dominated for two+ years.

...if you come up with your stick against another player's and he's not expecting it, it will occur and is quite comical ...they do not call that as a slash...it's the exact same motion in the opposite direction.

Lacrosse defensemen loving refer to this as the "pinwheel" ...:D

Are we going to put Vinny Saponari on the recruit stat sheet?

Ralph will no doubt state his official recruit reporting policy, but he has in the past limited his tracking efforts to players who are committed to RPI.

That isn't to say we can't advise folks what certain kids are up to.... For example, Dubuque forward Riley Barber is currently leading the USA U17s in assists (4) through 2 games. :D :D

Today is 22 August 2010. There are 47 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Lets' see how the season plays out...I think the young squire might have finished his serving of humble pie and is going to make the best of his opportunity at redemption. It also depends on what SA sees as his pipeline vs. the amount of time VS can give him...and (this is the unknown) if his temperament fits that of the team's...we all agree that this is not a team with a superstar (or rebel dominating the culture. I feel strongly that the 'prim a dona' title will not work well in this blue collar/lunch pail atmosphere. I'm sure conversations have already occurred on this topic...

Didn't see it mentioned yet... or maybe I forgot. Anyway, nothing's set in stone yet, but it looks like the Albany Devils are going to have a pre-season game against the Adirondack Phantoms after the Cherry and White Scrimmage at the Field House.
