Just heard that the 'Hawks signed Marty Turco, so Niemi is out in Chicago....the Stanley Cup purge is nearly complete. Hopeful BP's phone doesn't ring. :D

nice assist at about the 50-second mark
Jerry making us proud. Boy, not alot of defense in these games. Reminds me of an nhl all-star game or a New York Knicks game

The boys are back in town. 5 of them are living across the street from me and I saw them moving in with their parents this afternoon

Excellent. Captains will be running the show 'til the coaches crack the whip...although if memory serves the coaches are allowed time-limited sessions with small groups of players.

They will be there longer than usual for captain's practices as the ice probably won't be in at the Field House until September.

Today is 3 August 2010. There are 66 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

I seem to remember concrete on the rink floor during the Activities Fair around the first week of classes instead of walking on boards that happen to be covering the ice... do they drain and re-flood the ice for that, or have they not yet flooded the rink to prepare for practices? I wouldn't think they would and instead would put boards down, but I don't know for sure.

Found this little bit of info about Chris Lewis, a forward from Ft. Covington who plays for Mike Addesa and the Boston Jr. Bulldogs. I wasnt going to post this because im not sure how interested RPI would be in a '90 out of the AJHL.
That is the philosophy that has drawn some top Division 1 prospects to Salem, N.H.’s ICEnter, home of the Bulldogs. Chris Lewis travels from Fort Covington, N.Y., to suit up for Addesa, and has been a high-scoring forward for the last two years. He finished second to teammate Steve Buco in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League scoring race in 2009-10 with 82 points in 42 games.

“It’s been really unrealistic. I was never really the goal-scorer, never the point-getter for my teams,” said Lewis, a 1990-born player expected to choose a college during this next season playing for the Bulldogs, his third campaign under Addesa. “Playing with Steve Buco, we connected so well. With everything Coach Addesa taught me, my dream of playing college hockey is coming true.”

He’s already been on an unofficial visit to Mercyhurst, and has planned unofficial visits to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Clarkson University.

He was the second leading scorer in a weak AJHL last year and as a '90 this would be his last season of juniors. If he's starting to get interest from D1 schools, im sure the schools involved would like to see him jump up to a different league at some point this season.

Thanks for posting it. Although it sounds like the interest may primarily be from Chris Lewis, and he may be planning visits to RPI and CCT because of an interest in engineering, I do think that it deserves mention here since he could end up being on the roster. We have had players from the league recently, but others (e.g., Cullen and Tinordi) have gone elsewhere before RPI.
