Thrashers site have him headed Monty's way

"Saponari will play this coming season with Dubuque of the USHL, as the Thrashers helped point him in that direction. He could have opted to play as an over-ager in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, but by playing in the USHL, he retains NCAA eligibility to play at another school in the 2011-12 season. (Saponari said his older brother will finish his education at BU, but not play hockey.)"

Dubuque did use a draft pick on Vinny, but he didn't appear on the 23 man list submitted. My guess is he'll be in camp to battle for a spot.

Top Scorer on a weak offense, he's got nothing on our boys :).

I sure won't miss him...I was sitting in the corner at HFH with Babo and the Hubster when LL buried the GTG against us ..I'm still smarting over that one.

Army wives should be in tune with all things acronym! :D

Oh, it's way worse than that...I served in the military! So acronyms should not pose a problem...I think the ones on this thread have much more innocent connotations than those we bandied about in the service...(oh, and I outrank the hubster...but he NEVER acknowledges it... )

WS I'm sure Monty makes him battle but he starts out as one of the best players on Saints squad. No doubt if the effort is there he will be in the Hawkeye state this season. He spends a year with Monty and and learns to be a good teammate. RC made a good point about staff needing to do their due diligence on him. Who better than Monty to gauge if he is ready to be a member of the Cherry and White. Long way to go but it would seem if he goes through a maturing process that he would be a nice fit in Troy (maybe on a line with JL ) . Everyone deserves a second chance (especially a forth rounder:) )

Actually you and GLM - on more than one occasion - used desparaging generalities to describe an entire block of the RPI fanbase, which I will always take exception to.

Forgive me for wishing our fans would cheer more for the team rather than cry and pout over them.

You're forgiven. Now forgive them if they wish that the team would win more often.
Prior to last year, they sat through a lot of losses and yet they continued to come back.
Like I said in a previous post, they will not jump out of their seats like some of the students, but they will cheer good play.
My one complaint is their rush to the doors even in close games. I have been to Troy, and I don't know what's there that calls to them.
These are good people with good intentions and they care as much as you do about the Cherry and White.

You say this as if everyone wouldn't like them to win more often. All I've ever asked of some of these fans is to have some patience and perspective on things. Perspective got lost a long time ago.

I'm all for increasing the vibe at HFH...god knows my "neighborhood" does our part --more often then not, I leave the HFH sounding as if I've been smoking unfiltered Camels.

What I take exception to is your sweeping generalities in whitewashing a whole group of fans over the actions or inactions of a portion of them. For crissakes, I've got two former players sitting in my section...they've got more passion for the program in their pinkies than you or I have in our bodies.

Patrick Koudys looks like a very good addition to the RPI line up this season.

Do you know what RPI stands for? Nothing else matters. :)

OK, enough. WS doesn't like it when we point out how lame the South Side is, I don't like it when WS gets all verklempt over it. Can we move on now?

And the new Marketing & Promo director is off to a start for hockey, offering birthday party reservations for hockey games: http://rpiathletics.com/sports/2010/7/30/MHOCK_0730103548.aspx?path=hockey

Wonder what the age limit is going to be? :D

If they only had this 50 years ago I could have had my Bar Mitzvah at the HFH.
