Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

I'm going to go ahead and file this in the hearsay file but if this is true I hope the staff is doing their due diligence. Jack Parker doesn't just give good players the chop for no reason.

Definitely sounds like a "tread with caution" case, but it could also be very similar to Bobby Goepfert's re-emergence at St. Cloud State - wiser for his troubles in Hockey East.

The article doesn't say he made the DBQ team...only that he "appears headed." Its more than hearsay as far as DBQ -- as Saponari was in their camp...and Monty has two roster holes to fill as he only submitted 23 men on the 1st...(Saponari was not one of the 23.) That list of kids does not need to be finalized until the season starts. Whether or not Seth is interested is anybody's guess - with 30 pts in 38 games as a H.E. Soph., someone certainly will be interested.

Monty Quote: "...The roster isn't set in stone by any means. I fully expect some players from our affiliate list to be a big part of our success this season. We'll even have some free agents who aren't on either list come here in September and make the roster."

The kid is 20 and did a couple of boneheaded things, but he didn't kill anyone. That said, I don't condone his strolling in late for the punitive phase of his punishment....Parker is the boss and did what he thought he needed to do. I'm good with that. That said, there are 8-9 kids on the Notre Dame squad who performed similarly and weren't dismissed from the team.

Thrashers site have him headed Monty's way

"Saponari will play this coming season with Dubuque of the USHL, as the Thrashers helped point him in that direction. He could have opted to play as an over-ager in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, but by playing in the USHL, he retains NCAA eligibility to play at another school in the 2011-12 season. (Saponari said his older brother will finish his education at BU, but not play hockey.)"

You have to Rep 20 other people before you can Rep the same person again. You also can't give more than 15 Reps within an 18-hour window. Any more questions? :D

Dr. Baer, have you ever given me positive reps for any of my postings?

Most of us typically sign our reps. However, if you are a premium member, you are able to see who repped you.

Montreal signed LeBlanc. Top scorer on the team as a freshman. Leaves a weak offense behind IMO.

Top Scorer on a weak offense, he's got nothing on our boys :).

I don't recall. I would have signed them, but I normally just use "Ralph".

Today is 31 July 2010. There are 69 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

I too have also sat on both sides, and for the most part I have have been sitting in section 10 the last two years.
The fans there are very quiet, but they know a lot about what they are watching.
Listening to their conversations, they know all the players and their abilities.
They could use some education on the power play, when all they want is a shot no matter who might be in the shooting lane.
They are older, and they show up all the time. I don't think that they would be loud even if the team were to win every game. They are just not the type of people who come out of their seats to yell and scream.
It seems that they have all been coming for many years and while it might not seem that they are supportive of the team, somebody is paying for those tickets. Year after year.

So, I think we can equate the fan participation situation to the story about the 2 bulls at the top of the hill looking down on their herd? I'm jus' sayin'...both sides have the right idea...neither is right or wrong...

Hey, I'm trying to get my point across without being explicitly obscene... there are children present, nyah... :D :p

Can someone do a remedial for the new (read: uninformed) on the most commonly used acronyms? I spend way too much gray matter attempting to figure out what you guys are taking about...:(

My guess is that it would be earth shaking! We are looking forward to the next few years. We should be making it back to Troy semi frequently within the next year or 2. We really miss the routine of being at virtually every home game.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

Actually the plot on this one thickened a couple of weeks ago. In the incident in question, the players were in the back of a jeep that collided with a green line train - and there was beer in the car. After the collision the players fled the scene (not surprisingly) but were caught. The original report made it sound like a bunch of irresponsible kids out tooling around in a jeep while drinking.

Recently, the driver of the train was suspended from his job. It turns out that the jeep was merely reversing direction on Comm ave - with the light and the T driver ran a signal. So the kids were drinking but not at fault. BTW... the driver of the jeep was the DD and did not have a sip of alcohol.

Wrong Boston school. That was BC.

I have followed the various threads here for 11 years and still find myself having to look up some of the abbreviations. When I was young the only one I remembered was LSMFT;)
