Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

Over the past few seasons for big games(Union, Clarkson, Cornell), It felt like I was in Lynah, Achilles, or Cheel, surrounded by visiting fans, behind us, infront of us, across the aisle, etc. Shouldn't have to feel the breeze from a Cornell students newspaper when RPI is being introduced. I dont pay $140.00 for that aggravation. I also don't need to hear how yesterdays physics lab was, and my favorite, "Why did they pull the goalie?"
Why does someone learning how to manage a hotel have to take physics lab? ;)

Basically everyone. And the fact that an RIT fan is quick to pounce at the mere mention of the school ...

"Pounced"?? Whoa there, chief. Chill out. I was reading your thread for other purposes and thought I'd inject a little humor based on a reference to something with which I am familiar. I guess I'll need to refrain from invading your precious thread from now on :p ;)

...pretty much backs up my beliefs.
OK, I just had to ask... What beliefs are those, exactly?

I liked the Red Army idea but the execution of it seemed to be off. It seemed like the students were divided into two groups because of it. Maybe a Apperts Army group get started. Requirement is to wear your hair slicked back for all games. Have Seths favorite hair product line sponsor the group...someone send this along to the new promotions and marketing person. :D

BRILLIANT!!!

...Wont mention names but I can put 1 and 1 together on who it was and I don't have an engineering degree.

I swear it wasn't me...had I been holding anything in my hand during the Brown series, it would've ended up hurled on the ice. :D

What we're all kind of dancing around in the HFH Civil War discussion is the team's ability (or lack thereof) to win at home...the Holiday tourney and the Brown series being the most glaring recent examples. WHEN the team starts rolling this year, the HFH attendance and atmosphere issues will improve, IMO.

PS: I know a lot of peeps who attend the games and text game updates to this thread, as well to buddies who can't make the game...

We can add Freakout to that list. Haven't won it in 4 years. However, as I had promised before, I will not touch the stage on that weekend.

Speaking of the stage, has anyone heard if they are raising/altering it? I believe RC mentioned in his HFH report that it had been removed -- which is a good sign I think.

That was my first thought, but I decided not to mention it. :p

I was thinking more along the lines of trying to seal the deal with Steven Beyers. Although he could have made a stop in Rockland for all we know.

I like the way you think...if he was there all week he had time for both. :D

I have not heard anything to that regard, aside from anything that may have previously been posted on WaP.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

As RC has correctly stated, its not Monty's job - nor will he have any time - to think about RPI. I do think that his close relationship with Seth can and will help us assess USHL players that we may be scouting... It is certainly possible the Monty will hear about or see a kid who may not be committed and could pass that info on to RPI.

No doubt Vines and Graham have a good feel for the kids in Western Canada...I guess its the northeastern part of the continent - that Monty clearly mastered - that will need addressing. Recruiting is every bit as much about building relationships with jr./prep coaches as is it is about ID'ing talent. That is where I think RPI will have to rebuild a bit.

I know it isn't Monty's job to scout or think about RPI but I know he will be on the look out and stay connected to Seth and will pass along scouting information. Just because he left doesn't mean he isn't still interested in the success of this program-so although it isn't his job- I believe he will always be on the look out for Seth and this program-JMO.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

My post was an light hearted dig on Glenn Beck's semi-sane ramblings - it wasn't political. Check it again.

Sorry but the Canadians were no where near the team that the Red Army was. You are just wrong on that one. And Herb Brooks essentially said as much when he was building the 80 team. Even his pep talk... "if we played these guys 10 times they might win 9.... but not tonight! Tonight you are the greatest hockey team in the world". The inference there is that the other 9 times someone else was.

JH my post was meant to be somewhat tounue in cheek in response to you also. See reference to Ken Dryden being a sieve. At least I didn't call you a commie:D. The Red Army team was good but I thought they feasted off eastern european teams that were in the process of building their programs. I think Herb knew this when he said in that speech and I am quoting "Their time is done". Herb was by and far the greatest mind in USA hockey even to this day. JH, you may be old enough to remember that he played the anti-trap for the Olympic ice surface. Run and gun w Mark Johnson, Broten, et al. Plus the Red Army team would seem to always catch Team Canada in the summers when they were either drunk or out of shape (see Espo) or both. No offense was meant and none was taken by our exchange, just trying to spice up the chat during the dog days of summer. Plus, I am off my medication. I hope this finds you well.
