Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Article about Curadi agreeing to play for Monty in Dubuque. http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=280172

"..."Luke's a big, physical defenseman who skates really well and just has a bomb of a shot," Montgomery said. "He's not afraid to play physically, either with the gloves on or off. He's the type of player who makes sure his teammates will have room to skate."

Also, an article about Monty signing Cornell recruit, Swedish-ish defensemen, Joakim Ryan. http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=280454

Just think, 6'5" 260lbs standing in front of the net on the power play. :D
That should get plenty of attention and leave room for the snipers.
I like it. :)

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Of course, I am posting this here as an open question as to whether Appert would be considered or would himself consider the DU post, should an opening arise.

Gut tells me no, but my gut also tells me Gwoz is going to retire at DU somewhere down the road.

The only real draw to OSU for a guy like Gwoz would be to take one of the biggest sport schools in the nation and try and turn it into a hockey school. But it'd be a tall task, even for him.

I totally agree with you, but who is the coach at Notre Dame, and why did he go there?
Some people have the dream of bringing college hockey to prominence at a National Sports school.
I still don't see Gwoz as that guy.

In these modern times, although I would like to think otherwise, the amount of dollars offerred is probably the determining step. If the offerred salary and benefits are enough, it is sure hard to turn down.;)

Do you think Ohio State is suddenly going to get serious about hockey? They already dropped the ball on hiring either of Rico Blasi's lieutenants.

Climb down from the ledges, friends. Mark Osiecki from Wisconsin is the new Buckeye head coach.

RC: Just making a general statement-not necessarily Ohio State-but any school. If they can offer the biggest amount of dollars it has to turn the head of most any coach.

Right, but you have to examine each opportunity by whether that's a real likelihood or not. You didn't hear Gwozdecky's name thrown around with the Western Michigan job, I submit that the way Ohio State has treated its hockey program, the same rules should have applied.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Concur w RC. Gwoz is staying put. He is probably flattered by the attention. I think Seth 's future lies in places like Miami or Denver (suits his up tempo style) but he will have to win here more- which he is starting to do.

Spoke to Chase last night and it got me thinking, who was the last RPI player to be a finalist for Hobey Baker (besides Chase,of course)

On Saturday, the Indiana Ice lost to the Green Bay Gamblers 4-2. Nick Bailen had no points or penalties. Indiana has lost the best-of-five playoff series 3-1, ending their season. http://ushl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1264289

Bailen's line is now 9-0-4-4-6.
His total is 67-14-31-45-103.

The seasons of all of RPI's known recruits have ended.

Today is 25 April 2010. There are 166 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Ralph: I have noticed this line for a long time-
Toni Sanders F Susquehanna Rapids U19 Red 34-53- 9- 62- 42

How does one go about scoring 53 goals while only getting 9 assists? in all my years following hockey I have never seen such a disparity. Was she the only one allowed to shoot on the team? I have seen players score a lot more goals than assists before but never close to this extent.

It appears that she was the only one with any talent on that team http://sgh.goalline.ca/player_roster.php?team_id=19999. She had more competition on the boy's team that she also played on http://www.cpihl.com/TeamPortalStats.cfm?TeamID=28.

I think if we could gather any stats about the number of "shots" taken (anything that counts as a shot, plus, let's also count anything that is getting thrown towards the net but isn't technically a shot because it went wide, or got blocked, or anything along those lines), that might give us a little bit of insight as to this number. Could she be the only one confident enough to throw the puck at the net, and the 9 assists were rebounds? Perhaps, but I doubt it. Maybe she just knows how to be accurate, or sees that perfect pass, which I think would be more of a reason why Coach Burke would be interested.
