Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Now to think about which threads I should start..... oh heck, it'll probably just be on a whim again. At least this time I picked a couple of the tougher ones.

And terrific, my (somewhat) easy travel weekends are in the middle of January and February. Those trips will be interesting..... Of course, I think we won one away game that I travelled to last year: Michigan.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Looks like road trips to NU, Union, UAH, Cornell, maybe Quinny, and Atlantic City are in order for the coming season. Good thing I'm done with classes at 2 on Fridays.

Today is 17 May 2010. There are 138 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 2 October for the start of next season.

The collective "your", of course...:D

Not to mention, "you" is both a singular and plural pronoun describing the second person.

Maybe this year will be the true test of fan support. I don't yet know if I will be driving out for RPI/CCT (though knowing a certain poster's persuasiveness I most likely will, as I did last year despite originally not planning to do so and being on work travel). It depends on whether or not I get season tickets with some friends or not. Hopefully this year you'll hear yelling from Section 33 from people other than burgie12, myself, and a buddy.

My prediction is that this year's fan support will be off the charts, regardless of the location, weather or band's attendance...we will be at as many games and Hubby's schedule allows us. I personally think this year is going to be the first of many playoff seasons (deep into the playoffs...):)

Oh, how I hope that you are correct. I have similar feelings, but I often do this time of the year.

Besides all the home games. I plan on being at the Northeastern and Harvard games, Lake Placid, Atlantic City. Other road games to be determined week of games. Cannot wait for the season to begin.

I think the worry about the CCT/SLU weekend is not band attendance, but rather students being on vacation. When you include the mandatory sophomore housing, there are less students renting apartments, which means less of a chance for buddies to crash on the sofa. Add in that many of the students are coming from further locations rather than just the northeast (which made semi-local travel easy; I do remember attending a game and making the 1:45 trip each way on that afternoon/evening), and that takes away a great deal of your fan base. However, there are many locals and semi-locals that understand the importance of this rivalry, and so I wouldn't be surprised if we hit at least 1500 people in HFH for the CCT game.

As for the rest of the games, I would expect the traditional ~2500-3000, with a sellout for Freakout and possibly BU.

The Collar City Madmen aren't going to AC unless RPI is there. Otherwise, we're all going to Rochester for the Atlantic Hockey tournament as a protest vote.

Sophs are now required to live on campus? If so, does anyone know when that started?

HAHA awesome. Ive never been to AC so I figure why not make a hockey trip out of a gambling weekend. But I do hope RPI is there so I dont have to deal with the crickets and Cornell fans in a half empty rink all weekend.

The league deserves to end up with Yale, Harvard, Brown, and Colgate.

This started either this year or last, or it will be starting in the upcoming year. I know that it was not in effect while I still attended the 'tute, but it has been in proposal.

That surprises me. I figured that the 'Tute would eventually eliminate the mandatory freshman year on campus. Instead they are going in the opposite direction.

Sorry for going off topic.

Never been to AC? I have, and you're not missing much. The ocean, a block and a half out from the ocean of hotels, and a very sketchy island. The tech fans may joke about things in the Futile Four, but it could happen in AC.

Too bad you won't be able to use it unless it's 3AM, as the minimums will probably be at least $15-$25 any other time.

Phew.
