Today is 1 June 2010. There are 123 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 2 October for the start of next season.

Let's add to that that Chase Polacek is a senior. Helfrich and Halpern are also leaving; I think Malchuk will have one more year after this next one because of the redshirt, Brutlag's also going to be a senior, but I think that's it from a forwards standpoint. I guess we'll have to see how having 18 forwards fighting for 12 spots helps our chances, and take it from there.

That is it unless Beauregard moves back up front, and indeed Malchuk has an extra year (through 11-12) because of the redshirt. Of course, someone could leave early.

SA over the weekend was at the Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp as a regional mentor. See story below - need to scroll down.

We're lucky to have Coach Appert, he is always working and scouting.

What do you think the chances are of York staying all four years at RPI?

50-50. It depends on what happens next season.

I get the feeling he'd have to be pretty redonk next season to have Columbus call his name early - but if that were the case I'd take it.

BTW, seeing some of the people jumping early (in some cases, WAY early) kind of reinforces the conventional wisdom that expecting four years from Pirri and/or D'Amigo is a definite pipe dream.

Pirri has an agent according to that article. Family advisor, perhaps?
The word 'agent' cannot be used as it denotes 'pay for service'. a Family Advisor is an agent who works on behalf of the player and does so without compensation. Semantics....

This is a case by case scenario in which the team who drafted the player will press for a contract if it sees a fit in the pipeline for development. If they like what they see development-wise while the player is in school, they leave them alone until he's 'ripe on the vine'. 'Advisors' will also create some stir because their paycheck begins if the player turns pro. Either way, what I hear is that a team wants its players to succeed at the lower level, build confidence, then pull the trigger.

Interesting-nice that you point out every time we travel out there we appear in the NCAA tournament during that season. A very positive omen:D

...My prediction is if he gets by the SAT's and meets the 'tutes requirements(not a given) he will end up here.My understanding is He's not that bad a Kid.And if you think about it the timing of coming next year is not a bad thing this will be about the time we need to start thinking about life without Pirri and D'Amigo. Not a bad replacement.

As much as it pains me to think of what yet another year of "will he or won't he" would be like, I admit there is a shot that JL makes it to Troy. Though if I were SA I'd tell him to get his fanny to Dubuque...but that's just me. Another year in Cornwall wil do nothing for his maturation --on the ice or off.

Interesting insights..good catch Aspy. I was particularly interested in Merriam's positive impact on Pirri and the rest of the guys as far as nutrition is concerned...that to me shows a lot of maturity and judgment to be that disciplined as a college kid where they bombard you with carbs and sugar.

I suspect that Montgomery has his two import spots filled already, and if JL was one, we would know. Quinn is one of the two. The Cornell recruit from Sweden apparently doesn't count since he is a dual citizen.

Nice recap of Dubuque's draftees..a very intriguing list of talented youngsters as well as some veterans...Including: Vinny Saponari (forward, recently booted from BU), Kyle Murphy (F) who left ND after his sophomore year (no points in 17 games), Cornell commit Steve Miller (F - Jr. Bruins), as well as Jeff Taylor (F- Syracuse Stars) from Clifton Park.

Should be a very fun camp and it'll be interesting to see who makes Monty's first roster.

Lincoln Stars blogger seems a bit PO'd that Curadi didn't show up there last year but received a Dubuque predraft tender this season http://www.lincolnstarsblog.com/2010/05/2009-entry-draft-review.html.
Curadi did not show up to the Stars tryout camp last Spring, deciding instead that he would play for the Penticton Vees of the BCHL. Curadi played 58 games for the Vees last season, accumulating 17 points (7g, 10a) and 98 PIM. Curadi recently signed a tender with the USHL expansion Dubuque Fighting Saints, so he will be playing for the Saints next season. Curadi is a giant at 6'5", 255 pounds. Curadi will attend RPI University in the Fall of 2011.

RPI U
