RPI 2010-2011 VI- Red Dead Redemption

Re: RPI 2010-2011 VI- Red Dead Redemption

After the know-it-alls at the (Union) Gazette declared RPI's season to be over the day after Colgate beat them, it's great to see them squirming to include RPI in the NCAA conversation. Leaman made kind of a gaffe during the selection show when he said that UMD would be hungry to win after being knocked out of their conference tournament early. Uh, wasn't Union knocked out early....and by the last place team (as was RPI, I know)? To his credit, he was trying to give them respect and not look past them. But it came off rather poorly. Past experience shows that any team that gets overlooked can surprise. Let's hope RPI is one of those surprises!

I wouldn't make too much of the selection show, or any perceived slights by the talking empty heads. Between the 5 commercial breaks, the highlights from some of the conference championship games, and Melrose spouting, there is virtually no time for any real analysis. A lot of really good teams got zero mention.

Good luck to you guys Saturday. UND appears to have it's hands full with a rested, and probably reinvigorated Engineers team.

TV schedule showing ESPN syndication which means it will likely be on Time Warner Cable around here. Hopefully we get an official word during the week about this. Oh and before troyboy or aspydad quotes me on saying I am done for the season, I take it back our season isnt over yet :)

We will need quite a bit for this one-the freshmen defense has to show they have matured having played an entire season, we have to show that we can score with more than Chase, Chase has to stay out of the penalty box (as everyone will have to-but especially him), and we will need on exceptionally hot and healthy goaltender. I am also sure we will have to make some in game adjustments as ND presents a huge and fast team. If SA can make those changes-this one may not be the one sided game that Mr Melrose seemed to take for granted. I really would like our boys to make him swallow hard.

I sure hope so, my old PC isn't the best. Will be interesting to see if the anouncers will do their homework about RPI.

I didn't think Leaman's response came off poorly at all. The question was poor in trying to get him to talk about Yale and he correctly spoke about his next opponent.

I agree with you.

I can't wait to watch the game. Wish it could be tomorrow, altough I'm sure the players need some time to go over strategies etc.

Im not too worried about the announcers not knowing about RPI. Im sure the boys will give them all they need to know in terms of what RPI hockey is all about.

Hmmmmmm .... interesting take.

Re: RPI 2010-2011 VI- Red Dead Redemption

Seems to be some discrepancy about the TV channel carrying the game - The NCAA website also lists ENPNU as carrying the game:
Midwest Regional - Saturday, March 26
Semifinal Game 1 at 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU/ESPN Syndication HD /ESPN3.com

But the ESPN Website only lists ESPN Syndication/ESPN3.com

Anyone have any more info? I think I get ESPNu if I sign up for it this week....

CJ Lee will be right at home at Resch. He scored a boat load of goals there with the Gamblers. Hope the shoulder has healed and can find the back of the twine there again.

Not on ESPNU. They have NCAA Lacrosse until 4. Syndication channels will be out tomorrow & Tuesday. If you have a dish you should be fine. As far as cable you will be at the mercy of Time Warner putting it on 1 or 3. We will hear in the next day or 2.

Yes, and that's why I added that he was trying to not look past his first opponent. I just cringed a little when he said that because it wasn't exactly the appropriate thing to say. No harm done I'm sure.

I agree with all the reactions to Melrose though. I would love to see him eat his words (or lack thereof), and I'd also love to see Polacek to outplay his Hobey competitor!

Re: RPI 2010-2011 VI- Red Dead Redemption

As for Melrose was surprised the lack of luv for Tute because he is a local guy (Glens Falls). Mid season last year he said that Cornell was best team in nation. How did that work out for him. He was a defensive guy who couldn't hit the side of a barn with his shot so he never gives respect to tape to tape teams.

I agree DrD. I know I have been harping on this one but I would love to see alot of Pat Koudys. The kid is rock solid and moves the puck well which will be needed against swarming team like UND.

Three of the six D3 playup schools made the tourney and another (RIT) almost did. I wonder what a certain former Middlebury president is thinking.
