Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

What do we hae to look forward to next weekend? Both games should be the type we can win. What changes do we expect to make? I would think we play both goalies over the weekend and get a couple of the forwards who sat into at least one game. Loving the defense so far-and it will only get better. Hope coach SA is practicing the 5 on 3 and 3 on 5 situations-seems like we will see a lot of those this year. Nice to end the long trip away with a very strong 3rd period and a comeback tie.

I'm glad the NU game is before facing Bentley. If the situation was reversed I'd be worried they'd be looking ahead and get caught off guard by Bentley (again).

I think they'll have their hands full with NU and will have payback on their mind with Bentley.

This may sound funny, but has anyone else not had their check for season tickets cashed yet?

I'm all for free hockey, but this is getting ridiculous...

Don't worry-it will get cashed. One year i sent a check in for the mdia guide and it took 3 months before it was cashed. :D

Does anyone know if RPI will have a media guide this year in print form? It seems like more and more schools are just publishing it on line.

I received a message from Kevin Beattie weeks ago saying that there will not be any more print editions of the media guide-he told me my collection is complete:p

Too bad. My collection isn't complete since I only have them from the 84-85 season plus one about 10 years earlier.

For a similar cost to buying a hard copy, you could probably take the pdf to a print shop and have them print it on decent paper and bind it. Then you'd have a hard copy to keep. Just a thought that popped into my head.

That would require work. :)

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

I know that it is only two games, but this is the best defensive team I have seen at RPI (since 1993). Even when they were totally out of it in the first period, they still played well in the defensive zone. In the second period, having to kill five penalties, they were perfect.
I don't know how good CC is, but the entire RPI team played great defense the two nights in Colorado.
It was good to see a forward score a goal, now if we can get Chase untracked, we should have a very good year.
I don't know what happened in the first period, but I hope that they got that our of their system.

Funny Seth was gonna take the ECAC by storm with a "uptempo offense" his best team may be his best defensive team. It better be! He needs at least 18 wins to save face? Eh?
You know what I've preached. I love being red.

I don't think that we can jump to conclusions based on three games.
Lets give it a little time.

Three games in five days against good teams and two at 6000 feet. Offense will break out. Only changes sat nite were Rabbani for Halpern and Koudys for LeBeef. Dolan stayed in and i liked his play. Koudys did have any problems hitting CC players. Best line Brutlag AAG & Malchuk who was excellent on PK.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Union might face Colorado Coll this weekend in the Alaska Tournament if both win or both lose. We might get a better picture how good CC is

The opponents are fixed in advance. Both Union and CC face the two Alaska schools. If Union were to play CC, they wouldn't get an exemption for that game.

Agreed, keeping in mind that coaches were only allowed to run practices starting on 10/2 and RPI was traveling/playing for about half of that period of time. Seth mentioned in his interview on WRPI that they had very little time to work on the PP/PK ....

If that's the case, we should not be putting any more work into the PK. ;)
I would hate to mess up what we have.:p

Agree-but we could use some help playing 5 on 3 and 3 on 5-i would be running drills for those situations. Just seems that 2 men down is beoming more common each year.

Offense IMO is like hitting in spring training. Pitchers are always ahead of hitters. I think the same applies in hockey. D is always ahead of O. We'll be OK upfront.
