Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

I'm surprised how high they have us. I still can't stop lamenting where we might be ranked with D'Amigo, Pirri (and dare I say, even Laliberte).

That's because it's INCH. INCH sucks.

If it's that important, I suggest crossing the 5th dimension to a parallel universe where this scenario happened. They've moved on or will show up next year. It's time to move on and support who is our team, not consider who we are not.

As for how high they have us, I'm taking as much into this poll as Coach is. I will make my initial judgement in two days time by using a source of information I 100% fully trust.

Ed Weaver's article in Wednesday's Record? ;)

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Hey folks,

I just uploaded some pictures of the Cherry and White game:
http://photos.cuttlefishtech.com/gallery.php?dir=cherry-10-2

I'd recommend browsing using the 400 pixel thumbnail size if you've got a beefy connection and a large screen (setting at the top).

I took over 900 photos, narrowed it down to about 250 for this gallery. I haven't gone through and corrected exposure or white balance, so there's some bright/dark photos in there. Regardless, they'll serve as a nice photo-introduction to this year's team.

Some captions for a couple:

Rogic's face as his scores his goal:

Kennedy drops Rogic; don't believe this was a penalty though:

AAG trips up Polacek to draw a penalty (click forward a couple to see the result):

AAG trips over Merriam's stick during the shootout:

Kennedy sneaks the game-winner by Merriam:

Thanks for the pics RHam. Now that they've painted the HFH interior, maybe they can splurge for new paint jobs for the Zambonis...:D That thing looks like RPI bought it second hand from ORDA.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Uhh ... no. Watched the pay-per-view webcast. UNB was up 2-0 going into last minute. Then took penalty. Then scored shorthanded empty netter, as UVM pulled their goalie on PP. Then UVM scored PP goal in last 30 seconds. Then UVM scored goal through crowd with less than 5 seconds to go. UNB 3-2 final.

First period had no flow due to penalties. UNB started to take control in 2nd period. UNB owned UVM in final period, finally scoring about 5 minutes in, and another about 5 or 6 minutes after that (once each on the second string and third string UVM goalies who played third period). Win looked safe until that bizarre last minute.
Whatever. Bottom line is UVM made it interesting.:D

At least we have two. Plus, I think we'd rather spend our money on having them work should a rogue T-shirt find its way to the ice. :D

I can't remember, do the zambonis have ads on them anymore? No access to pictures at this time. I know Stewart's used to sponsor along with the guess the attendance contest.

The one pictured has ads for Papa Johns.

Thanks, du78.

Ed Weaver article about the C-W game http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2010/10/03/sports/doc4ca80ccf04eb3358012476.txt with some comments by SA.

Edit: Sometimes, I think that Ed Weaver puts errors in his articles to see if we find them. That sure looked like JFK scoring vs. Merriam, not York, in RHamilton's picture. I suppose that RHamilton could have used PhotoShop.

From what I can tell, the outcome of this game came down to coaching. :D I for one was not surprised that the tempo was a bit lacking for Seth's tastes. Its hard to get psyched up to beat the tar out of your own teammate.

Even if folks don't want to read the article, there is a good picture of the new HFH windows in the article.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

You're getting predictable. :p

Oh no, I'm so hurt, coming from the master of predictability.

You're going to have to try harder than that, Ralph. The fact that INCH sucks can't be emphasized enough when junk like this comes out.

I realize that, but they could at least spill some red paint and stripes on it, before they place ads on it....And yes, I realize that I'm the only one worrying about this.:D The loss of sleeps is really getting to me.:p

Papa Johns in RHam's photo. I always thought that it wouldn't be very hard to barter with a body shop for a paint job, in exchange for a big ad over the headlights...just a thought. Hey, I'm just trying to improve the fan experience for y'all...Hooters girls as Zamboni co-pilots would be nice too... :D

Who coached the two teams in the C&W game?

As I recall, a couple years ago there were some big hits in the scrimmage that led to a pretty heated debate on here about the appropriate intensity level when playing against your own team. I am on the side that if you are going to play a game with a scoreboard, refs, etc. then all-out is the only appropriate way to play. Most others seemed to disagree. I do think that the apparent lack of tempo in the scrimmage is an inevitable consequence of suggesting that players hold up in some aspects of the game (if such a suggestion was directly made or even implied prior to the scrimmage).
