RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Perhaps I am a bit jaded here and it is not a great rip off by any means-but my vote goes to a player who performs well in 2 games rather than in just one. A player getting 2 points in each game rather than a player geting 3 in just one game and most of all to a player getting 2 game winning goals versus a player getting one game tying goal. I must admit though that a hat trick for a feshman is quite an achievement. Just my 2 ¢

And a very good 2 cents. That arguement would make sense to anyone. :)

I agree that Higgs deserves the award, but Carey had all of his team's goals on Saturday, played against, well, approximately equal, but could be argued as harder, competition, and was involved in 3/4 of his team's goals (as opposed to 1/2).

My vote would have been for Higgs, but there's two sides to the story.

GRuss, your link didn't work for me. This one did.

Ken Schott's take on ROTW. At least the other weekly awards were appropriate, well at least one anyway. ;)

Ken Schott is still under medication because the Phillies lost. :D Seriously, that is a good argument as to why Higgs deserved the award.

BTW, with Greg Carey (SLU), Josh Jooris (Union), Pat Koudys (RPI), Mark Luzar (Harvard, 2011) and Luke Juha (Clarkson, 2011) there was a lot of talent playing for Mark Jooris at Burlington last year.

Of course it is arguable-but Ken Schott summarized my earlier post precisely. ROTW has a W in there for Week-not a G for game. Voters really should look at the weekend in total. Just a pet peeve of mine. Not something to dwell very long on. Hopefully our boys will get much more recognition as the season goes on.

Schott is a Union homer who is likely taking credit for getting Union all those awrds after they didn't sweep the awards week one. Noticve that he didn't complain about RPI not pulling in more awards the last two weeks.

The league office has bigger issues than who is player or rookie of the week. They need to do something to stem the decline of the image of the league. When Penn State's men's team enters the Division I ranks the league they join will get a boost in visibility and prestige. If a Big Ten hockey league emerges soon after, there will be significant ripple effects throughout hockey and the ECAC will drop another rung on the ladder.

I personally hope that happens and RPI can make a move up.

Funny, I just heard him say "...Brock Higgs should have been the player of the week...I don't know why he wasn't, scoring two game winning goals..."

Why should he complain as a guest of another person's radio show? He has a blog for which he writes, and voiced a disagreement with one of the choices there. Why beat a dead horse?

Sullivan's blog, "Disadvantageous," notes that our Dutch friends from Schenectady have converted 41.9% of their power play opportunities thus far this season.

If ever there was a time to pay heed to the admonition, "Stay out of the box," Saturday will be that time.
