I read in the paper today that the TUC is getting a brand new LCD scoreboard  Maybe RPI can buy the scoreboard thats in there now at a discount. :D

T/U website is saying that a deal with a new AHL team is imminent. My guess is either the Sound Tigers or the Wolf Pack...we'll see.

Meanwhile, the GM said one enticement for a potential new team is the seven-figure upgrade planned for the arena, which includes a new LCD scoreboard, ribbon advertising running the length of each side of the rink and new atrium lighting for the front of Times Union Center.

I hope they can work something out, thats some pretty substantial upgrades to an arena that might just house college basketball next year.

That one would hang about 10 feet off the ice.

I havent been inside the TUC since the ECAC championship game last March but looking at some photos I forgot how big it actually is, I guess it would look quite obnoxious hanging inside HFH.

All these upgrades for Siena basketball and concerts. I knew Siena boosters were wealthy but that's nuts.

Sadly, I am sure Siena isn't paying a dime for the upgrades. I'd bet the money is coming from the maintenance fund that accrues from a small % of money from every ticket sold.

If it's a small percentage then perhaps they've been saving up for this since the arena first opened.

An article by Ed Weaver about SA's lineup decisions http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2010/02/10/sports/doc4b73991162d17210878233.txt.

Kevin Beauregard has been practicing as a defenseman.
Thats interesting, never thought about putting Beauregard on the blue line. He has good size, if he can learn the position he might be an asset come playoff time or even next season. Then if Curadi comes this fall we wouldnt have to recruit another Dman for 2010.

This article seems a bit strange at this point in the season and I hope isn't distracting this team. Here's my question- Why is it that we have two proven, talented point producing forwards riding the pine at this time in the season? Why aren't these players performing to their potential? Just maybe the motivational techniques used are not working-not all techniques used work for all players. If this team is going to be there in the end, I believe these coaches need to figure this out because Cullen and Helfrich- when playing their best- give the team the best chance of winning. JMO

I don't know why they are not playing to their potential. Certainly, the motivational techniques haven't changed from one year to the next.
Maybe they are playing hurt and not telling anyone, maybe it is attitude.
Last year, they were two of the big three players on this team. This year, they dropped to 4 and 5 at the beginning and now they are no where.
It could be an ego thing.
I can only hope that they get over it, what ever IT is.
We are a much better team when they are at their best.

I think that's the whole idea, in that Coach demands much more of those two, especially given what they have done in the past. Hopefully Pat isn't falling into a "sophomore slump". Tyler may still be plagued by his previous injury (though I'm not sure). IIRC, Tyler had a little bit of a sophomore slump.

One other thing Coach may take into consideration is the types of teams we play, and how that gives a chance to win. Take Scott Halpern for example; very quick, but not very big. Not the best match against the rough teams like Union or Cornell, but perfect when playing Yale or Princeton. Also, Justin Smith was mentioned by Coach. Play him on the bruiser games (Union, Clarkson), but then bring in one of the other players for a different game. If we have that kind of depth (and it looks like we do), let's use it to our advantage!

Hmmm... maybe he skates better backwards than he does forwards.

Ed's article today claims that it will be a monumental task for us to grab one of the top 4 slots. Psssst Ed... we are 1 point behind SLU with 6 games left. I wouldn't characterize this as the same level of difficulty as say Clarkson managing to finish in 11th. :D

Not sure if this statement makes you an unbelievable optimist or just someone with a very extreme definition of what a SS looks like. Turning Pat's season into a success just might qualify as an actual monumental task.

I think he's basing his argument on the fact that we're evenly matched, and we have 4 common opponents, meaning we'd probably do the same against them. The only difference is that they play Yale/Brown, where we play Colgate/Cornell. Based upon how we did at home, that's why Ed is saying it's monumental to get past SLU, where SLU would probably lose to Yale and beat Brown.

However, anything can happen, that's why they play the games, and time will tell where we stand. Just hope to heck that Q-Pac wins tomorrow.

For the record, I am quite the optimist. Given some of my friends' feelings about the way things have been going with the team the past couple years, I need to be optimistic, otherwise I would be happily posting in the Union threads right now. :p

I believe some of us were thinking the same "slump" held true for Tyler last year, although he continued to get ice time, and some of the slump may have been due to injury. Perhaps last year Cullen felt as he had to "step up" because he was the touted player, and with Kirk MacDonald leaving, we didn't have too much of an offensive threat. Even with the People's Line (though broken up now), I think that Pat would still want to show that dominance, and that's probably what Coach wants to see.
