I'm not talking about BC and Michigan. We always knew they'd only play us downtown. I'm talking about other schools like Ohio State or Penn State or the Ivies or Vermont or Quinnipiac or Ferris or Bemidji or Alabama-Huntsville ....

I'm glad SLU and Clarkson (and now Union, Colgate, and RPI) have been willing to come to town to play us, especially now that we're in the Liberty League with them (excepting Colgate of course). But let's add some other teams outside New York State into the mix.

It takes 2 to schedule. Teams have to want to play RIT. The way RIT played the last couple years, anyone that was decent and looking for non conference opponents that were pretty good would not have been looking at the Tigers because they would not help them in the pairwise. That's when most of the next couple years schedules were made up.

I can't wait for the first time somebody talks about the goalie situation and complains that none of the choices are the quality of Ruby....

I'm so backing that comment up with a fire Wayne Wilson comment ;)

Just setting the priority list:

Fire Wayne Wilson
Change of Conference
We need a bigger boat, oh um, Barn! :p

You would also need to take travel into account. More likely than not (with the exception of your BCA game where you regularly get 10k attendance; not sure if the school offers gate percentage to get them to come), you're travelling, and that can put a toll on the budget. Being somewhat close to former CCHA teams does help, and obviously the NYS teams are close by as was previously mentioned. Just like how SU plays Colgate and Cornell for NC basketball games all the time, the cost for travel is low. Sadly it's not like the 60's, 70's, and possibly 80's where you could also consider it a showcase of state talent and make it a bit more special, but it's still always fun to play you guys, especially after our first meeting (first to 10 wins).

Today would be a good day to release next years schedule so we can start talking about who the starting goalie is!

Facebook account says the schedule will be released tomorrow.

If Rotolo isn't starting I'll eat my hat.

Not sure why there are a few posters talking about firing Wilson unless it's some sort of inside joke I'm not aware of. He has very successfully been the face of this program since 99-00. I'm pretty sure when they dropped to 2 games below .500 after they lost 4-3 to RMU on Feb 20 that nobody predicted his team would rattle off 8 straight wins including the conference championship and knock off the #1 ranked team in the country to get to the NCAA Midwest Regional championship game. That took some very good coaching in my opinion and was probably a major factor in signing him for 7 more years through 2022. And all the success is without athletic scholarships. Imagine if they were a true D1 school with full athletic scholarships to hand out!

Ok cool. Plus isn't the women's coach one of Wilson's former assistants? He's doing pretty well too and just signed on for 5 more years so Wilson must be a pretty good mentor too.

Anyone else see that Fostvelt has left RIT to go to a Canadian college?

just curious--why isn't the BGSU game at the Polisseni Center?

Because that is the Homecoming game, which is traditionally held downtown to accommodate the larger crowds. The last few homecoming games have drawn sellout crowds of 10,556, more that twice what the GPC can accommodate and about 5x what Ritter could have seated

There were a couple stretches over the last two seasons where either Wayne's system either wasn't working or the players couldn't execute to it. If you look at the first and second half of this season, the team was night and day regarding being comfortable in the system; we're all glad here that it finally clicked. Those were some frustrating times though, so people start throwing out the idea of a new coach.

I'd say he has proven his coaching skills are more than proficient enough by this point in his career. When you have that type of situation and the systems aren't working as well as normal it's typically operator error, meaning it's the players that aren't executing up to par. I know we live in a society where it's never the players' fault but we all know that's BS. Fans that can't endure the harder times should probably jump off the bandwagon permanently. You don't deserve to celebrate the good times if you've not been supportive during the hard times. The hard times are when a true fan proves they are actually a true fan!

Five OOC games to start the season.....wonder how that's going to work out!

Considering the losses of Garbo and McGowen, these games are going to be important to find out who will step up into top scoring roles. Everyone but Clarkson had 20+ wins last year. I would rather this way because the conference games are more important. Hopefully the team can pull off an win or two, but as long as we see improvement as the season goes on I'll be happy. On the plus side, it's nice starting with teams that appear to be weaker and RIT has historically done well against when it comes to the AHC in AIC and Army.
