Almost worked? I'm not sure we watched the same game, because they gave up as many ENG as they scored. And one of their scores was on the PP which very well could have happened 5v4.

My point is that Air Force did get some pressure 6-on-5 after pulling Truehl. Keep in mind that first ENG was pure luck, as Mitchell was just trying to clear the puck and it took a lucky carom off the boards. It could just as easily have been Air Force getting the puck in the net to close the gap to 2.

If Air Force had got one early after pulling the goalie, they could bring their goalie back and play normal five on five for a couple minutes and see if that gets them momentum.

This is a tough one for sure. Ruby was great on Friday and may have won us the game. 3 goals on 25 shots Saturday was less good, but he still backstopped us to a sweep. I feel like Wilson will start him on Friday - I'm not sure if I agree or not with that decision.

I think it is a flawed argument to claim that it would have been "just as easy" for Air Force to score an EAG than it was for RIT to stumble into the empty netter they scored.

I think it is pretty well determined that pulling your goaltender results in either an ENG or no goal much more frequently than it does an EAG. I guess that's why Serratore is coaching a division 1 program and not me, but I can't endorse pulling the Goalie until the game is lost, and in my evaluation, down 3 with 9:00 left to go, the game is not yet lost.

I'm just glad a good part of today's posts were about about decisions Coach Serratore made in AF's losing effort. We might instead have been posting about a game three tonight or worse, performing a post-mortem on RIT's season. We still have more hockey to go and I am happy to be still be talking about next weekend, goalies, line-ups, etc.. AF is now in our rear view mirror. I'm glad we beat AF, they have been a thorn to RIT, certainly an accomplishment to be proud of, but this RIT team has a bigger goal in mind in winning the Atlantic Hockey Championship. They certainly have the talent to do it.

They certainly have the talent to do it.

I think this has been the frustrating thing. A lot of us thought they had the talent to win the conference, but seemingly didn't really put it all together until the Robert Morris series.

There is no question about next weekend, especially if you consider the history of decisions Coach Wilson has made when their debate over who should start in net. He always goes with who won last. So I pretty much see Ruby the rest of the way, unless he lets in 6 goals and RIT find a way to win 7-6 or something. When you think about what he accomplished this weekend. He was on pace to have a 0.500 Goals against until Air Force pulled their goal and made it anything but a normal hockey game from that point. But ending up with a 2.00 GAA is much better than any previous RIT Goaltender against Air Force in the playoffs. Not to mention he did something that DeMike and Mads could not do, beat Air Force in the playoffs. I think he answered his critics and put to bed this myth he is a horrible goaltender.

Just like Gotkin's call to pull the goaltender in OT last weekend. I believe Serratore made the right decision to pull his goaltender in the third. Arguments against the move just fall short of looking at the big picture. Air Force had scored 2 goals in about 110 minutes on the weekend. They would have to score 3 goals in 10 minutes just to extend the game into Overtime. Komey had it right, the idea would be pull you goaltender with 10 or so to go, hope you can get one in 2 or 3 minutes then play 5 on 5 and take some chances and hope you can trim the lead to one and then pull the goaltender when you normally do in a 1 goal game. It all most impossible to do, but it was more impossible to play normal and expect to over come the hole they had dug...

I think this weekend's win is the last big Monkey of the Tigers back. The playoff record against Air Force was about as mind boggling as the winless streak against Niagara. I can't wait for Friday, I really believe they are a better team than Canisius but will need all hands coming to play. I think we are looking at potentially one of the best AHA final four as they've ever had...

I got it. I just whole-heartedly disagree. I've heard this philosophy from the NCAA b-ball selection committee for years and thought it was ridiculous. Your body of work over the entire season should matter, not just what you've done in the last 10 to 20 games. Tournament fields should not be selected by who is most likely to be successful in the moment at hand, but who performed the best over the course of the season.
But ultimately, that is not at the heart of what I was complaining about in the first place. My original beef was with potentially denying a bid for a team that is clearly the best in their conference because of an upset in a short tournament.
But in an attempt to stop boring all the other posters on here any further, I'll drop it.

MOST EXCITING WEEKEND OF TIGER HOCKEY since Albany in 2010. Let's hope it can continue next week. The Tigers certainly picked an awesome time to come together and kick some a** with 5 straight wins.

I don't think you can say that the season ends at the end of the regular season. http://www.ritathletics.com/schedule.aspx?You have to keep up the tempo until the finals! One way to resolve this would be to expand from 16 teams to twenty four which would help teams like RMU who had a good season but will be staying home after next weekend ☺

As much as you can feel bad for another team in your league you have to feel bad for Bentley, they just can't catch a break. Western pod sends four teams to the BCA next week. Congrats to Mercyhurst and Coach Gotkin for scoring three in the last nine minutes. They will be a formidable opponent for RMU.

Ruby should start. He had the last two wins and his confidence is sky high. Do I think he is better than Rotolo, no but the team won in the playoffs with Ruby and should keep a rhythm.

If RIT and Canisius both play very well on Friday I think RIT comes up on top. RIT has too much firepower for Canisius to contend with in my opinion.

The amount I can feel bad for Bentley is equal to 0.

I think the only team I'm capable of feeling pity for is AIC, and I mostly just feel bad for their players having to play for AIC.
