Tanev's play has seemingly gotten a lot of good review on the Vancouver boards. I'm would almost be surprised if he does not make the club next year as a 6th or 7th D-man next year.

I listened to the Vancouver radio coverage of the game and they spent at least five minutes of the pre-game talking about Tanev and also had a short pre-recorded interview with him. They again talked about him during the first intermission, always saying good things. They mentioned RIT several times.

I thought it was reported that his family's nomadic lifestyle made his high school transcripts subject to scrutiny by the NCAA and ultimately resulted in a loss of one year's eligibility.

If that's so, then 2011-12 is his last year of eligibility, meaning Watson and Ruby would be called on sooner than we think.

An advertisement for the Binghamton Mets (AA Baseball Team) has the same music as the WITR Hockey Game coverage intro music.

This is my understanding but I welcome anyone in the know to clarify. He was one of the oldest players on the team last year as a sophmore.

Keith Ballard said in an interview today it's going to be him and Tanev in the lineup again tonight. Of course he could be lying for surprise, so we'll see.

Ehrhoff was out skating on his own Monday and firing away with his big slap shot. But he did not skate with the Canucks Tuesday, and Keith Ballard said it will again be him and Chris Tanev on the Canucks third pairing.
...
"I think Chris and I did what was asked of us and we'll do the same thing tonight."

The game's at 9 EST tonight, coverage on Versus starts at 8:30. Go Canucks!

Lerchie mention that he had to sit out a year because he was "denied by the NCAA [clearinghouse] because my high school transcripts were from all over, California, Texas, Portland [Ore.]. They didn’t fit together and I was short a science credit and had to sit out a year. The schools talking to me didn’t want to wait."

I never did find out if that means he has one less year of eligibility on top of the year he had to sit or if he just had to sit that year and then had 4 years. NCAA clearinghouse is hard to follow...

Tanev was awesome tonight. 20+ solid minutes, made all the quiet plays. His pairing was just never hemmed in their own zone, and it had a lot to do with how well Chris was reading the game. His offensive game has a long way to go (which I am confident he can realize as he puts on weight and gets more confident at the NHL level), but he's going to be a very good NHL defenseman for a looong time.

Hard to imagine he would have been a senior for the 2012-13 Tigers squad if he stayed in school

How incredible and amazing would it be for RIT and of course Tanev if just a season removed from RIT he hoists the Stanley Cup and gets a big gaudy ring? His play last night was really good. Enough so that as I cheered for the Sharks, he frustrated me once or twice.

RIT could ride that for recruitment for awhile..

It will get even better if Brenner does well with the Marlies next season and makes it to the Leafs within a couple years.

Even if the Canucks' ride were to end here, he'd have quite a distinction of having played in the Frozen Four one season and the Stanley Cup Finals the next. I'm sure it's happened before, occasionally even within the same season, but still quite an exciting feat for sure. And to the best of my knowledge, he may be the only one to do it in the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Army and Air Force have opened up their season ticket windows for 2011-2012.

They haven't posted when they are playing, just what teams they are expecting to host.

Schedules can't be far behind.

I really hope that Tanev gets into a game in the Cup finals so he can get his name on the Cup itself. Since he didn't play enough games in the regular season he has to play in the finals to be on the trophy. If he does, then he will get access to the trophy for 24 hours, and would hopefully bring it back to RIT for what would absolutely be an amazing event.

As long as there is room on the Cup (each team gets a set amount of space), the Canucks can ask the NHL to put more names of guys who didn't automatically qualify. I'd imagine Tanev would be pretty high on the list of guys...behind only Alberts most likely.

Am I a bad person that it saddens me that the Canuck's Ehrhoff and Rome will be returning to the blueline? (see http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=563933&intcmpid=van-news-ehrhoffrome) It would be so cool to see Tanev on the ice for the Stanley Cup Finals.

Fear not for the way Boston's playing (yes, I'm saying Boston will win tonight) and as hard as they've been hitting, Ehrhoff and Rome might not make it through the series. I don't see them sending Tanev and the others back down to the Moose during the finals so they'll be within easy reach for when the team needs them.

With the Moose's season being done, they will likely stay with Vancouver until the end of the finals.

I guess I meant to say that they'd be on the bench during the game instead of in reserve. Latest opinion on their defense from their NHL site......

As far as match-ups go, Kevin Bieksa and Dan Hamhuis will be tasked with going up against the Krejci line while Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg will be given the assignment of neutralizing the Sedin unit. Considering the Bruins' team size and their willingness to engage physically, don't be surprised if the Canucks again decide to tweak their top-six defence group to favor the likes of Aaron Rome (6'1", 218 lbs.) and Andrew Alberts (6'5", 218 lbs.) as opposed to Keith Ballard (5'11", 208 lbs.) and Christopher Tanev (6'2", 185 lbs.).
