Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

Also, we have now entered the big time as the URL is ritathletics.com (as opposed to a site under the rit.edu domain). I always made fun of the big-time schools having .com for their "corporate" sports programs, but now we're there too. I guess I have to stop making fun of them ...

Actually I would have to think it's based upon the website's sponsoring company. A number of other schools (RPI, Union, Texas A&M, quite a few others) are using the same template, or at least something very similar.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

I think the new site is great. Ads are ads, they need to keep sponsors happy (and I hardly notice them).

I've typed in ".com" for at least 4 years now, so it's nothing new to me.
I agree. I have no problem with the ads. they're down at the bottom of the screen (when you're scrolled to the top) and not in the way. The interfacing is pretty much as it was before, it just has a new stylized look. The only issue I had is when I pulled down the Men's Sports dropdown menu, it showed up behind the scrolling stories picture instead of out in front of it like it should be.

I, too, have only ever used ritathletics.com. I didn't even realize you could get directly there through rit.edu (although I'm sure I did at least the first time I ever went there - just don't remember).

I have always used the .com, and the ads don't bother me. That, and I don't often go to the site. Anything I want is pretty much here.

They finally put a list of people for the Craig Charron game at MCC tomorrow- you can see it here. Burt is going to be playing as well as Ringwald. According to twitter there are still tickets available.

I believe that RIT outsources the content management to Sidearm sports. RIT has been one of their clients since around 2002, I think.

They have a very impressive list of clients:
http://athletics.internetconsult.com/client_locations.aspx

Yes, and that probably explains the .com as well. Perhaps Sidearm can't directly serve a .edu site. Dead horse and all, but ritathletics.net and ritathletics.org are both available and either would seem more appropriate for a university program (to me). And do you guys really still type URLs? I would always just put RIT hockey into google (or RIT athletics if I wanted the general site) ...

So, back to hockey, anyone got any more news/rumors on the arena or potential conference shake ups?

I have locker room info - locker rooms are almost done. The visiting mens teams will use the old womens locker room, and the refs will use the old men's locker room - If the women are home the same days, the visiting womens team will use the old mens locker room and the refs will be out in the tunnels again i believe.

You know its been a long summer when we're still talking about the website.
How many more days until hockey?

Season ticket page is up ... http://www.rit.edu/fa/hockeytickets/

5 sections of reserved seats this year! And still having the section by the concession stand set aside for season ticket holders until 10 min. into the game.

Quick question for those of you who've purchased the season pass from B2 / America One before.

Is the season pass only good for the actual live broadcasts, or does it also allow you to watch on-demand replays of the games in the following days/weeks?

I had B2 the last couple of seasons. It only covers the live games. On-Demand is extra per viewing.

Regarding B2, the first couple of seasons it worked out great and was able to see all the games without any difficulty. Video quality was acceptable but definitely not great. But hey, a big improvement over calls to the Tigers sports hotline and hockey3 recaps from years ago. The fact that almost all games used the WITR radio feed, it was a definite plus. Especially when the guys forgot their mikes were live between periods. Last year they switched to America One and I had nothing but problems. Dropped or choppy video, no audio, etc. Don't think I was able to watch more than a couple of games uninterrupted. At least 5 or 6 games were just outright cancelled because of "on site technical problems". Customer service was useless and left me feeling like I was bothering them when I'd e-mail. Needless to say I will not be getting a season pass this year.

Wife just mentioned we should be in Rochester for Thanksgiving.......I immediately checked all hockey schedules from Buffalo, Toronto and Rochester..... RIT playing that friday vs RPI====Score!!!

So when Individual tix go on sale, give a heads up. I imagine since the school is on break that it should not sell out, but with a NC game it has the possibility.

Thanks for sharing - much appreciated. Sounds like it'd be super-frustrating, especially if I can't watch the replays without coughing up extra.

August 31 individual game tickets go on sale at GFH. http://ritathletics.com/news/2011/8/2/MHOCKEY_0802111458.aspx

I wouldn't be surprised if RPI game sells out ahead of time. The SHU series last season was during Thanksgiving break and the crowds were right up there. I can't remember the actual numbers, but there were plenty of people standing.

Thanks. GA would be a first come first serve and/or Standing correct?

I am still waiting to hear if they will be working an Alumni event in Wisconsin vs the Badgers. Seems like the only three games i'll catch. Only got to one last year out of luck at West Point.

Yes on the GA...

I would think they will have an alumni event for Wisconsin, but I have been wrong before.
