Students save $9 buying season tickets if BCH vs. St. Lawerence isn't included. $21 if it is.

18 games at Ritter (counting the exhibition), is $90 at $5 per game, so I get them saving $20 without St. Lawrence, $26 if it is included (advance price)

Typically, the BCA game is included in the season ticket package. I would be surprised if it is not.

While I doubt it not being included it doesn't say on way or the other.

I didn't count the exhibition cause even with the season ticket that game is up in the air if people go.

RIT has some path's to each "BELT"

THE BELT:
UMD loses the second game of the series to either Minnesota or Notre Dame
Minnesota loses to Wisconsin
RIT plays Wisconsin

RIT has held the belt twice -each time losing their first defense

Notre Dame loses The Belt to either Lake Superior or Ferris St.
RIT plays those teams in the Catamount Classic

NY Belt
Colgate loses to Army
RIT beats Army

RIT has only held the NY Belt once

The AHA Belt:
Earliest chance would be against Air Force

RIT has held the AHA belt 12 times, last time being from 3/20/10-11/7/10

What exactly are these Belts?

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

What exactly are these Belts?
You know how wrestling has "Belts" where if you beat the current belt-holder, you become the new belt-holder and you get to claim greatness?

Imagine that the first ever game between two college hockey teams (Johns Hopkins v Yale in 1896) awarded a "Belt" to the winner. Well, the Belt continued to pass in that manner for every game played since. At the end of the year, it will end up with the national champion (unless an independent or a team that does not qualify for their conference playoffs holds it at the end of the regular season, then an "Alternate Belt" is awarded to the national champion).

A similar idea was applied to state / conference belts. The first game between two MAAC / AHA teams (Quinnipiac / Iona, Oct 1998) gave a belt to Q-pac. When Q-pac lost to a MAAC opponent, they gave up the Belt. And so on and so forth.

So, komey is trying to show a couple early scenarios where RIT can lay claim to either "THE BELT" the "New York State Belt" or the "AHA Belt".

There were a couple of really awesome threads that went deep into the history of games being played in the early 1900s and traced out the belt all the way from present day at the time (2004-ish) back to the first NCAA tournament (1948) and then all the way back to JHU v Yale in 1896. I'd link you to them, but, unfortunately, the Board deleted them because they were too old.

The current thread, which Ralph (really old and posts way, way too much :D) will keep track of the various Belts that are currently being contested and followed throughout this and subsequent seasons.

New website launched. Looks great.

If you say so. I think there's too much going on, and what's there is hard to read. It's just too busy to make a good user interface.

I can't figure out if the website is for RIT athletics or for advertisements.

Yes, I agree with that, it's hard to focus on and figure out what you want to do, not simple enough.

I can't figure out if the website is for RIT athletics or for advertisements.

haha, and adblock plus doesn't block the ads! :(. First thing i did too.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

I hope they are still working on the website. There were some serious mis-renderings of images, text etc. when I looked. And it does seem to feature the ads too much. They pop out while the content is hidden in the noise. And that background image is nothing but visual noise. RIT should/can do better! E.g. a simple white background would be visually better and make the ads not pop so painfully (sometimes simpler is better). The content parts themselves seem good overall (save the rendering issues).

Also, we have now entered the big time as the URL is ritathletics.com (as opposed to a site under the rit.edu domain). I always made fun of the big-time schools having .com for their "corporate" sports programs, but now we're there too. I guess I have to stop making fun of them ...

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

I think the new site is great. Ads are ads, they need to keep sponsors happy (and I hardly notice them).

Also, we have now entered the big time as the URL is ritathletics.com (as opposed to a site under the rit.edu domain). I always made fun of the big-time schools having .com for their "corporate" sports programs, but now we're there too. I guess I have to stop making fun of them ...

I've typed in ".com" for at least 4 years now, so it's nothing new to me.

Hasn't it always been ritathletics.com? Or am I missing something.

And I remember people giving uscho.com a hard time when they switched their website up last year. Give it some time, get used to, before you know it they'll have all the bugs worked out. Either way I like it.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

Hasn't it always been ritathletics.com? Or am I missing something.

My way in has always been something like www.rit.edu/ritathletics. It could be they had ritathletics.com aliased to it, but I just never saw it. Not a huge deal, but I don't see why any university would want a site with a .com extension. (e.g, it almost implies that donations to athletics are not tax deductible) Maybe I'm too old school, but it just rubs me a bit the wrong way.

And maybe I sounded more critical of the design than I intended. I'll stick with the background being visually offensive (too much contrast), but the thing I noticed I really don't like is how the ad icons are poorly cropped (e.g. text going right to the edge on "TOSHIBA" and other ads and the add text being so much larger than the content) I have no problem with the ads and appreciate the sponsors, but the design could be cleaned up. That makes me wonder ... is the inclusion of ads something that makes it require the .com rather than the .edu extension???
