This directly relates to the women's team but since there's no active thread for them currently and it also applies to the men's team as well I'll post it here.

It's interesting to see opinions on recruiting "in the wild" like this. Obviously we still have a lot of hurdles to clear, and despite there being some hilarious misinformation in that thread it seems scholarships are the main issue.

Jeez, why on Earth did I read that? Looks like Canada's version of Topix...

Hilarious misinformation indeed...wow lol

Well I'm not surprised it's a Canadian forum. They are going to be horribly misinformed about the academics. They do bring up valid concerns though about the fact we don't offer athletic scholarships which does affect the talent we get.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

RIT needs to find diamonds in the rough for talent or have some sort of special connection to get close to top talent. But being a consistent winner does help.

Very good school. Hockey? Not so great. RIT cannot hand out athletic scholarships so they have a hard time attracting any real talent. Same issue at Union, good school, last choice in hockey for many.

Union last choice in hockey that lead to a National Championship... WOW, I feel like I am reading a forum on the Presidential race...

Union's women's hockey team didn't win a game last year. They are lucky if they get a couple wins in a season. Their women's program is nothing like their men's program.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess Union is the reverse of Elmira College where you got a decent women's team and a terrible mens program! I just had to post that for old times sake!

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Almost June and patiently waiting for a schedule!

We have a few dates already:
Saturday 10/15 - vs UConn at Blue Cross Arena (Brick City Homecoming)
Friday 10/21 - @ Union
Saturday 10/22 - @ RPI
Friday 12/30 - vs Bowling Green at Huntington Center in Toledo, OH - this is a double header with Toledo's ECHL team.

Previous schedule release dates:
June 23, 2015
May 29, 2014
June 10, 2013
May 22, 2012
June 20, 2011
July 12, 2010
July 14, 2009
July 7, 2008
July 25, 2007
July 10, 2006

Should be this week or early next week, if the June/May cycle of the past few years continues :)

Edit: likely had RPI/Union dates swapped. List above is now correct.

RPI shows RIT at the Houston Field House on Saturday October 22nd. I haven't seen if Union has released their schedule. So maybe Union is Friday the 21st and RPI is Saturday the 22nd. I want to make it to the RIT vs RPI game so I'm hoping it's Saturday night.

I likely have it switched - I'm not sure where I got that information from. The spreadsheet run by FlagDUDE08 matches what you say, so I'll update my post and my spreadsheet.

Shameless plug - the link in my signature has what we know so far for a composite schedule for the league, and has a tab for schedule release history by teams.

Next season's exhibition will be against Brock per an interview with Caleb Cameron.

You could link the interview! =) I hope that wasn't the most interesting thing in the interview!

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

The women's schedule has been posted - http://www.ritathletics.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=399&path=whock

4 interesting things I saw:
1) They are home Brick City weekend, facing Union at the GPC at 2:05 on Friday and 12:05 Saturday.
2) They are playing Penn State on a Thursday night in October (10/27) at Ritter Arena. I wonder if there is a logistical reason for this, or if it's "just because."
3) All of their home night games begin at 6:05pm, instead of 7:05pm like they used to. I wonder if this is to appeal to families with children more? I don't expect we'd see the same on the men's side, as the league begins games at 7/7:05 generally.
4) The CHA switched to a single weekend, 3 day playoff instead of having the 4 lowest seeds play a best of 3 before the single elimination semi's and final.

Edit, re: point 3 above - this could also be because they typically play at 2:05 the next day, so the players would get an extra hour of "rest" between games.

I suspect the men's team will be playing two at home that weekend after the previous weekend on the road.

Anybody got data on if the Woman's schedule always comes out first and if so, what's the gap to when the Men's schedule was released?

The interesting thing is the women's schedule hasn't had an article about the schedule released yet, like they typically do. I just found the schedule page was up.

And of course I do I have a list of when the Women's schedule normally comes out!

Women's schedule release dates since going D-1:
2012-2013: 5/29 (Men: 5/22)
2013-2014: 6/11 (Men: 6/10)
2014-2015: 5/30 (Men: 5/29)
2015-2016: 6/24 (Men: 6/23)

So, the men are generally just before the women. I asked on twitter last week, and they "Very soon. Ideally, early next week."

And as I am typing, they just tweeted "Getting closer to announcing the 2016-17 schedule. A few last minute changes are close to being finalized! Who's excited?"

Schedule Watch, Day 1

Anybody else notice that RIT doesn't show up on any of the currently released schedules of other teams?
