Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

I copy and pasted this from the Quinnipiac thread.

"Interesting report from CHN hockey writer Adam Wodon on Twitter:

People in the know seem to think QU very content in ECAC. QU president loves rubbing shoulders with the Ivies. Don’t expect HEA to pursue

https://twitter.com/CHN_AdamWodon/st...14167759265792

I would think Hockey East might pursue Quinnipiac, but maybe QU declines. I know that Quinnipiac is trying to grow the academic profile of the school, so maybe they're hoping their academics will soon fit closer with ECAC than Hockey East, meaning they'd rather stay in ECAC. A lot of factors in this decision."

Conversely, teams like QU who have a relatively easier schedule can slide right into the top spot.
Um... no. Are you really saying that your Atlantic Hockey brethren help RIT's PWR? While it's true that the OoC games against top ranked opponents make a huge difference, you play more games in conference and they matter just as much if not more.

As for QU and the PWR, we finished overall #1 because we swept St. Cloud back in November. Without that the Huskies would have likely claimed the top spot over us.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

I think Q is the only team they would want to fill that spot. While Bentley and Holy Cross could be logical fits, I don't think either can commit the resources to hockey that UConn was able to. That could change if Bentley can get their own arena and out of the JAR.

More Qualified teams like say Denver, UNH, and Minnesota State? Oh wait your talking about teams that didn't make the tournament those teams did make the Tourament and lost to RIT :D

I don't believe SLU lost to RIT.
Not quite sure re "your" point but some might argue that Dartmouth,CCT, Cornell, Minnesota even RPI are more deserving but don't have the luxury of competing for an auto bid in what is acknowledged to be the weakest conference
Hopefully to be rendered moot by RIT "moving on up" to the ECAC w/ other Liberty brethren

I'm saying when you're winning a moderate SOS in a league like the ECAC, you're team is going to get ranked over a team from the NCHC because their schedules are all moderate to hard.

To argue those schools are more deserving based on PWR is idiotic until the SOS is normalized in college hockey. Until then, conference bias will be conference bias.

The idea that a team who lost in their conference tournament deserves a spot over a conference champion is laughable and wrong. That's one of the great things about college hockey - that your season can't end on a win unless you win it all.

You were comparing RIT to QU weren't you?

Considering PWR only reflects your performance to your schedule, it harshly penalizes schools with limited OOC game that do not get the opportunity to play a hard schedule. Conversely, teams like QU who have a relatively easier schedule can slide right into the top spot.
We finished with a SOS of 17 while RIT was 59. The ECAC had 8 teams in the top 25 PWR; AH had 1.

I can assure you we didn't "slide right into the top spot"... we earned it.

Nope, talking about QU sliding above NCHC schools.

A double post, you must be really drunk.....okay, no more watching other hockey teams play, time for the Tigers to go make Quinnipiac's fans dream about next season or Hockey East!

Go Tigers!

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Great front page article in today's D and C w/ usual conjecture on an "upgrade" to ECAC which I am sure most of us would
love to see.

Once again, not having being "grandfathered"- a la Hopkins, SLU, CCT, CC etc - such a move, unfortunately, does not change the
inability of RIT to offer "hockey scholarships" - aka grants in aid, regardless of need.

A move to join the Liberty brethren would certainly up the program's visibility
but would arguably make it far more difficult to qualify for an NCAA berth

Anas wearing a no contact jersey today. Apparently this is suppose to be some sort of ruse to catch us off guard.

On behalf of the entire ECAC, I'd like to apologize to RIT fans for Rand's whining.

Tigers (both teams actually) are playing well, great game to watch!
Breakaways, got to finish!

The RIT Pep band is coming through clearly on the broadcast, but that second goal really hurts.
