>>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Tigers pick up a defensemen recruit for 2016 or 2017 in Regan Seiferling (6'2" 160lbs -3/9/1997). The 18 yr old play for Yorkton in the SJHL. He's in his 2nd year with Yorkton and was Rookie of the Year for the Terriers last season.

Sounds like he's a offensively minded D, kind of in the mold of the Norrish twins, who also played for Yorkton.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Kerins is out again tonight; is he in the doghouse I wonder?

Also out is Perron-Fontaine. No reward for scoring last week I guess.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

RIT has too many good defensemen to play them all. I bet Perron-Fontaine plays tonight.

They played a good 2 periods last night, but I would feel better had they gotten at least 1 past Murray. I suspect he gets the start for AIC. Rotolo shook off a shaky start, but was not tested a lot after the first. I would put him back in there again.

He is in tonight on the third line. I'm looking to see what our 3rd line offense brings tonight with cameron, goldberg, and kerins. I'm expecting Kerins' first few goals.

One down!

Goal and an assist in the first alone. Solid start.

The guys sound on it tonight. Can't take it too much for granted since it is AIC but some good news at last.

Rotolo put up a very mediocre stat line last night, sub .900 save percentage against AIC. Short starting tonight, definitely looking like he has a chance to play his way into more starts.

True, but that's just because AIC only got 17 shots on goal. From the sound of it, the two goals were odd-man rushes, difficult for any goalie to defend.

Does Wilson tag-team the goalies this coming weekend before settling on a permanent starter for Bentley?

Who says that he would settle on one. If they win games while alternating, why not continue until one of them shows they aren't capable?

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

With Madolora and DeMichial, you had one goaltender who you knew was the starter and I'm pretty sure that boosted their confidence and helped them play to the level that they did. I would think the switching in and out of goalies as happened with Ruby and Rotolo has to mess with a goalies mindset and limit their ability to get into that zone where they can stop anything shot at them.

Rotolo was playing pretty well late into the season last year until his injury so not coming into this year and starting all of the games is a little surprising.

Any time you read about goalies at any level they will always echo that it messes with them mentally to not know when the next start will be. Even a dedicated backup on a team with a #1 at least knows his role on the team and will have the right expectations. Platooning ends up tough on both guys as they never know if their next start could be their last and so they are playing while always looking over their shoulder. That might work for the position players, but it's horrible for goalies.

It's worked for Robert Morris the past 2 seasons with Shafer going on Friday and Izyk on Saturday, although RMU was forced to go with Izyk in the 2014 postseason when Shafer got hurt, and last year Derek Schooley again went with Izyk in the postseason because he was playing a bit better. Izyk has better numbers, especially so far this season, so you may see him play more.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Takin' care of buisness...gotta assume Rotolo will get both starts after pitching the shutout tonight. So far the balanced scoring we knew we were going to need has been there and the freshmen in particular are scoring.

Meanwhile, RIT's likely to have to beat BC or someone in a tournament (probably the national one) to beat a ranked team this year; Robert Morris dropped the first game of two against AIC at home and so likely will drop from the rankings this week.
