Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

I can't imagine too many of us deluding ourselves into thinking that any OOC games would be easy. But losing 6-0 and 5-1 is a tough pill to swallow, and those two teams (at least for the moment) aren't expected to be amongst the elite nationally. Yes, I know St. Lawrence is ranked, but I don't really consider # 19 (out of 60) as being too significant, especially this early in the season. We'll see how the season plays out. Maybe they're both better than expected.
Totally agree the scores were worse than expected. The optimism from the exhibition game was squashed with this result in games that matter. Hopefully they will learn from last weekend and play better against Bowling Green.

Saturday's going to be tough but I think a split with Colgate is possible, it all depends on how the BGU game goes.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Bowling Green lost last night (4-1 to Western Michigan, about even shots, gave up 2 PPG) and they have Canisius next this Friday. Hopefully Saturday will setup for RIT as a nothing to lose effort and the boys will put together a solid effort. The last two Brick City's I thought were 'tall orders' for RIT against Michigan and BC (should of beat Penn State the year before). I thought the team was very tight early in both games (although the goal outburst in the 2nd period against Michigan was terrific). Hoping for a different outcome this time around but regardless I'm sure it will be loud, orange and crazy like it always seems to be.

Hopefully they steamroll Canisius so that they aren't playing with as much edge against us. If Canisius manages to beat them you know Bowling Green will come to Blue Cross extremely hungry for a win.

excellent! how to make the Falcons feel right at home. :D

The orange may make them think they're welcome, but I'm sure the loud will convince them otherwise. ;-)

Should be a great atmosphere. Wish I could be there but it's the wife’s birthday, so I'll be watching off the DVR after the fact.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Good turn around this weekend

If you had told me ahead of time that we would tie the #10 ranked team in the country I would have been very happy. I still am but it sucks to hold the lead for essentially the entire game and end up settling with 3 minutes left for a tie.

Tigers came out flying and we're clearly gassed by the third, the Falcons spent a lot of time in our zone before they finally got that goal.

Rotolo and the defense played very well. Besides obviously Skirvings line I thought the Mikowski, Kerins, Miller line was great too.

All in all a good weekend for AHC with some very good results against bigger/better OOC teams.

Just returned home from the ride back from Rochester, snow squalls all the way home, I couldn't believe it, snowing even at the Roscoe Diner, but home safe and sound nonetheless. I'm kind of in your camp with the tie Winter. It would have been awesome to win but when we couldn't get that third goal I started thinking the worse, that Bowling Green would chip away and eventually grab the lead, so yeah, I'm happy with the tie too.

It was a great Brick City Weekend, was able to get a room overlooking Blue Cross Arena, so was able to walk to the rink, got a table at Dinosaur, no problems there little bit of a wait, and my wife actually enjoyed the game unlike the previous two years that I brought her . Didn't get the give-away T-shirts because we only got there 10 minutes before puck drop. Got plenty T-shirts from previous years anyway. Sat in section 224 in the back row literally right in front of the RIT Sportszone guys so it was cool checking out their broadcast in between periods although I was careful to stay out of their shot. The people to my left were complaining about the similarities of the uniform colors between RIT and Bowling Green. I was okay with it but I understood their point, RIT might have thought about wearing white to creat more contrast. If you sat in the back rows you really had to pay attention to not mix up the players. Now I understand blackswampboy's post, looks like Bowling Green wears the same colors even down to the Burnt Umber although I hope they call that color brown. :D

Also agree that AHC had a good weekend against the OOC teams, Bentley especially represented the league well, congrats to them.

thanks for the hospitality, RIT. terrific atmosphere, our side really enjoyed it!

deep history--the Cleveland Browns nicked their color scheme from BGSU, but we still wear it better.
we have alternate orange sweaters too, which really could've messed with minds. ;)

Thanks for the pic of the team and the interesting history of your colors, not sure how RIT chose their colors (I'm not an alum, but a SUNY guy too, Maritime) hopefully the two schools can get together and set up an RIT visit to your barn sometime soon. Best of luck with the reminder of your season.

Not so sure about that piece of your analysis. RIT outshot BGSU 16-8 in the third period. Both teams had their moments, but the Tigers came so heart-stoppingly close to putting a third one past Nell at least 3 or 4 times in that period alone.

When you look at the big picture of that game, it was pretty evenly played overall (maybe slightly in the Tigers favor, but not much). Both goalies were very good and both offenses (particularly RIT's) generated some really good chances. It stinks that the last goal came so late in the game, but if you just saw the way it was being played and didn't know when the goals were scored, a 2-2 tie wouldn't be shocking. It does seem like RIT "blew" a lead, but really a 2-1 lead can't be held for more than 50 minutes very often.

deal. coaching connections, easy travel, unfinished business... what's not to like about this series?
we'll wear our whites.

P.S. Did your prez follow up on the orange hair dye thing?

The orange hair is for next week's game at home against Colgate.
He doesn't need to challenge anybody to get a sellout at the Brick City game. That's been sold out since 2010.

I was thinking the same thing, guess we needed to get by the mid-point in the work week before this thread woke up again. Wish I was more local to the northern part of the state as I've never been to Starr Rink, will there be a live stream of the game?

Yes, game will be streamed, last chance as we get a new rink next year.

New rinks are pretty rad. Speaking from experience.

I think the tie against Bowling Green helped ease some angst against the Tiger Faithful following the disaster in the North Country. This is the last test the Tigers have before the conference wars begin. Getting some points would be a great way to go into that part of the season.
