Yes, we can win games here and there against better leagues, which is good. We're still the 44th best team in the country right now (KRACH) out of 59.

Unless RIT makes the NCAA Tournament or some AHA team remaining on the schedule manages to get ranked, this will be the first season that the Tigers did not defeat at least one ranked team.

Or the Tigers could end up ranked (for some solace)!

Current weather report for Sat. is 23°F with Heavy Snow... (why is this a conference game?)

How many have we played?

The weather effects both sides equally....I don't understand the notion that this is somehow unfair. Ask the players how they feel about it, I dare you.

Agreed. And, honestly, given RIT's struggles with Niagara over the years and the fact they are probably the underdog (I know Niagara has hit a few bumps), I really don't mind them playing in conditions that might be conducive to a funny bounce or two.

Oooo .... a dare. No problem with that one. I never said anything about "unfair". My implication was that it is a different game and therefore "stupid". Sure both teams have to do it, but the outcome of a real hockey game (that is intended, in modern times, to be played in a controlled environment) might well be different from a game of something resembling hockey played in extreme cold, low visibility, etc. I'd just like to see the results of a game that matters be the same game as the rest of the season.

If it were football, then fine, the weather is "part of the game". It is not in hockey. I'll say it, RIT was dumb to schedule this as a conference game. That said, I don't think it will be "unfair" to either side in particular. It's just kind of like playing the final round of The Masters on a putt-putt course.

Is it?

Well, let's look at the most grown up, high level, professional hockey league in the world. Yes, I'm talking about the NHL. I wonder what this internationally revered league of the world's best hockey players thinks about outdoor games?

Oh look, they are playing HALF A DOZEN OF THEM THIS YEAR.

So in order for your analogy to be right, it would have to read;

RITProf said:

To which I respond...you're right, it's just like that.

You could argue that one game in an 82 game NHL season being played in sub-par conditions has much less meaning than RITs 35 game season.

You could, but since we all seem to agree that both teams are impacted equally, this seems irrelevant.

Look at it this way...its an RIT home game with over 5000 in attendance. That should make up for any other issues which will likely be very minor. Its been cold and dry, that ice will be fine.

I am more worried about wearing a 3rd jersey for the frontier game cause know how those games usually turn out :(

Wouldn't this jersey technically be a 4th jersey since they have the black ones again this year? So 4th jersey, we should be fine.

I think the gray is gonna bring a good vibe to the team. Has anyone heard about a sale/auction of those jerseys yet?

Clarkson was not ranked at the time RIT played them.

Well there ya go then. We can blame the schedule for our failure to beat a ranked team.

Of course, in 2009-10 we didn't beat a ranked team until March...

I could see them almost picking Niagara for added ticket sales, knowing Niagara generally has a decent fan showing at Ritter.

Honest question, does it matter if a team is ranked when you play them? It would make sense if that was the case, but then again it's still the same team.
