Yup. Back to reality. Ruby held his own for the first half of the game, but when you face 51 SOG from a quality team, it's only a matter of time before the wheels fall off (unless you're Jocelyn Guimond).

Watson seemed to do pretty good with the first 44. I suppose he could have let in 3 more goals in the next 7 shots, but I somewhat doubt it.

Watson made a strong case for himself this weekend.

Rough loss, but getting a split is a great start. They have a few things to work on to get ready for Penn State and then into the conference season. I think Watson will likely start against PSU based on what they did this weekend. And not for nothing, it was only 3-2 into the third. These were the hardest games RIT will play the regular season, and they managed a split. Not that I think RIT will win them all, but if the Tigers played and show the character they did for a lot of the weekend, every game the rest of the way is winnable.

Well, AIC was able to take care of Penn State today. This bodes well for next weekend.

However, Penn State outshot them 63-29 (!!!!!).

Yes folks, the AIC goalie stopped 61 shots tonight. That is...incredible.

Wow...that is incredible. Plus, AIC never trailed in the game. We'll see how AIC and PSU fair tonight in their rematch.

For those who like to at-large watch, RIT getting a split should help comparisons against a good portion of the CCHA in the common opponents category. Getting a win against Penn State next week will help make sure that they don't lose ground against teams.

Scratch that - most of Penn State's games are against AHA teams. Mich State is the only CCHA team playing them. Union and Wisconsin are the only likely other tournament caliber non-AHA opponents that Penn State plays.

Let's hope we don't lose to Niagara this year too ;)

It will be interesting to see how RIT does against the Purps now that they finally got that monkey off their back of not beating them.

Tough break on the second Michigan game. At least you have another taste of what to expect when you go up against the powerhouse teams in the nation in a two-game series. Granted I'm not sure how often you'd see that even if you were to join the ECAC or some similar remnant if the Ivy League were to split, but given the respect you have been receiving from the powerhouse teams through offering games at a sold out 10,000-seat arena, I'm sure there will be plenty of experience in the near future. Best of luck with your league play.

So, how does a #3 team split with an unranked team... only drop two places... while the unranked team gains just 5 votes?

Maybe has something to do with the scores?

I just found a link on USCHO about men's hockey coaching statistics. Wayne Wilson is 36th in the Top 100 all-time winning percentage (with minimum 100 or more wins). He is 2 wins away from breaking the top 100 all time winningest coaches list.

My best guess is that the score of the 2nd game had a big part in why the Tigers didn't gain too many more votes. Another part is that the AHA is still not respected much outside of Air Force. Heck, Bobby Mo' split with a ranked Quinnipiac and are rewarded with going from 2 points to 0. Explain that one.

All you have to do is look at North Dakota.....didn't play this weekend but went from 4th to 2nd. They are 0-0-0 this season.

Polls should be done away with and all of the teams put into conferences and divisions like pro sports.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Early season polls are as much about reputation than actual play. The polls don't matter for any selection anyway. What will matter is if Michigan does well the rest of the year. That will be a big boost to the SOS.

RIT will need to consentrate on defense against Penn State based on the shot totals. I know it was against AIC, but still ....

I'm not sure how much you can read into PSUs first series against AIC. Their defense is god awful. This will also be the first time PSU see 11k fans that want to see them embarrassed.

I noticed the same witt RMU getting a split with Quinnipiac and they lose the weeks prior 2 first place votes.
I dont feel whoever voted for them knows anything about hockey. which begs the question
what qualifies the pollster. Its for fun and not to taken seriously.
