Some highlights here; they're not in chronological order, but all five RIT goals are there at some point. Turn off the audio if you don't care to hear Red talk about how much his team must have sucked to lose to RIT.

Thanks for the link.

And wow, after listening to Red's comments, one would think that mighty Michigan lost to a mite team.

Don't know if I would go THAT far, but certainly to an opponent that they should not have lost too.

Yeah, after seeing press conferences with him for many years, I think it was pretty much vintage Red Berenson. Remember also that he had not seen the video yet. That was recorded about 10-15 minutes after the game.

If you two want to give a guy a pass who said that every goal scored against his team was soft, well, more power to ya. But to me it sour grapes.

Let him talk. His team lost and is going to tumble down the rankings.

Any news on how Lynch is doing?

After watching the highlights, it looked like 2 or 3 of RIT's goals could be considered "soft". However, that's a part of the game. Heck, Michigan had at least 1 gimme goal when Cino turned it over right in front of the goal. I'm hoping the players hear about how "soft" their goals were. It should fire them up a bit for tonight's game. I'd really like to see the Tigers put together another good game to prove this win wasn't a fluke.

Just talked to coach about 15 minutes ago. Lynch checked out OK and will be in the lineup tonight.

Who is giving him a pass? It's Red being Red.

To be fair, we hear similar stuff from Coach Wilson after a loss to AIC. =)

They were soft, or "opportunistic". The backhand goal in the slot that tied the game was a good shot, but stoppable. Rutledge was deep in his crease and screened. The first goal, last goal and one of the other goals should have never gone in on a kid that has enough experience playing for the USNDT against D1 teams. Our defensive coverage was horrid. They went in, they all count and certainly RIT didn't stop working, so yes your team should get credit. But a shovel in the crease would have been better than Rutledge on a couple of those goals. If that is insulting your program, then so be it.

Well that's why you play the game. On any given night the soft ones go in or they don't. Our guy (who by the way was starting only his 6th game) could just has given up a bunch of softies too, but he didn't. Maybe you come out tonight and blow us out of the water, maybe you don't. Either way the worst we can do at this point is 2 points, and I'll take that against Michigan.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Goals are goals. I don't think that the Tiger players are gonna get mad about goals being called soft. I think they know that Michigan is going to throw everything at them tonight. How RIT handles that pressure will be interesting.

Well, I guess if you want to be a blind homer then, fine. You're right. I've been around enough coaches, games and seasons to know you're overreacting.

The only thing I didn't really care for was him calling the goals "unearned". I'm sure the Tigers feel they worked **** hard for those goals, and if RIT's were unearned, then what would he call the goal Michigan scored off of Saracino's blunder?

That said, on first view of the highlights package, I would have called 3 of the RIT goals "soft" from a goaltending perspective as well.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

There were more garbage goals than soft goals last night. A soft goal would be a lofted dump in from the neutral zone that's on net and goes in. And I have seen that happen against Minnesota (and words can not describe how pleased happy it made me) But last night it was our guys pickin up the garbage around the net and throwing back or poking it in. But at the end of the night a goal, is a goal. And that's why you play the game. If we got 3 "soft" or "garbage" goals tonight, and they get 2 really pretty goals. I'm still happy. Its all about who has more and not how ya got em.

^^ my 2 cents^^ Can't wait to see how things play out tonight!

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Ed is right, I see it all the time from coaches after a loss. In most cases, they spend 5 seconds giving credit to the other team and the rest of the time taking about their team's failures. It is rare to see a coach, no matter what actually happened in the game, say "We were good but they were better". It's always, "If we played well we would have won and we didn't."

It's a mindset that says that you have the control to win every game, and it is about what your team does and not what the other team does to you. I suppose it comes with the territory and the mental approach one has to have thinking that winning or losing is entirely up to you, but there are two teams out there.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Actaully I am more suprise at how much Red put out in the press on a Freshman goaltender, however I have not seen a lot of his press conferences so I am less sure about his norm. I actually would be more worried about it if I was a Michigan fan. There no doubt you'd like to see better goaltending, but you normally do not see a coach getting that frank esepcially on a Freshman goaltending playing his first NCAAA game. That kind of thing can sink a goaltender and really light a fire under others. Seems odd to me to do when you just getting to know a guy. Red does have a history with having Freshman goaltenders, he seems to always have a guy who will be a 4 year starter so we will see...

I don't think you worry so much about what the other guy is saying, he may be trying to fire up his team, he may be full of it, he may bee an @hole. Unless he pulling a Brandon Phillips and calling you something that sounds like little witches, just let it go out one ear and out the other...
