RIT isn't the little team that could anymore. Michigan will be ready- and if the Tigers win, good on them. :D

I hope this year isn't "the good team that can't"!

I don't think Michigan is going to underestimate RIT and I really don't think they are going to have any trouble with RIT either. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm just feeling realistic today.

I don't think Michigan is going to underestimate RIT and I really don't think they are going to have any trouble with RIT either. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm just feeling realistic today.

These games can go two ways. I am reminded by the Minnesota game 5 years ago where the Gophers took the Tigers lightly and did not get good goaltending. RIT stuck around and eventually won. This was a young RIT team (Ringwald and the other sophs would be the seniors that led the team to Detriot), Murphy. who scored a huge highlight goal in front of his hometown family and friends was just a frosh and the team and played without pressure.

On the other hand, RIT showed nothing against Union and Merrimack last season, and Michigan is a better team than either. But again the Tigers are young and the pressure is off.

And on the third hand, RIT won the Catamount Cup against 2 ranked opponents last year.

Not that I think RIT has a great chance against the Wolverines. I'm sure Michigan didn't schedule RIT because they were a bad team. The one thing that will be interesting is that both teams have a bit of a question mark going into the season with their goaltending. If Watson/Ruby/MacLeon gets hot, who knows.

Hot goalies are good, but we also need to score some freakin goals this year :)

One of those two rank teams RIT beat went to the Frozen Four. I think everyone overlooked how good last years team was, especially considering the injuries they may have even over acheived. I think the big part was not having Tyler Brenner back for his Senior year. It would have been interesting to have a bona fide goal scorer 20 goal scorer on that team...

Looks like there is a streaming option for Thursday nights game not Friday though. Little confused by the site, but I do think you'll have to pay about $10 for it. You will get access for a month to the site, I do not see an option for a one day deal...

So any guesses on whose in net tomorrow? I'm guessing Ruby and Watson will get a game each.

That's what Wayne Wilson told us in the WITR postgame show on Saturday. At that time, he had not decided who would go Thursday.

I'm going to guess Watson. 50/50 odds, but he's the upper classmen and played (statistically) well on Satuday.

I certainly wouldn't put Ruby -- who did not play last week -- in until the skaters have gotten accustomed to the Yost atmosphere and Michigan speed. I say 90% chance of Watson tonight.

Chris, most reasonable M fans respect our opponents- and we appreciate that back- but it's a stretch to think that Michigan is better than anyone right now. Union came in and jail raped them last November in Yost- and has the same nucleus of talent back. Northeastern manhandled them too. The proof will be in the results. The AHA is a solid conference with good teams. The ECAC and HEA teams certainly don't fear the Wolverines, and neither should RIT. Having Merrill out will put a burden on some other unheralded d-men, and will make the PP less potent. It wasn't good for most of the season last year, with or without Merrill. The most important thing about Merrill is, he was a calming influence under pressure and that is something we really need with new goaltending.

Hope they are good games.
