>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Brenner has played 34 ECHL games and has 22 points, so....there's that.

Brenner's with the Marlies at the moment, and in previous seasons is 3-6-9 in 22 games at the AHL level.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

OK, to bring us back to the present and maybe stir up things a bit.

I walked into the arena last night, saw Ruby in net and immediately thought "they have put up the white flag on the season". Perhaps unfair of me, but that is what I thought.

Then I watched the game and it reminded me of DIII-level play (someone said boring and slow, which of course is not a fair characterization of good DIII play) and decided that it did look like the team was giving up on the season.

I left after the second period because I was not enjoying it. That's the second time I've done that this season; something I've never done before in watching RIT hockey since the early '80s. (Maybe I've gotten less patient as well.)

So,let's see what happens tonight. I'll be disappointed to see anything less than a big, strong, statement-type win.

(On the arena discussions, given the home and road records this year, maybe we shouldn't care if it replicates the amazing atmosphere of Ritter.)

Dear RIT Hockey Fan:

It's over.

Sincerely,
Your last hope for a turnaround.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

I went to last night's game thinking I was really going to have fun... as we all did. I realize this season is probably not going to be a memorable one (at least for not for winning), but I thought that an RIT/UCONN match-up would be exciting. Unfortunately, we never got it together and people even started to leave before the game was over (including my son, his girlfriend and their friends). I stuck it out 'til the end and, of course, was really glad to see us score. Anyway, I expect that tonight we'll see a different RIT team... Watson back in goal and our guys fired up. I hope that attendance is not significantly down and fans still show their support!

BTW... any comments about the seat samples for the new rink that were on display last night? I was told that several different types of seats will be used depending on the section of the rink, VIP, GA, etc. I think we need drink holders :)

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

I'm getting the feeling Ruby will be in net again tonight. Wilson didn't give any indication that he was unhappy with his play after last nights game and may see him as his net minder for the rest of the season and beyond.

FYI, there's a survey for the taking about the hockey atmosphere in general and what if any, you'd like to see in the new arena as far as food, beverages and other concessions.

There is no way in heck Wilson has given up on Watson already. There's a reason this was Ruby's first start in almost two months.

I hate to say this but I have never ever seen RIT play well in front of Ruby. I honestly hope he never gets another start, including after Watson graduates. If he's our go-to goalie and isn't putting up back to back shut outs just to make up for how poorly he (and his defense) have played, I have a feeling I'll be watching much less RIT hockey in the next season(s) to come.

Ruby has by far the best pedigree coming into RIT of any of the goaltenders on the team right now and he did steal a few goals last night and only one of the goals was on him. He still had above a 90% save percentage and in my opinion played pretty well, if the defense had played a little bit better that game could have just as easily been a 1-1 tie.

Stats from their last year in the Juniors (regular season) for reference:

Watson - 2.27 GAA, .919 Save percentage - 35 games - OJHL
Ruby - 2.21 GAA, .932 Save percentage - 35 games - BCHL
Maclean - 2.76 GAA, .911 Save percentage - 32 games - NAHL

I am sure the team is just devastated at the possibility of losing you...

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

My goal for the season is just to have as much fun with it as possible. If I detach myself from the standings and the end result, I can still come out having a good time.

I would love, love, love for this team to make a run and end up in the championship, but at this point, I doubt it's in the cards.

Let's just have some fun! #whocareshowmanypoints

I thought Ruby was one of the better Tigers last night. But I don't think many other Tigers had good nights. Whether it was bad bounces or bad passes last night, it seemed like they were doomed not to get a lot of goals. The only thing I can say is that at least they didn't mail it in during the third period like we saw the last time they were down by a couple goals. I thought they tried at least - they just weren't successful.

I'm hoping that this is the season where the hockey gods said - "You've had a great run and have had some good breaks, but now we got to even it out."

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

If RIT has another season like this one, I'm not the only one they'll be losing. We're having trouble filling Ritter now, let along having a 'great game atmosphere'. Double the capacity with these types of performances and RIT games will feel like a ghost town.

Man, you're kind of a dick. You act like you are owed something.

Fact of life: No team is going to be dominate night in, night out, season in, season out, for all eternity. Teams have good years (we've had many) and teams have bad years. Have you been to a game in any other AHA rink? Ritter arena with 1000 fans still far outclasses almost every one of them. But of course, Ritter has been averaging more like 1800 this year. You should appreciate the support this team gets from both the school AND the community, rather than taking this all for granted.

Honestly, by the sounds of it, the program and arena are better off without you.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

At this point we all have the right to be upset with this team.

Sorry if I have high expectations for this team but the fact is RIT built them selves and their fan base up to it. The move to D1, Frozen Four appearance, now a new rink all in a matter of a few years. All promising and very good things. Yet here we are with the worst season since joining the AHA. Everyone around us is getting better and in February we are calling this season done. I really hope I'm wrong and that RIT has a strong finish - I want this team to succeed but there are just so many things wrong.

Yes, we should be happy about the support we get because most of the AHA teams get close to nothing. It still doesn't mean that any of us should not want more or better for our program. Just because I'm being a cynical ******* right now doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan. I still watch every game I can, but **** it if they don't annoy me.

This is the type of season that sorts out the diehards from the feint of heart. RIT has been here before and emerged stronger on the other side. The Tigers are steeped in hockey tradition and aren't disappearing after one difficult season. That is why you see so many of the same faces in the stands year after year. Those fans that fold so quickly only make room for new fans that recognize that the team, the atmosphere, and the tradition are still worth rooting for. So you won't be missed, the Polliseni Center will still be built, people will clamor for their favorite seat, stand in line for tickets, and even sell out games while you take your ball and go home.

Don't worry, you wouldn't see me anyway. I have to stream every game since I'm not lucky enough to live in the area. However, I do plan on being there opening night despite how ****ed I may be at the team right now.

UConn just plays the most God awful boring style of play. Just put everyone in the middle and hack and block everything. Hockey has been boring this weekend.
