Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

The original statement was that the Tigers could get a bench minor for an inapropriate chant by their fans.

Nothing is really clear in the rule book and the worst thing I've seen was that guy a few years back that broke the glass (maybe) at the BCA. No penalty was given to the Tigers there but the fan was ejected from the rink.

At UNH, they throw a squid or fish on the ice after a goal but no penalties are given and the rink crew are quickly there to sweep it up.

I guess it's up to the REF's discretion when a team won't police it's fans.

I've talked to a ref about this. It is their discretion. The original post while not stated(my bad) was about how vicious some of the anti-ref cheers got at BCA. Granted I do know some of the old anti-ref cheers and these might have crossed that line at the very least were toeing it.

Refs have had security sent to certain sections before at the Ritter.

Where is the ref tunnel at Ritter, and has security had to be posted there at period starts/ends? I know a few other arenas that have had "issues" with this.

Also, it is referee discretion even towards anything the band plays. "Three Blind Mice" has been a target (although it's four blind mice in most cases now) and I'm sure a certain Cee Lo Green song will be next.

are any of the reserved seat sections generally used for opposition fans?

Former Tiger Jared DeMichiel is back at RIT - as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's hockey team. http://ritathletics.com/news/2011/11/2/MHOCKEY_1102110543.aspx

I'm surprised he's hung up his skates. And that he didn't stick with an ECHL team; Zapolski is on Chicago's roster and Jared's gotta be better than him.

They come out from sections of more reserved fans.

Opposition fans can buy reserved section seating but nothing is reserved for them. They're just generally given behind the bench.

He probably got tired of all the moving around he had to do with all the trading he was getting and whatnot.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

He was originally slated to be on Kalamazoo(the Nucks ECHL team) then the Devils came into Kalamazoo as Split affiliation. Devils likely wanted Maxime Clermont there to get work after leaving the Q.

I went to a Chicago Express (Columbus) game vs South Carolina (washington) a two weeks ago, and Jared was dressed as backup for Chicago to my surprise. Looking at the Stats, he didnt play at all during his time there. And Zapolski is on the K-Wings for now, so maybe they were traded for each other. Either way, I dont see Zapolski playing over Riley Gill or Clermont, not sure Jared would either.
Clermont was just brought up to Albany when Brodeur went down and played well, so that likely why Zapolski is/was in Kalamazoo.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

If this team starts to play well once Shane comes back I'm going to be furious. For as long as I've been watching this team has suffered from Backup Goalie Syndrome. That is where the team as a whole is lackluster when the non-starting goalie is playing. I know it happened when DeMike backed up Louie and when Louie backed up Guimond. If the team can come out swinging against Army then this team will stay in good standing with me otherwise I will be a very unhappy fan the rest of the season, regardless of what they do.

50 shots on net isn't coming out swinging? They got that at Mercyhurst. I just think it's a bad scoring funk the likes of which have not been seen at RIT before.

Not to mention about 20-25 blocked shots (because Mercyhurst was packing it in around the net) and those that went wide. RIT easily had 90 or so scoring attempts in the game. Not that attempts get you anything. But they were shooting often and shooting hard. Komey is right -- they did come out swinging in that game.

Maybe I miss worded that. I knew what I meant it just didn't translate.

Ed, so I can better word my response I was hoping you could answer me a question. Now I'm assuming you were calling the game, were the RIT shots cupcakes or did they make the goalie work for them. If you can't answer that maybe Lerch could.

Canisius did the same thing to RIT, just packed it in and counter punch. I really see much of the problem on the back end. Starting with break out passes from the defensemen and then getting shots on net. Forwards though seem to be gripping the sticks a little too tightly, just not finishing chances. I think RIT is just learning you can not turn it off and turn it on at will. This all started with a unacceptable effort at Canisius and now it seem to become a mental thing that is going take a heck of a game to break out of. I think someone is going to get lite up by RIT when they finally get there heads out of thier..........................................

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

The problem was compounded by that they did not have an easy game after Canisius to shake off the game. Instead, they had a Union team that was not happy with their own effort. I wonder if there is a little lack of confidence now becuase they had a hard time scoring.

But I think Tom is right - once they start going, someone is going to pay.

They were not cupcakes. Their goalie had to work. Their defense did a good job clearing rebounds.

Ok so they ran into bad luck, I was wrong. I figured they were just dong the RIT and shooting into the body which I've become accustomed to seeing from RIT teams.

Any thoughts on the goalies this weekend? I'm thinking Watson Friday and Ruby Saturday unless Watson does REALLY well.

This is probably accurate. Even if Watson plays great I still think they split starts.

Nice little writeup in the paper about this weekends games. It seems like RIT will get previews of the home games at least now. While it's not a must win, with the league as a whole a little better than it was last year, RIT does not want to fall too far behind in the standings.

Yep, and Wilson is quoted as saying Watson starts tonight, with tomorrow undecided.

Pinozzotto's name was in The Hockey News as one of the top 5 or 10 highest paid AHL players at $275k this week. Nothing written about him, just a small blurb with his name under guys like Chris Minard, Alex giroux and so on. Mostly career AHLer's. Hope Steve does crack the Nucks lineup.
