...We suck... at least for now.

You must not have been to the same game I went to. We dominated play for 45 of the 60 minutes in regulation, and 4 of the 5 in OT. We put up a huge number of shots, and not weak ones either. We had several near misses and two posts that would have been goals. We also came within inches of the game winner, shorthanded, in OT.

If we'd had one extra bounce go our way, we walk out with a win.

No we SUCK,
We gave up a two goal lead to a 0-3 eastern pod team and If they had one extra bounce go there way, they walk out with a win.
We need goals not shots. Lets hope the puck starts bouncing our way soon.

Goals, not shots... I agree.
There's always a year here or there where you notice a trend of the fans saying stuff like:
"We dominated the game for x minutes, but ran into a hot goalie"
"We outplayed them most of the time, just didn't get the bounces"
"If we hadn't have hit the post three times..."

When these quotes are uttered repeatedly as opposed to only a couple times per season, there is more to it than the opponent, the bounces, or "puck-luck". Let's just hope the trend stops now for the Tigers.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Yeah, I agree, bad luck is becoming a bit of a crutch. Good teams create the luck, and good teams don't cough up two goal leads in the third period at home. Luckily, it's early, and this team has plenty of time to find itself. But, it's a tough result that makes tomorrow pretty critical.

Also, it's interesting to note the long-standing regular season home sellout string came to an end. Unfortunately, I think a lot of folks assume games are sold out by game day. They posted 300 seats remained earlier in the day, so they must had had around 50 walk ups. Perhaps they needed to get that message out earlier today.

I think the concert bit into it more than a little bit...

If we suck - what does that make Army? They were hanging on for dear life for 55 of the 65 minutes last night. Seriously - that is one of the worst teams to enter the Ritter in quite a while.

Ha, 2-2. That is all that matters. You can put as many crappy shots on the net as you can. That doesn't crap unless they go in. RIT had many chances. The team sucks at aiming, I mean they are god awful. They couldn't hit the net if it was empty yesterday. Everything they shoot goes wide or sky high.

I hope this is just in there heads, a coach can't teach a finishing, it comes from the heart. You can either finish or you can't. Right now we just can't.

Nobody who knows anything about hockey would say that Army's play last night is anywhere near a complete game. There aren't more than a couple of bottom tier teams in DI that would aspire to play Army's game last night, while a majority of teams would kill to dominate in time of possession and time on attack like the Tigers did. RIT has one or two things to figure out, while Army has virtually nothing to be happy about.

It feels to me like RIT can't get proper spacing and positioning. The forwards aren't gelling. Defensively, I think RIT is doing as well as can be expected for the most part. You almost wonder if they played not to lose that third period after Army got that goal.

Hard to say, but Army definitely played better in the third, much like we did against Union. We also struggled with the puck control in that period, while the first two periods were among the best I've ever seen in that respect.

Hard to fathom coming out so flat in the 3rd period after working so hard for their 2-0 lead. And yes, their finishing is awful. At least the freshmen stepped up and picked up some points.

The penalties helped turn momemtum for Army. Hopefully, that will be corrected.

Huh? Not at all. RIT simply came out flat in the 3rd period. They didn't take a single penalty from the start of the 3rd period until after Army tied the score over ten minutes into the 3rd. In fact, Army took the only penalty between their goals. RIT couldn't use it to take the momentum back. They were simply flat and not ready for Army's increased intensity in the 3rd period, which is not good for a team that still hasn't won a game in conference.

Not to mention that RIT had taken penalties in the first two periods which they dominated - they simply killed them off (as they did the two penalties in the 3rd/OT) and went back to dominating. Penalties didn't play any role at all in changing the momentum of this game.

Well we're finding the back of the net, but letting in far too many. If Madolora doesn't come out big next week, AFA is going to roll over us.

One thing at a time. I have a hard time saying Madolora would have made much difference tonight. I think last night he might have stopped one of the goals, but tonight I'm not sure.

It will be interesting to see how much rust Madolora will have.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

As disappointing as it was to give up the lead on Friday and see an opposing hattrick on home ice last night, it was great to see the team come back and pull out the win. I think it showed heart and maybe we are finally some chemistry on the lines. The Garbowsky/McGowan/McReynolds line I thought really looked sharp at times. Knowles really impressed me with his physical play despite his limited ice time.

I thought Ruby and Watson both played well and I doubt we would have ended up with 4 instead of 3 points with Madalora in net.

Can someone explain to me how Ellis still has a job? Maybe I am just a homer fan but I have never seen him officiate a good game. That could probably be said for a lot of the refs in the AHA but Ellis just really seems to exceed at "the suck"

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

At 0-2-2 in Atlantic Hockey, down 3-1, and on the PK, was there a more deflating moment in this young season? The building was quiet, and it would take a great individual effort to turn momentum around. It may turn out that we'll look back at that moment, and realize that the shortie was such a key to the rest of the season. With Madolora coming back there is a glimmer of optomism, and renewed confidence because of the perception that he gives them a better chance to win. The players probably believe it, and that makes it true. AF and Holy Cross are tough, but I think both play a different style that suits RIT better, rather than that Army/UConn pack-it-in nonsense. I think it interesting that in general this weekend the team with fewer shots scored more goals. In the 3rd period last night Army outshot by 16-9, but wound up losing. Perhaps there is something to the idea that more shots is not necessarily better. Quality over quantity?

Finding good referees in the AHA is tough. This is due, in part, to how much the AHA pays. The other problem is that there are not enough refs to go around. The SUNYAC just went to a 2 ref-2 linesman system and those coachs are complaining as well.
