I'm not sure... but I feel like a Burt + Potts + (knowles, lynch or colavechia?) line would be deadly... I don't believe they are on the same line tho?

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I'm not sure... but I feel like a Burt + Potts + (knowles, lynch or colavechia?) line would be deadly... I don't believe they are on the same line tho?

I have only seen home games so if different line combos have been used on the road I didn't see them. So far these are lines I have recalled seeing:

Starting line (inferring as first line)
Mitchell - Burt - Knowles (McGowan I think played in this slot for the Union game?)

2nd line
Colavecchia - Lynch - Hartley

3rd line
McReynolds - Garbowsky - Potts

4th line
Reid - Thompson - Cornacchia

Now if you look at the the seniors in the line up (excluding Burt), McReynolds, Knowles, and Cornacchia have all been role type players their entire tenure at RIT. McReynolds was always billed as a defensive/tough forward and has lived up to that. The other two never quite blossomed into more offensive type players they looked to be based on their junior stats. They are more filling the roles of Matic and Alexin. From the play this year I don't see that changing

For the juniors only Hartley has gotten regular playing time that I recall, though I thought I heard he was playing through a injury. I always liked Potts game and was surprised he wasn't used more as an under class men, maybe the line up was too tight to get him into the game. I was thinking he was one of the guys that might break out this year. Smith has been out hurt I believe

A lot of the sophomores (Lynch, Colavecchia, Mitchell) have shown some offensive talent though maybe the lack of experience has limited them from becoming that "go to" type player.

I'm liking the skating ability out of a lot of the freshmen though I think experience/limited ice time is holding them back right now

I'm not sure where I am going with all this other than making excuses for the lack of finish :) I'm sure the team is starting to get on themselves about it too and might be psyching themselves out. If I were to play Monday morning quarterback I might put together a line of Burt/Lynch/Potts. Burt can carry the mail, Lynch has great speed, and Potts I think can finish. I wold probably put Knowles down on the 3rd line and keep moving a underclassmen up to the other top line and see if some chemistry can be found.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I think the phrase "connected with a team" refers to those who are in an official capacity, like trainers or equipment managers. The rule book refers to spectators when talking about the fans. It mentions that people can and should be removed from the arena if they are abusive. But the only mention I can find of spectators causing a bench minor is this (and since it includes the band with spectators, I'd think a cheering section would be considered as such):

Interference by Spectators

SECTION 30. a. In the event that objects that interfere with the progress of the game are thrown onto the ice, the official shall blow the whistle and stop the play; and the puck shall be faced off at the spot where play is stopped.

Fans are not permitted to throw objects on the ice. At the discretion of the referee, a warning may be issued before the game.

b. Spectators are not permitted to use artificial noisemakers, air horns or electronic amplifiers while the game is in progress.

c. The band(s) shall not be allowed to play while the game is in progress.

PENALTIES—a. through c.—Warning or bench minor against offending fans’ team for delay of game.

It is the referee’s discretion, depending on the severity of the action, whether or not a warning is necessary.

Note: Conferences or the proper disciplinary authority are encouraged to develop policies in this area if necessary.

I agree with your analysis. I've heard some pretty vicious cheers w/o any response from the on-ice officials. The college's administration -- that's another story.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Lines (based on collegehockeystats.net
@ Mercyhurst
Lynch-Hartley-Potts
McGowan-Burt-Mitchell
McReynolds-Garbowsky-Colaveccia
Knowles-Cornacchia-Reid-Thompson

The last couple games...
McGowan-Burt-Mitchell
Lynch-Hartley-Colaveccia
McReynolds-Garbowsky-Potts
Knowles-Cornacchia-Reid-Thompson

These guys are too talented to keep being off the scoresheet.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I know wayne knows better... but this is what I would do:

Lynch - Burt - Potts (Burt and Potts are scorers and they combined for a lot of the points at the homecoming game... and when they scored it seemed they were on the ice together. Lynch fits with them because he's a quick guy who can dish a good assist where needed and grab the puck to give it to potts and burt. Overall this is a relatively quick line)
McReynolds - Hartley - Mitchell (This is a heavy line. All of these guys are 195+. They are together because these guys rarely back down and will push the puck hard.)
McGowan - Garbowsky - Thompson (Let's see the freshman all together... More want to see this than anything else. They're all quick and were prolific scorers... honestly when I saw them as recruits, I immediately thought this would be a great line)
Knowles-Cornacchia-Reid-Colavecchia (The leftovers.... They're all unique and relatively good)

Smith is not included because of injuries... would probably still fit in with that last line. I feel like the other line's are extremely solid.

I agree with this. Except maybe mix'n'match the last 2 lines. Not enough experience with the 3rd being all Freshies IMO.

I like McReynolds and Garbowsky together, if they had a scorer with them that could potentially be a surprisingly scary line. I kinda think Lynch would fit well with them.

I believe that is supposed to be potts, and it hasn't worked.

I'm sure that either of the rules and Ed and I posted really fit now. I've gone through the entire rule book and searched for Spectators and it only shows this rule and one other.

Wonder if it falls under sportsmanship somehow. Anybody know a ref we could ask?

Refs have had security sent to certain sections before at the Ritter.

Tigers pick up another recruit for 2012-2013:

F - Josh Mitchell, Osoyoos, B.C - 3/21/1991 - 5'11" 170lbs - Alberni Valley BCHL

SEASON TEAM GP G A PTS P/G PPG SHG PIM
2011 - 2012 Alberni Valley Bulldogs 13 2 10 12 0.9 1 0 10
2010 - 2011 Alberni Valley Bulldogs 58 17 45 62 1.1 5 2 34
2009 - 2010 Alberni Valley Bulldogs 56 3 15 18 0.3 0 0 12
2008 - 2009 Salmon Arm Silverbacks 3 0 0 0 0.0 0 0 0
CAREER TOTALS 130 22 70 92 0.7 6 2 56

This brings the Tigers recruiting for next season up to 4 players

F Josh Mitchell - Alberni Valley - BCHL
F Dan Schuler - Powell River - BCHL
F Woody Hudson - Indiana - USHL
D Rajan Sidhu - Drumheller - AJHL

Sidhu was traded from Trail of the BCHL to the AJHL last month (10/20) but has not played and has not been added to the Drumheller roster. Makes me wonder if given the Tigers current shortage of D-men he might show on the roster for the 2nd half of the year?

Not all younger brothers want to follow someone else's path. Could it be that Providence offered a program of study he preferred, or was a scholarship the issue?

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I believe that is supposed to be potts, and it hasn't worked.

It could be that Potts isn't gelling with the other 2, since McReynolds and Garbowsky seem to work well so far.

If this team starts to play well once Shane comes back I'm going to be furious. For as long as I've been watching this team has suffered from Backup Goalie Syndrome. That is where the team as a whole is lackluster when the non-starting goalie is playing. I know it happened when DeMike backed up Louie and when Louie backed up Guimond. If the team can come out swinging against Army then this team will stay in good standing with me otherwise I will be a very unhappy fan the rest of the season, regardless of what they do.

Well, if that is the case, he had better hurry and enroll for Winter Quarter (begins Nov-28). If he doesn't do so in time, he won't be able to enroll again until March.

The drumheller website seems to indicate that they don't expect him to show... in their week 7 recap they say: "James D'Andrea was dealt to Trail in B.C. in exchange for 20-year-old defenceman Rajan Sidhu, a 3-year Junior "A" veteran. (The scuttlebutt around the rink was that Sidhu likely won't report to the valley, so another deal may be imminent.)"

For those that aren't in the know this weekend is a hockeygasm weekend. The men are home against Army Fri. and Sat. night while the women are home against Utica Sat. and Sun. afternoon. Can't get much better than a four game weekend at the Ritter.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Refs have had security sent to certain sections before at the Ritter.

The original statement was that the Tigers could get a bench minor for an inapropriate chant by their fans.

Nothing is really clear in the rule book and the worst thing I've seen was that guy a few years back that broke the glass (maybe) at the BCA. No penalty was given to the Tigers there but the fan was ejected from the rink.

At UNH, they throw a squid or fish on the ice after a goal but no penalties are given and the rink crew are quickly there to sweep it up.

I guess it's up to the REF's discretion when a team won't police it's fans.
