Well, at least we put up 50 shots. That's a pretty big improvement. And Ruby also did a lot better. Hard to believe that we let their goalie make 49/50 shots....I don't even understand.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

It's difficult to understand how a team that put up 6 on St. Lawrence can be so bad in the other four games. We have pulled our goalie three times in five games. We have a total of two goals in three conference games (both by Descoteaux, a defenseman). At some point you have to wonder what's going on.

St. Lawrence really sucks, at least so far.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

This team just has too much going on in their heads right now. I peak in on B2 from game 7 when I called and I saw a lot of miss shots from in close, not letting pucks go soon enough. Just a mess right now, my fear is that I am not sure about the leadership of this team can get them out of this mess. Don't get me wrong, I like the men wearing the Cs, but just no sure if they have enough fire. Going to be one of Wanye's tougher jobs...

They have to find something with Shane serving two more game, geez NCAA never stop proving what idiots they are and that about as nice as I can put it...

No, an improvement would be scoring more than a goal every other game. Shots mean nothing if you can't put the puck in the back of the net.

What is this that you speak of?

I thought last night was the final game he would have to sit out. I've looked but haven't found anything about an extended suspension but then again, Lycos sometimes doesn't show everything.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

We broadcast this information during last night's WITR pre-game show, discussed it during the game, and interviewed Wayne Wilson about it after the game. Apparently other media outlets haven't picked it up yet. The original NCAA investigator recommended three games, but the final decision from the NCAA was five games.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

It's just unfortunate that the person that the CC follows is the one that will probably get RIT a bench minor for a cheer he starts.

Seriously? I''ve never heard of a bench penalty for a cheer. The only crowd-caused bench penalties I've ever seen or heard of involved physical actions such as throwing things on the ice (delay of game) or at players or actually assaulting players. Do you have an example of a bench penalty for just a cheer?

Thanks Ed, I was out last night and missed listening to the game.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I don't have an example but I think it would fall under this rule:

f. A coach or other non-playing person connected with a team shall not
use foul or abusive language; obscene gestures; threatening language
or gestures; or other unsportsmanlike conduct to an official or opposing
player, or otherwise try to influence or intimidate an official or opposing
player either before or during a game.
PENALTY—Bench minor. For further violation, with the exception of
medical personnel, a game misconduct shall be assessed.
Medical personnel are subject to supplementary discipline
penalties.

I think the phrase "connected with a team" refers to those who are in an official capacity, like trainers or equipment managers. The rule book refers to spectators when talking about the fans. It mentions that people can and should be removed from the arena if they are abusive. But the only mention I can find of spectators causing a bench minor is this (and since it includes the band with spectators, I'd think a cheering section would be considered as such):

Interference by Spectators

SECTION 30. a. In the event that objects that interfere with the progress of the game are thrown onto the ice, the official shall blow the whistle and stop the play; and the puck shall be faced off at the spot where play is stopped.

Fans are not permitted to throw objects on the ice. At the discretion of the referee, a warning may be issued before the game.

b. Spectators are not permitted to use artificial noisemakers, air horns or electronic amplifiers while the game is in progress.

c. The band(s) shall not be allowed to play while the game is in progress.

PENALTIES—a. through c.—Warning or bench minor against offending fans’ team for delay of game.

It is the referee’s discretion, depending on the severity of the action, whether or not a warning is necessary.

Note: Conferences or the proper disciplinary authority are encouraged to develop policies in this area if necessary.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

It's all about attitude, right? With that in mind I'm changing my thinking on this early season. I listened to Coach Wilson last night after the game. He spoke at length, and I found his demeanor to be much calmer than just a couple of games ago. He explained the Shane-situation a little bit, and that was helpful. Let's take the positive from the Mercyhurst game, get our #1 player back on the ice between the pipes, and welcome those injured guys back sometime in November. We're not throwing away any games along the way, but when the time comes we'll mentally start a new season. How else can we reasonably play this? History is rife with examples of teams playing "two seasons", and sometime soon these kids will put the puck in the net six or seven times, and we'll all wonder what the heck we were thinking. I, for one, am curtailing any complaining and starting to look for those "little victories". BTW, have we found the perfect "big body" to put in front of the net? He's not Charra, but who is? :)

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I really think that if they get a goal early in a game, they are going to bust out. Getting shots (aside from the Union game) has not been a problem. They may not be quality shots, but at least they are putting the puck on net. What started out as the best start in 8 years (1-0-1) has turned into another slow start to the season.

And it's not like Coach can take some players and sit them - they don't have enough healthy bodies for that. They are going to HAVE to find a way to work through this.

Mercyhurst beat Cornell on Saturday night, which admittedly takes some of the edge off our 2-1 defeat at their hands. Maybe there is something more to the Lakers than we all expected.

On the other hand, AIC scored 2 more goals than we did against Union, AT Union, and allowed the same number (5) in return.

Nope....there is nothing to see here....just move along....that's it, keep moving.

I wasn't impressed with Mercyhurst last night at Cornell. They had good goaltending and were tenacious but other than that were outplayed for vast stretched by Cornell. If it wasn't for very weak goaltending by Iles then Cornell should have won. But I will give it to Mercyhurst they kept fighting and never gave up.

How did Mercyhurst play on Friday?

Union probably also took RIT WAAAAY more seriously than AIC.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Curiosity peaked, which one?

all of them:
anal - come from behind
orgy - team work
bra - support your team
viagara - keep it up
virgin - we need to score

Here's the thing though Loki the CC are sheep right now. If someone they feel is a leader starts something then they will go with it, hence R-I-T being chanted after every opposing goal, that has gotten really old and stale. It's just unfortunate that the person that the CC follows is the one that will probably get RIT a bench minor for a cheer he starts.

I totally agree they are sheep. But I think most of them know when something crosses the line. I'm really glad racist cheer when burt gets a penalty is gone.

Hey all, I am unable to make Friday Night's game, going to be watching it from home in Buffalo, not enough time to get to game from work. So I am looking to give my tickets away, 2 of them for this friday night's game vs. Army. If interested then just E-Mail me WNYMule@roadrunner.com. Try to get to me by Weds, cause unless your in Buffalo I'd probably have to mail them to Rochester...

From what I heard on the radio, it sounded similar to what you describe on Saturday. RIT dominated time of possession and scoring chances but ended up on the wrong side of the all-important 'putting pucks in the net' metric.

I think that's the major issue right now. RIT has no finishers. They do not have a Go-To or #1 line. It's pretty routine in college sports to wonder from year to year how team X is going to replace departing leading scorers, defensemen, goaltenders, etc. We all wondered how they would ever replace Lambert / Smith, Guimond / Menard, Ringwald / Tanev, DeMichiel, and Brenner / Favot. Unfortunately, IMHO, they did not replace Ringwald / Tanev last season, and suffered defensively at times. So far this season, it is Brenner / Favot that have not been replaced and they are obviously suffering big time. Sometimes it takes time for new on ice leaders to step forward, but with so many AHA contests so early in the season, the Tigers can not afford to wait very long for that to happen. Cameron stepped up big time in one game (against a flailing Saints team), but has not maintained that level at all. Just the fact that the only two goals scored in conference games have been scored by a defenseman is statement enough. 50 shots are wonderful, but don't matter worth a d*** if only one goes in.
