Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Most of our rink is general admission, except for a small section which is reserved seating. Although we don't usually get much in the way of visiting fans (I think mainly because of our conference) they do reserve several rows behind the visitors bench (which at Ritter is along the east side of the building, RIT sits opposite on the west side) for fans of the away team, these are General Admission seats. I am not sure if you need to be associated with the team in any official capacity to sit there, or just talk to the security guard.

Since the game is right after Thanksgiving, it is unlikely to sell out, but either way, provided you get there early enough on game night (doors open at 5:45) you should be fine with General Admission tickets, which can be purchased via the Gordon Fieldhouse Box Office at 585-475-4121.

Thank you. I haven't been out to the Henrietta area since going to Arena 51 a few years back; even though it'll be a quick trip for me, any good pre-gaming locations you guys recommend (and hopefully they'll be open)?

Well, just a few miles down Jefferson Road to the East of Campus they just opened a new Sticky Lips BBQ location, haven't tried the new place yet, but the one in the city is top notch http://stickylipsbbq.com/stickylips/main.html.

Hopefully we get a good crowd on campus for the game, the "day after holiday" games are always tough since our students are obviously off campus. We start class up again the following Monday, and the week leading up to the game is our break week from the fall quarter, so I am hoping more students will come back early to get a jump on preparing for class on Monday. It seems like every year some of our best OOC games are right after Thanksgiving and New Years.

You must not remember the days when the D&C's attention to RIT was practically nil. This displays RIT right up there with the Amerks and Sabres, a great accomplishment compared to even five years ago.

Not only that, but the RIT women got a whole page too (though no roster photos).

Apologies if this is old news....

From Atlantic Hockey's site:

"Penn State is coming to Rochester to play RIT early in its first season of intercollegiate hockey next fall and Michigan will be in early in the season after that. Both games will be played in the Blue Cross Arena."

Props to RIT for good scheduling.

Michigan traveling for a non-conference game?! It must be the end of the world... :p

Does anyone have any thoughts on Saint Lawrence for Saturday? I haven't followed them much since we had that trip out there in the beginning of '09 but it seems like they have had a few tough seasons, notably 09-10.

RIT played awful on that trip, but I suppose I can let it slide based on how they ended their season.

On a side note, I actually went out there to see them play SLU and Clarkson and had a great experience at both rinks (although vastly different from one another.) I can't help but dream of one day being part of the History and Tradition that the ECAC schools have.

I think the games, and the associated travel, SLU has this week will be a factor to watch for. 2 home games last weekend, going out to Michigan Thursday, then Rochester on Saturday. Other than that I am hoping the injuries RIT suffered against Niagara on defense are not long term in nature, and everyone is back in the lineup for the game on Saturday. If RIT stays out of the box, and gets the goal tending they expect from Madalora, I think it should be close with RIT edging SLU out to get finally win one of these homecoming games.

If SLU can weather what will be a burst of energy by RIT, generated by the huge hometown crowd, and get a quick early goal it might tip the game the other way

(enough hockey cliches for you?) :)

Read today's ECAC column; they lost two to Ferris last weekend and took a lot of penalties doing it. Their head coach is off the bench to tend to his health. And they're in Michigan today. They're certainly ripe for the picking; if we play to our potential, we should win.

St. Lawrence was one of the first D1 hockey teams RIT played when they went from DIII to DI. This was the game that Guimond made 66 saves on 68 shots. Despite mustering only 15 SOG, RIT beat St. Lawrence 3-2. I remember being stunned at how fast St. Lawrence was relative to RIT; we sure have come a long way. This year, I predict RIT gets the W in front of 10,500+ fans at Blue Cross.

One further prediction: I expect that RIT will sell out the rest of their home games this season, even those around holidays.

When you look at the pick'em for ECAC, it's running at least 50/50 for RIT in the SLU game. Considering that may fans can tend to overrate their conference teams, it's pretty impressive.

Meanwhile, Lerch seems to think the Tigers are stuck in the pre-2010 days of bad performances at BCA. I thought we got that monkey off our backs.

Michigan over St Lawrence 10-3 last night. SOG where 34-32 Michigan.

SLU needs a win BAD..... I suspect that they'll come out with fire in their eyes on Saturday night. Should be an interesting game. Tigers need to score early and not even let them think they have a chance.

Looks like the game is officially sold out now!

Oh can't believe anything that guy says :-D

Really impressive accomplishment to sell it out two years in a row. Remember being amazed at the arena being all most half full for when RIT and Cornell played there. Just again shows how far this program has come in a short time and how wrong those who came out and said it was a bad move to go D-I were. You think Remy still reads our threads??? :D

SLU has also given up at least 4 goals in all of their games this year, including the blowout last night. Given RIT's typically high shot and goal count, I think that there is a lot of potential. They might have some fire, but it's an out of conference game and they are on a skid. RIT meanwhile is off to a fairly strong start and will be playing infront of 10,500 fans. I think they will have more fire.

Plus SLU has been traveling a lot recently, which I imagine has a negative impact as well. I don't think SLU stands a chance. The Tigers are well-rested, have amazing goal-tending, and a lot of developing offensive talent.
