If they want it by Global Village then finish tearing out Riverknoll and put it there.

And that's something that should've been done YEARS ago...

That place should have been torn down way back when I was an undergrad (suffice to say it was a long time ago :))

I guess that shows how freakin' old I am. I was an undergrad when Riverknoll was new and the best place to live on campus:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

They're definitely going to have to do something about the parking as far as replacing S-Lot for during the day and for having enough for the arena itself. What appears to be left of the lot in front of the arena doesn't look to be even enough for the Corner Crew, let alone the rest of the crowd. Unlike the current arena location and D-Lot, there aren't a plethora of other lots nearby for overflow. U lot is kind of close, but that's it, really.

Riverknoll, why don't they make that into a big parking lot.

Don't go dating yorself now. People might actually be able to tell how old you are.

Yeah, RIT still uses Racquet Club. Had a couple friends who lived there.

The Racquet Club "high-rise" is still there and in use, but the old town houses are long gone (River's Run is there now). And, I agree, the rest of Riverknoll should be gone as well. It was bad in the 1980s!

Back to hockey; the story I've been told is that the two temporary buildings over by R lot will be removed to make more parking. (That's the part over to the right in the conceptual aerial image that is labeled "parking". Next to Ross.) In addition the grass area south of S lot and north of the road will be made into parking. It is a surprisingly large area if you check it out on Google maps. The combination of the two is supposed to result in no net change in parking spots in the S lot area. There has been serious discussion of a parking garage, but I don't know where that stands on the priority list right now. I don't think it is imminent.

Also, the location is definitely to avoid traffic conflicts when there are events in the arena and field house at the same time. That seems like the way to go to me. That's on top of having near all the goodies of Global Village. I have also heard that there is some expectation of people parking on the north side of campus and being able to walk through Golisano to Global Village and the arena. That also seems like a reasonable way to go.

All-in-all I think it is being well planned out at this point. It just seems to me that the plans and hype are getting ahead of the actual dollars in hand. I hope the fundraising can be pulled off.

Wow, sounds like he is way ahead of schedule. Wonder how long before we see him active.

I haven't heard anything about final architectural work being underway, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't. There are some additional conceptual drawings on the website at http://www.rit.edu/development/giving/powerplay/conceptrenderings.php

From what I've heard it will be NHL ice size (200x85), seats for about 4000, bleachers for the corner, and a concourse with standing room (so that should be several hundred), and some room for expansion of the seats.

Also, I believe the plan is to spell "Center" correctly! ;)

Parlez vous français? You don't like my French spelling eh? haha

Any word on anything official? I would assume if they want to break ground in the fall things are going to have to start being concrete.

I hope the Arena seats 4,500 with around 500 being corner crew bleachers plus about 1,000 standing room. Now that would be ideal for a growing program. You have to figure, the Ritter has turned away some many Rochestarians that once this thing is built there will not be a deterrent.

The only reason RIT doesn't sell out every-single game is when RIT students are on break, the average Rochestarian doesn't know that so they still stay at home.

Around 5-years-ago this time of year we lost a big RIT fan, his username was Mikita. He was honored in a game in '07 for being a big part of the RIT family but for the life of me I can't remember his name. Can anyone help me?

Good start to the weekend for the Tigers, and we haven't even played yet.

AIC beat Mercyhurst and Bentley pulled off a tie against Air Force. Given that I think everyone expects us to get 4 points this weekend, we could make a lot of ground.

We still have to play our games. The team can't afford to get complacent against Sacred Heart. It would help to score early and often to take the fight out of the Pioneers.
