Just back from game, tigers controlled second, and handled the 5v5 very well. Bucky was noticeably better in the transition game, but again, a bad penalty did them in.

And my guess is smith will be out a while. He couldn't stand after the board.

Happy with the outcome, tigers kept pace and played a smart game. Just couldn't generate too much interior pressure. Most shots were from outside.

So I guess Wisconsin is the Canucks of college hockey. Unlikable fans and a very unlikable and entitled team. I suppose the only difference is the Wisconsin has won something when the Canucks have won nothing.

It seems to me the Wisconsin fans had nothing to say about RIT until an RIT fan went in their thread and called them classless.

Which was exactly what they were. Calling a spade a spade. I have nothing but disdain for the Wisconsin program, to be blunt. Both the frozen four game and friday night's game saw that team flopping all over the ice and acting tough once they were on top of RIT players and raining punches down. Garbage program (integrity wise). I will be rooting for everyone BUT Wisconsin in the WCHA from now on, I can tell you that.

Also, INSANELY good weekend in AHA play for RIT. Air Force took 1 out of 4 points, Niagara got swept at UConn, RoMo took 1 out of 4 at Bentley. The conference title is still very much up for grabs, and in that context, RIT playing hard and playing even with Wisconsin at even strength but losing could even be a positive going back into Atlantic Hockey play. They're definitely a different team than they were early in the season, and hopefully they can continue to play at this level and take a run at the #1 seed for the AHA playoffs.

I wouldn't go that route, I make my way to Madison pretty often, and at least the folks I associate with are pretty knowledgable and fair. Yes, they can often times be arrogant, but think about it, with success comes arrogance. RIT has had that frOm the DIII days also, and somewhat true for the program and the AHA.

The Internet is a way to never back your words, and you can say what you want with virtually no ramifications. As we know you can't judge a fanbase by the random D-bags on a forum.

For any of you who have been to games in Madison, it's no different for RIT as opposed to the WCHA opponents.

I had no problems. Last night neither team played up to it's potential, but itwas an entertaining game. Upset we had a chance and wasted it on a stupid board that was unnecessary.

Congrats from a Gate fan. Very impressed with your play this weekend. Two shots from Wisco in the second period. I think you're in for a great finish !

I understand what you are saying. A few people on a message board is no way to judge an entire fan base. I did meet some pretty insufferable Wisco fans at the Frozen Four after some of them bought the championship game ticket from RIT students, but again a few bad seeds in no way to judge a fanbase. All in all every fanbase has its jerks and most of the time they are in the minority. RIT played two pretty good games and coupled with the the two wins in Vermont, they should be ready to go on a roll for the rest of AHA season and continue the streak of never playing an AHA playoff game outside of Rochester.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

If RIT plays like they did the last 4 games, it's going to be very tough for an AHA team to beat the Tigers. If there is still one weakness, it's still the power play. They had their chances in the second game and could have got more than 1 goal. I think the penalty kill - which hurt the Tigers against Wisconsin, it's that bad. They have done well in conference - only 11% conversion rate for opponants.

I wouldnt say the penalty kill is bad, moreso the stupid penalties they are taking. The pp was okay against the badgers, the third period last night they should have had one, but UW was blocking everything.

Sorry for misspells from phone. Was too lazy to fix after I noticed.

Given what our PK did in Vermont, I'm inclined to say it is definitely not bad.

But there comes a time when a team takes so many penalties (this has been a problem for us in past seasons) it's going to make the PK look bad eventually.

I think I meant to so that the PK is NOT that bad - especially when I note that they have done well in conference killing penalties.

It didn't get called because it wasn't a penalty.

Looked like contact to the head to me. Whipped Scotty's head right around and sent him spinning to the ice.

I didn't think the hit Knowles laid on afterwards was bad either. Shoulder on shoulder. I'm not particularly sure why it got Wisco worked up.

'Cause he went after the wrong guy.

The only two guys on the Bruins I could really see people disliking at Lucic and Marchand, who are really guys you only like if they are on your team. Is there anyone else on the Bruins who is really unlikable?

Chara.

And yeah, I'm among those who started rooting for the Canucks because we had a shot for a former Tiger to get his name on the Cup.

I suppose I could see how people wouldn't like Chara but I think a lot of that comes from him not get suspended for the hit on Pacioretty, but that wasn't up to him. I am happy the Canucks gave Tanev the chance to play in the NHL and play for the Cup and I would have been glad for him if the Canucks had won, but only him. I could never give up rooting my hometown team, regardless of whoever is playing on the other team. In the Finals I was rooting for Tanev to play well but the Bruins to win.

If we don't snag 4 points this weekend I'm going to be pretty dissiapointed.

4 points should be agiven seeing as we're playing Sacred Heart. And I would assume/hope we'd get at least 2 from Bentley.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

I am just going to advoid the Boston Canucks conversation, just sounds like a bad hockey player or beer........

I am pretty happy with RIT games in Madison this weekend. Played well, had a chance in both games. Little upset that they missed some open nets. To me that is what this season will come down to…finishing the chances you should. If RIT does that they will be fine.

What really should make Tiger fans happy are the blown points many teams ahead or tied with RIT had this weekend. This was a big scoreboard watch weekend as teams who had games in hand on RIT was in conference action. Many of which failed to make much ground on the idle Tigers. RIT sits in 4th for the stretch run. If they can have a second season run like they’ve had the last few years they could actually capture another regular season title.

Way I see it is a 7 team race for the all-important top 4 playoff seeding. Right now the top four is all Western Pod teams, but given the weakness of the eastern pod the last two east-west weekend coming up are going to be big in setting the stage for the stretch run. It hard to imagine any more than 1 Eastern team in the top 4, but just about as hard to imagine all 4 Western teams in the top 4 thanks to the unbalance schedule.

Just about all four of the top 4 teams have games against Bentley, Holy Cross, & UCONN which are sitting in the middle of the standing looking to make a run into the top four. The top 4 also play against the bottom 3 teams with the exception of RMU who plays Holy Cross & UCONN.

RIT needs to keep Sacred Heart out of the win column this weekend in Bridgeport. And if they can take the following weekend series against Bentley they will be in nice position with 6 of the last 10 at home. Also they get RMU & Mercyhurst each for two at the Ritter. Bad news is the trip to Air Force for two.

Mercyhurst does get a chance to feast on AIC, but then has to play Holy Cross next and have 7 of the last 10 on the road. Can the young freshman handle the road grind?

Air Force has a similar set up as RIT, but with harder game first with Bentley before taking on an Army of one win, but you do know what Army/Air Force means. Falcons do enjoy 6 of their final 10 at home after the Army Game.

Bob Morris has the toughest remaining inter-pod schedule and then spilt there remaining 10 evenly between home and away games.
