Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

What I do want to say is I am very concern that I have not heard anything at all about RIT looking West.

I think if teams like Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, Niagara, and RIT could join some of the left overs from the CCHA and form a much better league than the AHA. I think the bonus is that RIT would compete right away in that league too, where if they join the ECAC they may have a tough couple of years to build up. And I do think there would be plenty of potential for growth in that new league that could be formed.

Yes - joining a league that would have full scholarships for everyone but RIT is a great idea </sarcasm>

That and I believe that RIT has been trying to persuade that NCAA that all schools that have a play up sport to D1 should get sch ' olarships at that level because they are not allowing any other schools to play up and it will then even the playing field at that level.

Really? I think there are a few other little schools in the ECAC that don't give athletic scholarships.;)

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

All true, but I think the point was that in the last two seasons since then, this is a drastically improved UConn team that has been a real factor in the AHA standings for the better part of both seasons. A late season slide dropped them to the 8th seed in 2012, but they were up there close to HC and Bentley earlier in the season. Not to mention that with the parity in AHA in 2012, 8th place was not all that far from 3rd. The Huskies were right in there for sure.

You're seriously trying to convince me that a team that hasn't had a winning record in over 10 years, has finished middle of the pack in the AHA (at best) is some great asset? I guess I just don't see it.

The ECAC doesn't have everyone giving scholarships. Nice try though.

Well, recent and even not-so-recent records aside... I don't think the on ice performance to date has any real bearing on whether or not HEA finds UConn an asset or not. They are a large New England state school with national recognition that has plenty of resources to field a nationally competitive program in whatever sport they choose to. I'm sure HEA is telling them that they want them as long as they take the sport seriously... unlike they've done up until now. If the program were to apply to HEA as-is, I would assume the answer would be a more than emphatic NO!

Not only does not everyone give scholarships, the majority do not. 5 teams give them while 7 do not.

Fact is UAH needs somewhere to go, and if UCONN is going to leave Atlantic Hockey regardless, it only makes sense to bring in UAH. It's for the good of all of college hockey for the UAH program to survive and it won't do that as an independent. And based on previous years, UAH could some day bring more to the table than UCONN ever has for us.

In other news, Madolora was released from his ATO and signed to an Emergency Backup Goaltender contract for the playoffs with Las Vegas. Hopefully he stays on their roster for next season. I'm sure he's getting valuable practice time now.

Burt is still on Ontario's roster, although was a healthy scratch for their first playoff game.

Knowles has disappeared from Kalamazoo's roster, not sure what happened to him.

There aren't any remains of the CCHA (as of 2013-14, at least). They've all found a home in the new WCHA. Case closed... for now.

Opps, I thought Western Michigan and Bowling Green still were undecided. I getting behind in my old age... yikes...

Looks like RIT is going to be left with out a chair when the music stops...

Komey, I always have said that full scholarships should be a goal and RIT should try and get all sports to D-I. And I think RIT could still do well with their grants. But its all becoming a moot argument....

RIT is too busy building more buildings in attempt to make itself big. Much bigger than it needs to be. Trying way to hard.

Tuition = RIDICULOUS.

Shop around. At least the places my daughter is looking at make RIT look like a serious bargain amongst private universities. Buildings are good an bad. We need more space for some things ... but that isn't always what gets put up.

Tuition is ridiculous, but that's true throughout higher education, and can hardly be blamed on RIT's building expansion.

At least your tuition isn't being inflated in order to make your institute appear more prestigious.

RIT is not without a chair - they HAVE a confernece. It's also one that they will be major players in for the forseeable future with opportunities to make the NCAAs. That is not a bad thing.

I agree. The bad part is that there is a limit to the upside of being in the AHA.

I'm sorry but I don't like being one of (now) 11 teams that can make a playoff run from our conference. RIT would grow faster in a more competitive league. I'd rather suffer through a few **** seasons and work our way up to becoming competitive on the national level (similar to Union) than waiting around all season and hoping someone else knocks out Air Force in the playoffs... since we haven't done a good job of it (we've never scored on them in the playoffs, right?).
