Hopefully we get Mitchell back in two weeks as well.

Um, don't MCL injuries take a rather long time to heal?

Well, I remember Potts saying he would be back in February and I believe he was skating by January. I wonder if there's any chance he returns this year.

I think you should give Mads more credit than that, I don't think he gets thrown that easily

Apparently he did on that play.

He played outstanding in net and I give him loads of credit for securing the tie. In playoff hockey the smallest mistake is magnified and the good teams will take advantage.

That tying goal by Haltigin with the assist from Burt was super sweet! We need to bottle that play and pull it out more than just a few times in future games.

What made that play good was the fact that it was the first one-timer I had seen on the powerplay by RIT the whole night. I was watching on tv, so it is a little easier to tell everything that is going on. Most of the time on the powerplay the guy with the puck at the top of the umbrella would hold the puck for a couple of seconds before shooting or passing. They had plenty of more chances for one-timers but didn't take them. I understand you don't always just want to shoot, but a few more one-timers might loosen the D up a little bit or give them more to think about. The play reminded me a lot of the goal Haltigin scored against UConn in the playoffs in OT in the Frozen Four year.

Depends on the severity of the injury. Can vary from being a sprain, like an ankle sprain, to being a more serious ligament tear. I've heard from more than one source(can't remember whom, maybe one of the coaches?) that Mitchell coming back was a possibility during the conference payoffs. Not sure how reliable my information is though, so take it with a grain of salt. We could definitely use him.

If the tv guys are to be believed, Mitchell should be back for the quarters. They kept saying it when talking about how important the bye was.

Absolutely, a one-time shot from this team is very refreshing to see in general. Particularly one that is shot hard and is on goal(and goes in, of course). Our offense does seem to plod along at times, especially on the PP. The puck movement tends to be too slow and too predictable to get the open looks and the goalie movement you need against the really good goaltenders we will continue to face in the playoffs. I really hope the seniors like Haltigin and Burt, and the other players from the Frozen Four team catch fire now. Burt scored many more goals as a sophomore that Frozen Four year than this year. The regular season 2009-10 he had 13 goals, including 3 2-goal games and 3 more goals in the postseason. This season: 7 goals, including 1 2-goal game. We need the Cam Burt of 2009-10 to come back. More goals like that from Haltigin will get us a long way too.

So Air Force is ranked now... and Niagara is getting votes. Pretty dissiapointed.

Why? AFA finished 1st and has been pretty dominating since Torf came back (seriously, check his numbers. Wow.). And Niagara has the best goalie in Div 1 right now and a very, very good team.

I hope you aren't disappointed because you think RIT deserves votes. We went a combined 1-3-2 against AFA and Niagara this year.

I'm dissiapointed because RIT is not living up to expectations, not because the other teams are getting votes when they rightfully deserve them. I hold the tigers to high standards, just like we all should, and they have been letting us down this season. No they're not doing awful, but AHA has grown stronger this year and it seems the tigers are being left behind. This is not what I expect from a program that's looking to grow.

Sure, I can understand that to a point. But we all knew to expect scoring to drop this year with the loss of Brenner and Favot. As great as Garbowsky and McGowan are, they need a year or two before they truly become an unstoppable force. Perhaps we didn't expect it to drop this much, but we've also had injuries from Saracino (a key offensive presence from the blue line), Mitchell, and Potts who was looking to having a breakout year. Stuart Brownell has also been out all year, so who knows what he can bring.

Defensively we are top 10 in the country and even though Madolora isn't statistically as dominating as last year, he's still right up there in all of the overall D1 stats.

Our problem is just consistency and, I think, mental toughness. It's a Tiger tradition to play up to good teams and play down to bad teams, and that doesn't seem to change.

College hockey is always a roller coaster with players coming and going every year, so it's impossible to expect that we'd win every regular season title forever. Next year every team is going to change again. Niagara caught fire behind a ridiculously good Noonan. Well, Noonan won't be around next year. That's just how it goes.

It says a lot about our pedigree though that a 3rd seed, first round bye is disappointing. Teams like AIC are thrilled to finish 9th!

I'm not quite sure how a team that is 28 in RPI, 27th in PairWise, and 41 KRACH is ranked. Not to mention that they are 2-2-1 in their last five games. I'm confused how they got enough votes to get ranked.

To add to what Winters said, I think a good deal of the inconsistancy is because of the injuries. Granted, the last few weeks the lineup has been stable, but there is a lot of talant that can't play. But the conference tournament I believe will be won by goaltending. While Madolora has been good, he is going to need to be great for RIT to win the tournament.

Well... from what i've heard both Potts and Mitchell are skating now. So that's good news and hopefully they'll be ready in 2 weeks. Saracino is probably done for the season and Brownell has been healthy, he was injured for the first half of the season.

Although... This is the first time in their 6 year AHA existence that the Tigers finished outside of the top two and only the second time they didn't finish in at least a tie for first. RIT fans haven't experienced the "roller coaster" just yet. The great programs re-load, they don't re-build, right?

Agreed. The goalies in the AHA are generally pretty darn good, so if you give them the time to set up, they'll usually be in good position to make a save. Having someone that can have a good one-timer that is on net would help generate better quality chances and perhaps more 2nd and 3rd effort goals.

One thing I've noticed is that our slap shots are way off way too many times. I know slap shots aren't as accurate, but I think we miss the net too often.

I think they got votes for winning their conference but if you look at the teams behind them, even though they have a higher RPI and PWR, their records within their conferences are not stellar.

They also beat CC during the year which is some 50 points ahead of them.

Anybody know where one could find the rankings at this time over the last few years to see where the AHA Season Champion was ranked?
