Pete Feola is one of the linesmen at the Switzerland-Canada game on right now.

the band will be there this weekend...and they are trying to be there next week too (no promises though)

Great news for this weekend - lets hope they can pull off next weekend too!

Yes this is impressive, the corner should give them a salute or recognition for sticking around. The atmosphere is much better when the band is there and we need all the motivation we can get for the boys this weekend

If the team isn't motivated by clinching the #1 seed AND beating the only league team that swept them, having the band there won't matter that much. We know Air Force has plenty of motivation - trying to host quarterfinals.

That said - it is a much better atmosphere having the band and I am glad they will be there.

We're number 1! We're number 1! Now to just win in the playoffs.

Tonight's game was one of the best hockey games I have seen this year. Two very skilled teams battling for position in the playoffs. A great win for RIT to prep them for the playoff run.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Even strength, I thought RIT controlled the play as much as I can remember in an Air Force/RIT game. Usually I feel like RIT's lucky when they escape with wins against Air Force over the years, but tonight I felt like they should have wrapped it up much earlier. I worry a little about RIT's inability to finish against better teams, but they eventually got the job done tonight. It was also great to see Mazzei score the GWG. He was a pain for AF all night in front of the net, and generated some good chances, and it finally paid off in OT.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Voelkening is definitely a monster in net. We can't afford goal tending duels against Air Force or else it's going to bite us in the rear. Hopefully Andrew used up all his puck luck tonight, because it should have been 6-2 by my count.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

RIT is definitely the best team top to bottom. Besides Lamoreaux who is clearly skilled, Air Force didnt really impress me. Volkening is just a big oaf of a goalie with oversized pads, he takes a lot of net up but DeMichel is definitely more talented and can make that flashy big save when needed. Air Force tried to play that trap and was really aggressive in trying to stop RIT's breakout, it worked in the second period but they got tired and RIT showed why they are the best in AH completely dominating the third period. I think Burt, Favot, and Ringwald stepped up and played awesome. Tanev looked a little shaky last night, he's been solid but maybe the nerves got to him a little he made some plays that made me think he was second guessing himself. Overall great game. I think that may have deflated AF a little, I foresee a lackluster effort from them tonight.

If we win tonight, we are guaranteed the AHA conference title as we are 6 points up with 3 games left. Let's get it done!

RIT's defense has been dominating play most of the season. I thought Tanev only looked shaky in the last couple of moments of regulation. He's just a freshman and this (hopefully) will be just the experience he needs. Our only (minor) weakness is the lack of a strong finisher. We make up for that with a large quantity of good, but not great, scorers.

The assist from Burt to Ringwald was one of the nicest plays I have seen all season long.

RIT needs to come out tonight and continue to play "playoff" style hockey. I think Air Force will come out and play just as desperate as they did last night. Therefore, its going to be another hard-fought game.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Normally against any service academy their conditioning begins to show in the 3rd period. Not tonight. I thought Air Force looked like they were chasing the Tigers all over the ice and where the ones looking a little gassed. I agree with others that Burt, Favot, and Ringwald all had huge nights and its great to see our big players step up in big games. This just might be our most complete team in recent seasons. Air Force just doesn't look the same this year.

Did anyone else notice how timid McReynolds looked tonight? Didn't really throw any hits and when he got the puck he passed it right away like he didn't want it. Couple of those passes were pretty questionable and led to Air Force scoring chances. Just seemed intimidated to me. Maybe the coaches talked to him and told him no shenanigans tonight.

Great crowd like always. Though I do want a letter of apology from the Air Force AD. Their coach clearly disrespected the officials several times ;)

But I want a win!

By the way, several of us standing at the south end of the rink don't think the first goal crossed the line -- Volkening reached back and gloved it just before it trickled over -- but the goal judge was pretty certain that it did. But as noted in the recap, we gave up a 5-on-3 goal just after that so it's a wash, or "even stevens" as Frank Serratore said.

After the game, my friends and I watched the goal on my DVR recording, and we don't think it was in either. It's inconclusive due to the post being in the way, but I am fairly certain Volkening stopped it on the line and pulled it back out. We can't tell when the whistle was blown, but we DO think that his hand, holding the puck, crossed the line eventually (but I would say after the whistle)

Air Force might be more desperate to hope to hang on to a home ice spot in the playoffs.

This weekend is definately "playoff style" games. That means good defensive games. There is a lot more at stake in those games so teams might not take as many chances. I look for a similar game tonight.

I think this is RIT's best defensive team of all the DI teams - and that bodes well come playoff time.

I will never expect this from a service academy. Something about them, probably their training, imparts a never give up attitude; They always seem to be ready for every game.

That said, as long as the Tigers know AFA will still come out swinging, I think RIT should pull off a win tonight too.

You got that backwards. According to Army standards, the apology for any AFA misdeeds should come from the RIT AD.;)

Yeah, and I believe RIT has the tiebreaker, which gives them the top seed for playoff purposes. It looks like Wilson is motivated to throw any possibility of "co" in their regular season championship away though based on his quote. I wouldn't be totally shocked if they went with Madolora the next two games and put DeMichiel back in for his last regular season home game, but perhaps trying to keep things going versus Air Force (and clinching the title outright despite having the top seed already based on the tiebreaker) will be enough to put DeMichiel back in net tonight.

I fully believe in riding a hot goaltender, I think it keeps them in their groove. But I'm not the coach so we'll see what happens :)
