It'll be our secret plan to start winning again at the BCA... :p

If an Olympic sheet was put in when we get the arena I could only imagine how some of the early games could turn out. with both teams needing to adjust to bigger ice it could be interesting.

We should add it to our official wish list for a new arena then? :)

Dear secret mole with access to upper levels of RIT administration

We would like:

1. New arena with capacity of 5000
2. Stadium seating that surrounds the entire ice surface
3. Balcony seating so the corner can rain insults on the opposing goalie
4. Olympic sized ice surface just so we can see the faces of the other team when they are expecting to play on our midget rink.
5. Bar/restaurant over looking the ice (ok that's just mine but whatever :) )

Oh and one more item:

6. Reduce the number of times we play "Shipping Up to Boston" by The Dropkick Murphey's from 80 times a game to around 3 or 4  This includes the pep band as well :)

There is no NCAA ban of alcohol sales during regular season play. Alochol sales at games is at the schools discretion and I'm sure if there was a huge problem with it the AHA would say no to sales at BCA. NCAA has banned it during NCAA Championship games though, which means no beer at the Frozen Four.

Looks like if it is a non-ncaa sponsored game, it is up to the host institution, although it seems like quite a few institutions are taking the same route as RIT when it comes to alcohol example: http://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/article/63597

They aren't going the same route as RIT. They are following a new law in Minnesota. My guess is in 10-20 years RIT will be selling beer at hockey games, unless the NCAA steps in and bans it by that point.

They didn't HAVE to follow the law, they could have simply sold beer in the entire arena :D

I suppose it was a bad example, but there are certainly plenty of other arenas/stadiums that regularly offer alcohol at sporting events.

The BCA likely would have told the AHA that they didn't want them playing there then since the BCA would stand to make a heck of a lot more money on concessions. So not sure if that really would have been the AHA/RIT's call. well you know what i mean.

Also, a new local hockey show called "The Blue Line" is set to debut next Saturday morning (January 9th) at 10 am on Sportsradio 950 ESPN (WROC). It'll be a call-in show set to discuss all things hockey!

Does anyone know if the AHA extended their contract to have the tournament final four at the BCA after this season?

Mark,

The last I knew, AHA was going year to year on the BCA contract for the playoffs.
