Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Forgive me for busting out the rulebook, I knew it was dangerous. However what you may or may not know is that I am a baseball umpire. Learning the rules to the game has always been, kind of important to me. And I think it’s very embarrassing to go arguing against a call when you’ve made it perfectly clear that you don’t know the rules. Perhaps I take that a little too personally because I have dealt with punks like you all the time on the diamond.

I know what the rule is. I wasn't one of the people that said it should be a penalty shot. I knew there would be a face-off in their zone (penalty or not) and 4 seconds is more than enough time to win a draw and get the puck on net. If you read my posts I blamed the loss on all sorts of reasons not solely on this blown call. I have plenty of respect for people's opinions and would have willingly engaged in a more civilized conversation about the lines, the power play, the play of Niagara, the misconduct penalty etc. But instead I am attacked and accused of wrapping my own ego up in the play of RIT because I dared say anything bad about the team and think OOC games matter more than you do. I know people work very hard for the program and I am glad they do but that doesn't mean I have to shower the team in sunshine and kisses.

Maybe you don't realize it but you come across as a real a-hole when you "disagree" with someone. Maybe I do too. Maybe you were just quoting me but venting about others, whatever. I don't want to fill this board up with our little ****ing contest. So it's best to just agree to disagree. I think the play of RIT against OOC opponents, coupled with our spotty goal scoring might spell a little trouble for us at the end of the year. You don't, fine. That's the point I was trying to make the whole time. Next time try engaging me in a conversation about the team instead of accusing me of trying to live vicariously through them.

Sorry If I have offended the super secret mole who has access to the top levels of the school administration but for whatever reason is feigning ignorance on his board... :)

I don't know if you offended them ... or if they even exist. But there are people on here with access to the top levels ...;)

For all we know Pres. Destler himself is posting here. He is a hockey fan like most of the rest of us.

To provide more fuel to the fire - tho I don't know who it would help, I posted the mid-season interview with Coach Wilson on the web site. Enjoy!

Yeah average fans boo all the time no matter what when a call doesn’t go their teams way.

I do initially, but not with a lot of vigor if it's clearly a good call.

I see RIT is keeping that BC recruiting channel open (or at least trying to).

I will agree with coach Wilson that RIT has had a really hard time getting pucks through to the goal. Just seems to be no space in front. Sometimes I have to wonder if the small size of the Ritter contributes to this. Since the rink is what, 15 feet shorter than normal? that has to shrink up the offensive zone somewhat

I had always thought that most of the "lost" space was removed from the neutral zone. I could be wrong but I was told that once upon a time.

The neutral zone is def smaller I am just not sure its 15 feet smaller...

from what I know, the rink is 185 by 85...most, if not all division 1 rinks are 200 by 85 so the width is correct, but the length is shorter... nhl standards are 200 by 85 in case people were wondering

I would have thought that with all the "insider knowledge" here that one of them would have the correct answer about the ice sheet.

The correct answer about the sheet is that it is smaller than pro rinks.:D

If we get a new arena they should just put an Olympic size sheet in to really mess with everyone :D

98ftx200ft could throw some teams off. I'm trying to figure out which conversion is easier for teams to make. Playing on a bigger or smaller sheet than their own?

Bigger to smaller in my opinion.

RIT seems to have the smaller to bigger problem

Correct. That is why I posted that it was easier to go from bigger to smaller.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

I'm not 100% sure I remember this correctly, but I checked a while back. I believe the rink is standard from blue line to goal line (the zones) and that the missing space is in both the neutral zone and behind the goal lines (which, IIRC do not have set standards ... e.g., the space behind the goal lines in some rinks is quite large).

Please feel free to correct me if I messed up.

I remember either hearing that or reading it somewhere.

It'll be our secret plan to start winning again at the BCA... :p
