Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

There may actually still be a couple left from last spring's sale (they put both sets up for sale). My wife just bought me one for my birthday, and that was just a few weeks ago that she picked it up. Jeff Siegle at the cage is handling the sale of these. I won't publish his contact info here, but it can be found on the staff directory on RIT's web page.

I will warn you though, they are pricey, to the tune of $150. Just a few years back they were $75, then the price went up to $100, now they are $150, so I think I am going to end my collection where it stands now.

If you got a white for $150 then that is probably why. Those were only 1 year old jerseys. The aways were two years old at that point (they didn't sell them the year before.) Now they have both sets of jerseys that are the same age, so they probably wont be selling them until after next season as this is the first season for the Bauer label jerseys and typically they like to get two years out of them.

Does anyone have any inside information on a new arena. Anymore progress or have the plans been scraped for now?

Business as usual as far as I know. The plans are there, but we still need more money.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Let me see if I can talk the editors into making it a free content article.

Not to be a PITA, but if RIT related articles get converted to Free rather than USCHO Extra, what is the value of the 15 bucks a year those of us who signed up for that service are putting out? Those articles are the only reason I signed up for Extra in the first place. The additional stats and lack of advertising sure aren't worth the cash.

As far as the article goes, it summarized the atmoshphere at Friday nights Army game as electric, and what college hockey is all about. They compared the Ritter to Yost (Michigan), Lynah (Cornell), Alfond (Maine) and the Kohl Center (Wisconsin). The best line was:

"Between the pep band, the small size of the arena (2,100), and perhaps the best public address announcer in college hockey, the RIT Tigers have created a buzz on campus that more people should see on a national broadcast."

They also touched on instituional and community support, mentioning the purchase of the HD production truck and attendance at the BCA game with Colgate.

The story also went over why players choose Atlantic Hockey teams over big 4 programs. They mentioned that you could see 3-4 guys (no names mentioned) who could play 3rd line for a big 4 team on the ice for the Tigers. Reasoning that why wouldn't a player chose to have an impact on the ice over sitting in the stand watching.

They made some pretty good points as to the fact that one of the reason that Atlantic Hockey teams don't do that great against big 4 teams is that they almost universally are the ones doing the travelling, and college hockey is particularly tough to win games on the road. The big 4 programs need to play in AH venues:

"Now the question is how do they get more people to see it? That answer falls into the hands of the league and the administrations of its member schools. Better buildings, nicer facilities, and on-campus arenas are vital. Sacred Heart has a good team but plays about 20 miles away from campus in a rink that would be good for pee-wee hockey. Junior B teams shouldn’t play there, nor should an NCAA Division I team.

This could be a situation worth watching. What is definitely worth watching is home games at RIT. Now let’s see some of the big boys help the little guys and get out there and play them."

All-in-all a pretty enthusiastic and complimentary article.

If RIT got a nationally covered game it would be awesome. Rocky very well could be the best PA guy in college hockey.

I did get a white one. Were they selling the orange ones for less? My question is, why did they decide to retire the white ones after only one year? And why do the new ones have Bauer labels instead of Nike? I thought that they were the same company, is it just a branding thing?

On a related note, as I inquired before, is there any interest in starting a web page to try and document the Tigers' jersey history? I would be willing to do it via my Picasa albums (although I'd probably start a dedicated account just for the jerseys to keep them separate from my personal pics) if others would contribute photos, or, better yet, someone here with some web-authoring skills could put together a "real" web page (or integrate this into the Corner Crew page).

The Orange ones were $150 as well.

Nike Bauer is no longer. Bauer is on it's own again. Bauer also purchased the Itech brand and has folded their products into their portfolio and rebadged them.

Good with Nike buying Bauer and Reebok taking CCM I was worried some of the biggest names in hockey gears would cease to exist

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

I have it as well.

It's great to see that RIT can win games when the offense isn't going well. It's one thing to allow 1 goal to UConn and Army, but to do that against a Mercyhurst that gets over 3 goals a game is something.

Jared DeMichiel has been amazing. It's great to see that he has stepped up his game a bit from a good season last year.

If the forwards ever start scoring some goals, this team is gonna be scary.

Good job by Scott calling the game this weekend; I hear much improvement. Now if we can just get him to say "Goal" when the puck goes in. =)

Contrary to how I heard the game, the box score shows Hartley with the GWG; did he tip in Mazur's shot or something? Shame Mazur loses that PP goal, but I'll take the win.

Thanks LT, I'm working on it. I'm the first to admit that my goal calls are not a strength. The second one last night particularly sucked:(

I think I might try something like "shot, goal --silence--" the next time I call a game and see if that works better:D

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Forwards scoring? That's just kooky talk. ;)

Getting as much scoring from the defencemen should only help the forwards since teams will actually have to move up on the D.

Not bad for a team that everyone was ready to hit the panic button for just 3 weeks ago. However, still a long way to go. The goal remains winning the Atlantic Tournament and an NCAA bid...

It's amazing what a 6 game win streak will do. :) In fact it got the Tigers 3pts in this weeks poll.
