Also, goalies don't get that hot about a goal they let in unless they are 100% sure that it shouldn't be ruled a goal.

You obviously never heard of a Goaltender from Genny names Brett Walker...

Regarding Army's play on Saturday, nobody has mentioned how well Army was blocking shots and disrupting passes in their zone. As the game wore on this became more evident. Army played well in front of their new goalie and RIT was trying too hard to make things happen. On our power plays in the third period some fans were screaming for RIT to shoot the puck (one woman near me especially - she must drive truck for a living). The answer was not to pepper this defense with shots on Saturday - they weren't getting through to the goalie. RIT needed to relax a little and not try to force things so much.

Ummmm????

I thought Army played a much better game Saturday especially in their defensive zone.

What is more upsetting is Kbranch and I seem to agree here, how often has that happen? For Years I notice a lot of people, especially in Buffalo get impatient and want the home team to shot every chance they have on the power play. There is a difference between throwing the puck and passing or shooting a puck. Throwing a puck around hardly ever wins a hockey game. I do wonder when some people will realize that these are D-I teams and there will be nights like Saturday night.

You did not mention blocked shots and disrupted passes specifically. :p

We probably agree more often than not.

I was especially annoyed with the truck driver woman near me who wanted RIT to 'SHOOOOOOT THE PUUCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!'. I learned long ago not to sit anywhere near her when I have my kids with me. Some how this year she has made it into the section I usually sit in. I think she was displaced by the expanded student section near the corner crew and the band. I wish she'd go back there.

Well thank you for expanding on my "brilliant" thought :D And yes we most likley agree more often than not, but it seems to be more entertaining when we don't agree ;)...hehe Good Times man!

I think I may know who you referring too as the female truck driver and its making me laugh really hard inside...

I think we should start a support group to help these poor individuals who don't understand the nuances of the power-play.

Fans don't let fans yell shoot. Please, think of the children. :p

If you're within earshot of someone yelling shoot, politely inform them about power-play strategy. In a game like Saturday's, the last thing the Tigers should have been doing was "SHOOT!"ing. Maybe, ask them to yell "CYCLE!" or "WORK IT DOWN LOW!". I mean, they wanna yell. Put em to good use. ;)

Who was it that said, "You don't score on 100% of the shots you don't take"? ;)

I think most people just get frustrated when all it looks like RIT is going is passing the puck around and not getting any action. I don't think we get skaters down low often enough on the power play - or the offense in general.

I'm pretty sure whoever said that never accomplished anything in their hockey career :p

You can't take shots when there are no shooting lanes. You need to get closer to the net or else you're not going to get shots and you're not going to keep the puck in the zone.

mhm, and you need to move the puck quicker. We looked really lackadaisical on Saturday and it showed by us not being able to open lanes. If you work quicker, the defense makes mistakes and lanes show up.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

It's one thing to take shots when they are getting through to the goalie and especially when he is giving up fat rebounds like Army's goaltender was on Friday. Then your forwards can work on the second and third efforts directly in front of the net. Under these circumstances by all means 'SHHHOOOOT THE PUUUCCCK!!!!". On Saturday they weren't getting to the goalie. Passes and shots were hitting black shin pads and sticks before anyone in the slot would have a chance at a second effort. I think it was a combination of Army playing well, and RIT trying to force things and seeing lanes that weren't really there.

When did we become a Division I powerhouse?
We've been listed as a 'Division I powerhouse' in the season ticket brochure for the last three years.

For the person or persons interested in seeing pictures of older jerseys, I have photographed my collection and put the pictures online at http://picasaweb.google.com/jbwreg/RITHockeyJerseys#

For the captions I put on the pictures, I was going from recollection with regard to the years that the jerseys were used, and I then matched those years up to players via the media guide. I think I'm pretty accurate, but if anyone sees a mistake, please let me know.

I will caution you that these jerseys aren't THAT old, and you've probably seen all of these designs at the Ritter on any given night the last few years. I know that the guys who have been around for a while have jerseys that predate my arrival at RIT (1995). I think it would be kind of cool if we could pull together pictures of our old jerseys and create a historical jerseys section on the Corner Crew page. I imagine the jersey designs won't be changing very often now that we are D1 (they basically changed every time new jerseys were purchased in the D3 days), so I think it would be very interesting to capture as much of that history as possible before the current "Tiger Head" design jerseys become all that contemporary fans know.

Speaking of jerseys... how do I get my name on the list to buy one after the season ends?

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

You know I walked down to the Corner after (I watched this game from the blueline on the RIT shot twice side) and all of the "veterans" seemed to agree that the game winning goal did not go in so at least from being fair I think there a lot of class there.

My memory of it is getting fuzzier by the day, but when I saw the slo-mo replay on TV it looked good. Barely, but good.

Oh, by the way, I see Dave Starman has a column up on USCHO Extra touting the Ritter as one of the best places to watch hockey. Anyone with access willing to give a recap/summary?

Let me see if I can talk the editors into making it a free content article.

You have to call Coach Wilson.

There may actually still be a couple left from last spring's sale (they put both sets up for sale). My wife just bought me one for my birthday, and that was just a few weeks ago that she picked it up. Jeff Siegle at the cage is handling the sale of these. I won't publish his contact info here, but it can be found on the staff directory on RIT's web page.

I will warn you though, they are pricey, to the tune of $150. Just a few years back they were $75, then the price went up to $100, now they are $150, so I think I am going to end my collection where it stands now.
